[There's some flour on one cheek and a whisk in one hand and what looks like the recipe for some kind of cookie open in the book in front of her.

It's kind of a hot mess.]

How are you?

[Sam, once he realizes what's happened, is trying really hard not to laugh. But he steps forward, carefully brushing aside the flour from the book.]

Uh -- great. Hungry, now.

What're you trying to do?

[HUNGRY, YOU SAY? Prepare to have her trying to convince you to try her cookies, Sam.]

I'm trying to make cookies! You wouldn't think it's very hard, but baking sure does use a lot of strange measurements!

If you're hungry, you can have some when I'm done..!

[Arrrrrrgh, he's so susceptible to you kids and your screwed up world. 8(]

Aaah...

[Sam peers into the batter.]

What kind are they?

[It does not help that she is adorable, does it?]

Um...

[She uses a napkin to smudge a bit of chocolate chip out of the way, popping the bit in her mouth when she's done.]

Red velvet chocolate chip!

...right. Well -- I think it might've gotten sidetracked, but once they're all done, sure, I'll try one.

[If he dies, Vriska might kill you. ... again.]

Great! They'll be ready for the oven soon, I just... have to figure out how to make this sugar brown...

[Preferably without burning it or something. And don't worry, they won't be poisonous... probably just too sweet. And a little gooey in the center.]

Hang on, brown sugar is different from regular sugar.

[And Sam immediately moves to the cupboards to pull them open. Being tall is a good thing! And he pulls down a box of brown sugar to hand it down to Aradia.]

Use that instead. Unless... you already dumped too much regular sugar into it.

[Wow, okay- that sure is weird to have a whole other type of sugar- but she can roll with it!]

I haven't put any in, actually! Haha, thanks- that sure would have been embarrassing, huh?

[She also marvels at your ability to reach all the shelves. So taaaaaall.]

One of my friends put a metal can in the microwave once, back home. Mixing up sugars is nothing. Don't worry about it.

[Being tall is awesome. :C But so is being short. Sam just wouldn't know what that feels like.]

Oh dear- that couldn't have ended well.

[At least she knows how to work a microwave?!]

But thank you. Some of this stuff is just so strange- maybe I'll ask Gamzee to help me get a better hang of this, he bakes those pies of his all the time, he must know something.

[Aradia will probably never be very tall, so she won't know what that feels like either.]

[She giggles a little, and then beams at the presentation of measuring cups, reaching for the flour again.]

Yes- he um... types in purple and tends to seem like he's not sure how caps work?

[He also uses the word 'motherfuck' a lot, but Aradia doesn't really do the whole 'swearing' thing save for in extreme circumstances.]

Aah, I think I've seen him around once or twice.

[With a slight nod in understanding.]

I've never met him in person, though.

[Measuring things now, so, so carefully as she talks.]

...Sam, how much is a 'tisp'?

[It takes Sam a second or two -- and glancing at what she's doing -- before he grins to himself.]

A teaspoon. 'TSP' is just the abbreviation.

[The most serious of nods- you can practically see her making mental notes on this, yep.]

Oh... okay- so is a 'tbsp' a different spoon-based measurement, then?

That's a tablespoon, yeah. It's bigger than a teaspoon.

[She doesn't see why she can't just use more of the tisps then but whatever humans are weiiiiiiird.]

Alright- um... egg whites next... but all the eggs are brown..?

The egg whites aren't the color of the egg, they're what's inside. Here --

[And Sam takes an egg and cracks it, but is careful to only let the egg whites drip into the bowl.]

The yolk is yellow, see?

Is that what you guys call that? Haha, weird...!

[Trolls probably call them something weird and technical like protein containment sacs or some shenanigans. Whoops.]

Wow, I think I might have to doublecheck my Human vocabulary a bit then, just to be sure I don't make any more silly mistakes like that...

You should check out the library sometime. I bet there are a lot of Earth dictionaries there that you can look at to expand your illustrious vocabulary.

[With some amusement as he lets her pick out whatever ingredients she needs -- though Sam is subtly nudging away the ones that are wrong when she isn't looking.]

I go there sometimes, I just hadn't thought to go there for that...

[She doesn't notice him nudging things away, she's so focused on the instructions- probably a good thing, since she'd be a little insulted by it.]

But I'll probably do it this week sometime, since I don't really want to get confused by something so simple again!
