The school, the school, the school is on fire...
Who: Anyone who wants in on it!
What: The school is on fire.
When: Days 420 around sundown and after.
Where: The school in Odin's district.
Rating: We'll see!
The sun is slowly going down and Barty Crouch jr is in Odin's district, as he's been every day for a good while though, since he first realized how easily Will Graham fell into habits. The difference is that today he isn't headed to the cafe they always meet at right away. Instead he stands leaning against a wall, ever now and then glancing at the school and waiting for a sign. He has placed the mirror - a present from Albus Dumbledore himself - in just the right position fixed it to the corner of a building and waited for the sun to hit the reflective surface at the right angle.
Dumbledore had talked of smoke and mirrors and now Barty had found the right tinder. He waits until he can see smoke, faintly but there. It would be another hour, he suspects, maybe even more before the fire spreads far enough to be noticed. But it would burn, of that he had no doubt.
It is starting to get dark when he takes the mirror back, making sure to remain unseen, and he heads down the road to meet Will. He doesn't know if anyone is still in the building he just set on fire, he doesn't much care either way. The flames would rise high and Severus Snape would feel the heat.
[OOC Notes: I purposefully set this up like an event log, so just like for them, feel free to make a header comment detailing what your character is doing at any given time. If you want to do any more last minute plotting, head on over to the plotting post! Also, here is the IC post with some of what led up to this if you want to read up and/or still tag in! I backtag forever. Slowly.
If your character has been near/around/in the school before the fire started and would thus be a suspect and/or suspect other people he or she has seen, you can play that part out here too!
Times: Before the fire, during the fire, right after the fire. ...duh.
Places: The parts of the schools that will be affected are: The library, the auditorium and several classrooms as well as Evy's office.
Obviously you can also have your character be outside the school or in the hallways or any unaffected part if they want to use the chaos to, I don't know, mess up Snape's office a little.
I just ask that no one saw Barty do what he did, so we can have more fun with various suspicions cast about.]

There's a moment where it feels like the old cliche of time standing still just before disaster strikes. Hawkeye's vaguely amazed that he has time to hope they were right when they told him about death in Asgard before he's engulfed in a cascade of burning, heavy wooden beams and flame-heated bricks.
He can hear Ril's muffled call, briefly, before he lets the darkness take him.]
no subject
Because she's not letting him die. Hel can't have him, she can't. Her eyes blur as she blinks furiously, digging, clearing moving, and it doesn't matter that her hands come into contact with super heated brick or that they sear. She'll find him. She will, she has to find him. Things that look impossible to shift, she moves through sheer will and entirely too much adrenaline.]
Don't die, don't die, don't you die. [It's a hum, constant, a hiss, and her fingers shake as she forces them to curl around another piece of debris. A hand. His hand. Burnt. Can't fix. Not yet, not yet. More. Clear more, shift, her own hands burn, they don't matter. Clear, pull, shift. Don't die. Don't die. Don't. His shoulder. Part of his chest. There, his face. Another shoulder. More of his chest. Keep clearing. Don't stop. It's not panic. Most of him, most of him. But she can't shift his legs.
And there's that sound again. She can't get him all the way out. No she can't. But she has hands and she can heal. And. And it means she works herself around him until he's mostly in her lap. His hair hurts her hands, but that's okay. It's okay.]
Hawkeye. [Her voice cracks and she shivers as she concentrates. It's not dumping. She doesn't dump heal him, it's steady, and she can't stay quiet. Just his name and don't die. She fixes him, his lungs and his bones and things that are torn, she fixes him with a brush of her knuckles on his cheek because she's burnt her hands. It's fine.
She won't let him die.]

The unearthly sound just above him makes Hawkeye fully force himself out of the blackness and he grimaces, blinking slowly. There's a moment when he just stares blearily up at Ril, until something catches his attention.
His fingers flex slowly, and then there's a pause before he speaks in a tiny, croaking whisper.]
Can't feel...legs. They're...still there...right?
no subject
I'm almost there. I am. Give me. Give me a moment. I'll fix it. [Ril tries to make it as painless as possible, but it's delicate work. She can't take his pain the way she did with Six, but she wishes she could. She'd take it and hold it quiet if she could. Her knuckles brush his cheek gently as she apologizes over and over. Fixing him carefully. Just fixing him. And he's alive. It doesn't matter how painfully she's wedged in here with him. She's a little out of breath as she channels the healing delicately, sending it down his spinal cord bringing it back together. Healthy. Whole.
Her cheek drops against the top of his head. She's tired, now. Tired but determined not to give in.]
It's fine. [Her voice is a whisper.] It's fine, now. Not letting go.

[Hawkeye's words are cut off by a gasp as the burning sensation along his spine of nerves flaring back into life takes him by surprise. He'd forgotten he hasn't really needed healing up until now. So that's what it feels like to have nerves fix themselves in a matter of moments. Ow.
When the pain fades, he gives her a concerned, if grateful look. Hawk lifts a hand, shaky with what's left of the shock, and curls it around hers gently, bringing her fingers to his lips. He tries to comfort her in any way he can, since he can't get up and hug her.]
Ril...hey, it'll be okay. Don't cry.

After a few minutes, he overheard a concerned conversation about two people who had entered the building to find some children, and hadn't yet emerged. A brief conversation later and the Doctor was heading into the part building where they had last been seen, a damp mask tied over his mouth and nose. It wouldn't last long, but it should help for a time... and then he'll have to rely on his healing. At least that particular skill would come in handy in this situation.
He called out as he entered the building, hoping someone would hear him; whether they answer him or not, he'll head toward the faint sounds he can hear over the crackle of the flames.
...he just hopes he can find them and get them out before this situation grows more dangerous and forces him to retreat.]

Ril shakes her head.]
I thought I was going to be too late. [She thought she was going to have to watch him die. Ril nudges at his hair gently and she's still easing healing into him, bit by bit, making him stronger. There's noise somewhere and she half lifts her head before she tucks herself around him again protectively. It's an instinctive curling, as if she's warding away fire and the walls and everything else the might think about hurting him.] I came as fast as I could. I did. I came.
no subject
I know, Ril. I know. You saved me from being a rather handsome BBQ.
[His smile is warm and his voice strengthening, thanks to her healing. When his own healing is almost done with her hand, Hawkeye kisses her palm, trying to comfort her.
Then, he hears voices and his head lifts.]
Ril, do you hear that? Someone's out there?
[Hawkeye clears his throat and croaks out as loud as he can, his voice raw from the smoke.]
Hey! Hey, we're in here!
no subject
Nearing the area he thinks the voice came from, he slows his pace again, almost stopping as he looks around.]
Where are you? I can't see very clearly in this smoke!
[He already has to suppress a cough that's trying to work its way out of his chest. Nothing about this situation is good, but if he can just find these idiots before the rest of the roof comes down on the lot of them, that would be lovely.]
no subject
Not so handsome if the fire-- [She couldn't even pretend to carry that through and her voice cut off abruptly as she wrestled with her own emotions. And then she heard Six. Six..]
We're toward the back left corner, Six. [Her voice is rough and she forces herself be calm.] Hawkeye's legs are...stuck, but I cleared the rest. Can't shift this beam by myself. Not Antedan enough. [And she'd used near about everything on Hawkeye keeping him alive. She's absently petting Hawkeye's hair as much to comfort herself as him. See? He's alive, this is good, this is perfect. And she's exhausted enough that she stops healing for awhile. They'll get him out, she'll recharge a little. She'll fix him up good as new.
If she'd just gone after the animal instead...]
/don't mind me jumping out of order, doop dee doo
He doesn't bother replying to her words, and he doesn't allow himself to remain frozen in horror for more than a second at best. He can be horrified later; at the moment, action is required. He crouches lower to try and stay out of the smoke as he approaches, and then he's next to them, half-kneeling on the ground.]
Hawkeye, do you think you can walk if we get this beam off of you?
[He desperately hopes one of them is capable of walking; experience tells him that person won't be Ril. He can't carry them both, and he refuses to leave either of them behind... this isn't good. Deliberately distracting himself from the problem, he looks at the beam. This wouldn't be so bad if he were still a Time Lord, but...]
Ril, I'm not sure I'll be able to shift this on my own. Are you able to help?
No problem!
Uh... [He wiggles his toes in his boots to check.] Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Ril fixed the paralysis.
Re: No problem!
She'll be as strong as she needs to be. The bones in her hand creak a little as she digs in.]
Three count, then lift.
no subject
One... two... three. [He tries to take more of the weight when they lift it, aware that she's probably exhausted. Somehow, between the two of them, they manage to lift it off Hawkeye, and shift it far enough away before they have to drop it.
Now they just have to get out of here, preferably before the roof finishes caving in.]
no subject
He manages to shove himself backwards just a bit, enough to get him closer to the door.]
Right, now, let's get out of here before we bring the house down.
no subject
Her voice is almost too soft to hear.]
Now we can go.
no subject
Agreed. Shall we hurry, then? I'd really rather not find out just how long my energy can last, should I become trapped here.
[He refrains from adding that fire is a terrible way to go; it would just upset Ril, and he doubts anyone here needs or wants to know that.]
no subject
Do that too much, and we'll have to carry you out of here.
[He scrambles to his feet with Six's help, stomping his feet to make sure they'll carry him. Then he helps Six get Ril to her feet and begins to feel his way out of the room with them.]
no subject
She keeps an eye on both of them, all Healer, a hand on both Six and Hawkeye. Or fingers if she can't catch them properly.]
no subject
[He can lecture Ril about conserving her energy later, for now it's enough that she can still walk. And he's very aware of her hand on him, knowing what she's trying to do... that's incentive enough to use his ability on his throat and hands, ensuring she has no reason to waste more of her own energy on him. At least with a hand on him, he can be certain she isn't about to lose her balance or get lost in the smoke.
He keeps an eye on Hawkeye, too--for a man who just had a ceiling beam pinning him to the floor, he seems to be doing quite well. Hopefully he'll last until they can get out and get everyone proper medical attention...
The fire seems to have gotten worse since he entered the building, but the way out still seems clear. Hopefully it will remain so for a few minutes longer.]
no subject
He stumbles, half-blind thanks to the darkness and smoke, though the rubble towards the outside. And then, with a sigh of relief (that turns into a cough), he feels a slight breeze and can see light.]
That way! We're almost out!
no subject
It's an instant relief when she feels fresher air, though she stumbles once or twice before she pushes the exhaustion away. Five more minutes, ten more, however long it took.]
no subject
It's a relief to feel the breath of fresh air on his face, and he doesn't need Hawkeye's encouragement to pick his speed up a fraction. And then, with a suddenness that's almost shocking, they're out in the fresh air, away from the terrible heat and dank, choking smoke. The Doctor strips off the mask with a sigh of grateful relief, suppressing one last cough even as he turns to the other two.]
Everyone alright? Hawkeye, you should probably think about sitting down, and maybe one of the healers will be so good as to come take another look at you.
[Ril gets a careful look, but he doesn't ask her if she's alright yet. She probably needs to sit down too, but he can tackle that after he's taken care of the person whose spine has recently been repaired.]
