[ It had worked once before, back in the heat of late summer in Asgard, so Jade was trying it again. She had dragged the sign out to the front of the store, right in the middle of the sidewalk, and written in huge letters:

free hot chocolate! :D
just come inside ♥

The temperature hadn't broken the sixty degree mark today - it was getting chilly fast. Both Orihime and Annabeth were gone, and the store was oddly quiet. Jade will be found keeping herself busy throughout the day with odd little chores when it's completely empty of customers - sweeping, dusting, and occasionally dozing in a booth near the door when the boredom becomes too much to bear. ]

Mmhm! Then we wouldn't have to miss the people from our own worlds so much. ... Although I'm not sure how that would work without disturbing the timeline. -- Or at least requiring memory loss.

[Taking note, Naminé's expression shifts a little, too, her head inclining the slightest of degrees.]

Oh. That'd be my Dad! I bet he'd worry himself sick if he knew what was going on here, but it'd make me feel a lot better to speak to him again.

Maybe. [It's not as hopeful, exactly, just-- a matter of possibility.] Stranger things have happened.

I should have known. [He would have been her first guess, truthfully, had she cared to guess.] I sure...! It must be awful to be apart from him. [--....] I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't say things like that.

Oh - no, it's fine, don't worry about it! [No, it's not the best way, but Jane is sure Namine doesn't mean it cruelly.] Though, perhaps he might turn up on his own before then. That would be even better!

[She grins, somewhat reassuringly.] Whyever would I change my mind? I must confess, you've bamboozled me on that one.

[Reassured but a little shy in the face of such topic of discussion anyway, she laughs behind a hand, smile lingering even after she lowers the hand in question again.] I don't know...! Maybe I'm actually really mean and you just haven't seen it yet.

[If you want to convince her of that, Naminé, you probably ought not say it so sweetly.]

[Her mouth makes a little 'o', but it's pretty clear in the rest of Jane's expression that she doesn't buy it for a minute.]

[The silly head tilt doesn't really help her case.]

[She raises a finger almost to her lips, like she might make a shushing gesture. She doesn't; it's more the threat of one than anything.]

If I told you that, wouldn't it ruin the whole thing? If I'm going to doublecross you, I figure I should probably do it right.

[She snaps her fingers.] Oh, darn. I guess I'll have to try and uncover your scheme some other way.
