[He died. The fact that he died is not, of itself, the most disturbing part, though he'll never forget the feeling and sound of it. No, the most disturbing part is the fact that he woke up after, in the same place as when he first arrived, all his gear intact and with no sign of any injury to his person beyond the vague kind of soreness that usually comes with sleeping too long. He shakes his limbs out and heads into the city; the trains from Alfheim aren't back just yet, so there are fewer Travelers than he would otherwise see, but the city is still full of people. It's just that most of them are varying shades of gray right now.
He could go the Bureau, but he's not sure he wants to be near the Assassins just yet, even if he didn't tell anyone outright that he was leaving. In that case, it's off to Gefion Park, where he spends quite a bit of time over the next few days, alternating between perching in trees and sitting down below and carving little wooden boats for children to play with.]

[Okay. He's officially moving into this place.
He'll be back and forth between the Assassin Bureau and Hel's Welcome Hall all day. Not that he has a lot to move, only a few articles of clothing and a handful of books, but it still requires 3 or 4 trips to get everything there in one piece. (It would have gone faster, but he neglected to get any boxes--which is why he keeps almost dropping books. Then again, when was the last time you tried climbing a building with a box of books in hand? Don't.)
Up in the Bureau, he's chosen a secluded room, as far away from any others as possible, and set up a pile of the blankets in a corner. Other Assassins passing through may see him resting in one of the main areas or staring vaguely upwards.]

[Just because there was a major battle in Alfheim doesn't mean things at home don't need doing, too. Connor's been roped into helping with the shopwhether or not he wants to, so he's out and about around the city, picking up orders, dropping things off, running (or, well, leisurely walking) messages to their destinations. At one point he stops to help an older woman with her groceries because that's the kind of boy scout he is. It's good, actually. Helps keep him busy and his mind off of things.
You know what'd be better at keeping his mind off of things, though? Alcohol.]

Is there a method to avoiding them at all? [Because he'd like to.]
no subject
No. I am afraid there is no way to avoid them at all. They strike without warning and often...
[SPLASH
The loud disturbance in the water instantly drew Leonardo's attention away from the conversation and back to the pond where the small child struggled in the cold water, splashing desperately to find a way back to the shore.]
