The hardest fight of all
Who: Gale Hawthorne/Open
What: Gale is restless, he is out hunting, setting a few snares.
When: Day 212
Where: Balder Park
Rating: PG-13 tops.
Gale had never in his life felt so guilty, it left a choked feeling, the secrets he was keeping now that he was here. It made him restless, edgy, yet he swallowed everything when around others. Kept himself in constant check, what if he let go and the wrong words came out. Even if he had resolved they needed to, he simply was not ready did not know how.
Did not even know if he honestly should, why ruin what good was here with things that could not be changed.
It got him up out of Thor house early, by mid-day he had made his way to Baldr Park, not so much trying to catch game, he was focused in on the knots he was making with an intensity, trying to think through some of what was going on in his mind by working at something he knew, something old, something familiar. Food, survival, maybe if he just slipped into this mindset, not the soldier he had become he could find what he needed to do, the words he was missing.

Around midday, he would be leading one of the older horses into the trees, en route to a creek where the stallion could drink without being shoved aside by the healthier, younger horses.
On the way, Shou took note of Gale furiously tying knots, setting a snare for small game. Curiosity struck him. He'd been shown at a young age how to use a firearm to hunt, but it never suited him. He stopped leading the horse, observing quietly for a moment before finally speaking.
"What're y' tryin' t' catch?"

Till it had been morphed into a means to ruin his life, he gripped the knot in his hand tightly when the man spoke.
"Small game is all these will hold." He made no eye contact, yet knew of the man's position either way, alert, cautious even in his words.

"I kin tell tha'."
Immediately realizing his rudeness, he shuffled his feet, adjusting the way he held the horse's lead. "...I mean 're ya tryin' t' catch anythin' specific..." Not that Gale would know this, but the farmhand had been told to socialize with people, so his interactions were a bit... strained.
"I know where there's a den o' rabbits." This is him trying.

Then he heard the word rabbits and something inside him perked up, he looked up, dusky skin, dark hair and eyes that told of his seam heritage took in the farmhand before him before the young man rose to his feet.
"You show me where they are, I'll catch them and we split it fifty fifty." Food was food and Gale was not going to pass up rabbits."
no subject
"Er..." And so articulate, too.
"Yeah. Lemme jus'... tie 'im up." He gestured to the horse nosing at his shoulder, leading the way to a nearby stream. He tied the horse lead to a nearby tree, making sure to leave enough slack for the beast to bend and drink the water. That done, he started heading further off into the woods.
It felt like an eternity ago, now, but there had once been someone in Asgard who loved rabbits like no other. So Shou had spent a considerable amount of time looking for one to catch as a pet for this person, only to end up being too slow and clumsy to do anything when he did find one.
This endeavor led them to an old fallen tree, having long since become one with the ground. Just under the thick of the trunk, one could make out a small hole dug underneath. Not wanting to make any more noise than necessary, he gestured to it.

He slipped on to the tree trunk, where he could not be seen from the hole and removed a few items, his fingers were schooled, deft in their movements as he fashioned a trap rather than a snare, the point was to catch more than one right off.
That done he moved slowly from the tree and utilized what was in the area to begin setting up several snares, each one would capture the rabbits without killing them.
He intended to use most for food, but there was a little girl he thought may like a pet, so he wanted one left alive, after all, they were not nearly as close to starving as they had been in Panem, it could be afforded.
"We need some kind of food, carrots, something a rabbit would eat." His tone did not go loud, he kept it low, but they needed something to lure the rabbits out and into the traps and snares waiting for them. He had nuts, squirrels had been his main objective, though, he went to his pack all the same to see what he could come up with.
