Samantha was fuming, eyes boring into anyone or anything that was in range of her sight. She looked like a powder keg just waiting to blow and was muttering barely audible things that she wanted to do to whoever was responsible for her presence. Everyone that she saw received a suspicious glare, and the girl seemed willing to grab whoever was unlucky enough to stick around for a minute or two too long or looked at her for more than a furtive second.

"Where the hell am I?" she roared after a moment, leaning against a wall and gripping the bridge of her nose. She was angry enough right now that the fact that her magic didn't seem to be working wasn't terrifying her as much as it could have been. She was trying very hard not to think about that. She'd gotten out of worse jams. All she had to do was figure out where she was, and go from there.

OOC: Those interested in meeting her after she has calmed down somewhat or outside of Hel house may feel free to do so. She will be exploring the city all throughout the next several days. She's likely to be grumpy at the very least when you meet her.

[He supposed that was an understandable reaction to being taken somewhere new, without any choice in the matter and by means you hadn't previously known of. Dealing with someone in that kind of agitated state was difficult- determining whether reason or sympathy or something else would calm them. Emotions could be so unpredictable.

But she seemed unavoidable, given that the stairs were past her, and he was likely to be spotted even if he turned to go back now.

Grimmer put on a small nervous-but-friendly smile and approached the girl, staying out of arm's reach.]

Ah- didn't the maid explain things?

Her head swiveled, briefly glaring at him before softening her gaze somewhat. The man did not look overtly aggressive, and she knew for a fact that, even if she was covering her demonic features, her pheromones could have a strong effect on others. She made an effort to keep herself stilled and less animated, but her displeasure was still obvious.

"I do not trust those ... things."

He shrugged slightly, hunching over a little and making his tall frame smaller.

"The people here are pretty strange." Understatement. "But it seems to true."

She stepped so as to be out of his way and grunted. "I'm not the sort to trust something like that just yet. When this water is dealt with, I will be wandering the city. I prefer to trust my own eyes," she said, looking askance at him and sighing. "At least someone around here looks human."

"There are a lot of other things to find out about." He smiles pleasantly, putting his hands in his pockets.

"The travelers all look normal."

"I'm assuming that, if the faceless creature is to be believed, the abductees all have same taste in accessories?" she said, refusing to dignify the term 'Traveler' just yet as she raised her hand to show the bracelet. "That will at least make them easier to identify."

He gave a small laugh in response to that. "I'm afraid so."

Raising his own arm with the bracelet, he commented "I never wore jewlery before, it's a little distracting."

"It feels like wearing a manacle," she said, looking at the thing and scowling at it. She dropped her arm down and shook her head. "I would take it off to experiment with this grayness that others have mentioned, but that gives me a bad feeling."

Was that poetic, or did she have experience with manacles, he wondered as he let his hand drop.

"It's hard enough getting used to seeing all the gray, I think."

"Only slightly, but I'm used to oddities like that at times," she said, shaking her head. True, she hadn't dealt with something so profound for so long, but she had dealt with some weird things at times. "This house is almost more the odd thing for me, and the people in it... that, and the kidnapping of course."

"I'd hope that no one is used to kidnapping!" He said it cheerfully enough, with a smile.

"You must come from an interesting place, if you're used to some of these things." His expression and tone didn't change. Not prying, just making friendly remarks.

"I would need it to happen just a bit often for that to be the case, to be honest," she said, though something sounded a little off about the way that she said it. "And I suppose that the world in which I live is at least a little unusual, though the unusual elements like to be skittish and lurk in the shadows."

After quite a bit of ado yesterday, Aradia had managed to find her lodging... and promptly crashed on a couch in the foyer. She was only going to rest her eyes for a minute, honest...! But yeah, the whole night had passed.

She was jolted awake by a shout, and only managed to blurt a groggy "I didn't do it!" before falling off the couch with a THUD.

Samantha's eyebrows raised. She finished off another conversation with a stranger and moved to investigate the groggy shout. Pausing and leaning over one of the sofas to look at Aradia, she visibly paled. Where Kaz had looked and more importantly smelled demonic, this one looked far more like what she expected of a demon. She was mostly convinced that Kaz had been some other kind, maybe even something from another world, not trustworthy in the slightest but not something to actively think about.

This one, however, had horns and the look of a demon. Samantha dropped to a low crouch, claws out and shouted from behind a sofa, "stay away from me!" This was not going to be her day. Of course the creepy zoo of the insane was going to have a damned demon. She couldn't possibly get lucky and get off scott free that way.

Aradia pulled herself up to a sit, squinting and rubbing her eyes. The heck was going on? Somebody was yelling. Was there a fight? She got back up on the couch and peered curiously over the back of it...

... only to find a girl baring her claws in her direction. Startled, but not scared (it hadn't quite sunk in yet that her normal powers were inoperable), she blinked at the girl. "What? What's wrong?"

A troll staring down from the top of the couch like that was not the best mental image that Samantha needed under the circumstances. She bared her fangs and lunged back from the couch, her back hitting the nearby wall. The swipe of her hands went wide, the demon not realizing that they would be little better than a cat's right now, instead of the edged, fiendish things she was used to using in a pinch.

"Back, Demon!" she snarled, her hat falling off, horns visible as she bristled.

Meanwhile, Aradia was trying to work out just what this girl was. She looked mostly human, except for the sharp teeth and the nails and the horns. Costume pieces? They looked real, though.

"Would you settle down?" she protested, annoyed. "I'm not a demon!"

Her eyes took on a confused and dubious sort of look, one eyebrow raised and blood-red eyes staring at the troll in confusion. She didn't retract her claws, still growling and glaring across at the woman while she tried to parse what was said. It wasn't like other demons hadn't said exactly the same thing, but at the same time they hadn't said it while they looked like that.

"Let's pretend I'm in a gullible mood," she snarled. "What are you if you aren't a demon?" As she said that, her tail got increasingly agitated and whipped around, causing her pants to bulge and shift uncomfortably until it finally forced its way out of her jeans, lashing angrily.

Aradia slumped and dangled her arms over the back of the couch, then raised one hand to brush some stray hairs out of her face. "I'm a troll," she explained. "From a human perspective, we're basically space aliens from another dimension. I don't know if that is applicable to you, though, since I am pretty sure humans don't have tails."

She turned her eyes towards her tail and grabbed for it with a squawk. Her body spun and collapsed onto the ground while she wrestled with the spaded tip and she tried to shove it back into her jeans. "Damn you, not now!" she growled, feeling it wriggle and whip free. She looked over at Aradia like this was her fault and tried to get herself up in a dignified fashion. This was generally unsuccessful.

"I'm not human, as you can plainly see, or at least not all human," she huffed out. "But I'm pretty much from earth. You don't look like any troll I ever saw in a book."

Aradia tried to suppress a smile at Samantha's shenanigans (say that three times fast), and pretty much failed. This girl didn't appear to be very good at ... having a tail.

"What are your book trolls like?" she asked.

Tails were problematic when they had minds of their own. Samantha's was a little bastard with an impish sense of humor when it was loose. She growled at it and grunted. There was nothing for it under the circumstances but to pretend and be sociable, at least a little.

"Ugly things. Half again as tall as me, knotted like an old oak, hairy, stinky bastards that hide in caves or under bridges and either eat people or demand a toll," she said, raising an eyebrow. "So, you're not from earth? Troll just your word for you people or something someone called you when you showed up?"

At least the weird girl seemed to be relaxing a bit, and open to conversation. At this rate they wouldn't wind up fighting at all, which was good. Book trolls sounded hella nasty, though, and Aradia's lip curled at the description.

"No, 'troll' is the official name," she said. "Still, eww. I wonder where the heck they got that impression? I mean, one of my friends used to live in a cave, but she's the exception. And I can't think of anybody who eats people." Even Gamzee, notorious for making out with severed heads, had never crossed that line as far as she knew.

"Well, they're also old stories, and there's a lot of crap I've had to hear about other worlds, so who knows?" Samantha said, shrugging. There was an air of suspicion to her, but it also felt like the sort of thing that never really went away, not normally. She didn't look like she trusted people period.

"You don't look like that to me. You look a lot more like demons where I come from," she admitted. "Most with the horns an obvious stuff wouldn't pretend to be some other monster though, so that's pretty much out. Personally, I'll take an odd space alien over a demon any day of the week."

Though, if she knew that tidbit about Gamzee, there was one half-witted comedian she would be staying the hell away from as a matter of principle.
