Everyone knew about dragons, though only in the beginning of the current age back in thedas did they decide it was the 'Dragon Age' due to a large one appearing again. After that, there have been many smaller ones about and a numerous score of the medium sized ones. Many people believed they may be extinct.

The big ones, the High Dragon... I've only seen two. [ aaaand one was a person. sort of. ]
