[Alrighty, it's been a fucking long enough time and Debra Morgan is over feeling sorry for herself. Well, maybe not but she's definitely over not doing anything. She's stir-crazy, especially after the flowers and now she's feeling like she needs to do something. Given that she'd practically received a job offer during her first post, it seemed like high time she took it.

So armed with her acquired knowledge of the city, as well as the fact that she was feeling like she was more on an even keel, Deb shows up at the forensics department looking as professional as she can. Hell, she's even wearing a fucking suit jacket.

With a little bit of a smile, and a determined shove of her hair behind her ears, Debra Morgan is ready for action, as she pushes through the doors.]

Ah, Morgan-san! Welcome. This is your first visit, right?

[Conan's pleased to see her. He's got a child-sized lab coat on, in which he too is endaevouring to look professional, despite the fact that he's got sneakers and jeans on underneath it -- shopping is hard when you're a kid apparently (or that's his excuse).]

Yeah, this is my first time here. Decided it was time to stop fucking pussy-footing around and get a real job.

[It's still fucking weird to see an eight year old with a lab coat, but at least he's not doing the thing where his arms are rolled up and it actually fits. If it didn't fit she wouldn't be able to take him seriously.

As it was, she was going to need to keep the Wikipedia Black comments to a bare minimum.

With a little shrug, she looks around.]

[Not privvy to Deb's thoughts, Conan had relaxed that she was going to go with the idea of a kid being in charge for now.]

I guess that depends! Would you like the tour first or an interview? Or we could combine them -- I think that'd be best. You can ask questions about what we do here as we go around.

This is our main office. Generally we meet here at nine for a daily meeting. Everyone makes a brief report about the progress of whatever it is they're working on, and any new assignments are given out and then we get to it.

How often do new assignments come in?

If you're thinking strictly police procedural cases, rarely! The traveller population is small enough that it tends to keep people in check -- but we have had violent deaths here that have needed to be investigated.

In between those, however, we make our own cases -- we've got a lot to learn about this city, the gods, our opponents in the way, the method used by the gods to bring and keep us here ...

[As he talks, Conan leads the way into the Forensics Headquarters, a decent sized room with individual desks arranged in islands, and a row at the head of the room.]

This is our main office, where we do most of our research! We also have the morning meeting here everyday before breaking off to each do our own thing -- people tend to go to the library, go out and interview people, even make field trips to Utgard and beyond, or use the hospital laboratory equipment.

[That's a bit different than Deb had expected, but she doesn't say anything for a moment. She'd expected more of being a cop and less of being a researcher. Still, reaching was something that she was talking about doing with Hermione anyway, so it made sense.]

So, do like... have a giant ass like database of the shit we find or something?

That's what we're working on now! It's going slowly, because we have to double-check the stuff you'd think you could take for granted ... but since this is really important information, it's best we make it as accurate as possible!
