[OPEN POST]
Who: Sonya Blade and Open
What: Job hunting and wandering
When: day 355
Where: Anywhere near the Citadel
Rating: PG
Several weeks in this place, Sonya knew she needed to find a jib. As much as she didn't care to get settled in this place, she needed to be practical. It was mentioned in the Network that there was a training school, a place to teach combat. So far it seemed to hit both birds: a place to earn a living as well as keep sharp on her own skills-she hoped anyway. She wasn't in the city when the Gentlemen attacked, but it set the reality that she needed to be at the top of her game-if not for her sake than others.
Her gear for the day were clean and pressed BDUs, neat , but comfortable and roomy enough incase she needed to give a demonstration. Her military dog tags were around her neck and hair hair pinned at the base of her neck.
Since she was here, she might as well get the chance to explore the area as well.

Good afternoon, Sonya.

He is no longer Prince nor King in Asgard. He has no throne and this is not his kingdom to rule.
But the Citadel is his creation, his design. Here, he can guide people forward in the same manner he might've in Camelot. They work together to find their strengths, for themselves and for each other, and there can be no greater accomplishment in Arthur's eyes. It is his pride and it is his home, and so it is that he opens the doors to invite the people of the city in.
Sonya is a new face, which is not hardly surprising to Arthur when he has been here for nearly two Asgardian years and nearing a full Earth year. He has seen people come and go like the days, but he thinks he recognises her from somewhere about. He belts his sword and wipes a rag across his neck and face before tossing it into a pile on the floor ( he'll make Merlin do laundry later ) and making his way over to her.
"Lo, there. Can I help you with anything?" His simple tunic and trousers are already a bit dirty from his earlier classes and training, every bit the medieval man in his element, but his smile is easy and polite.

She returns the bow.] Afternoon, are you taking classes here or just looking around?
no subject
"You could." She took a few steps forward. "I've been looking for a job in the city and was told that this place is for teaching different forms of combat. My name's Sonya Blade, I'm an army officer back home and have been trained to fight for the past ten years."
Unfortunately, she didn't have a resume with her. Even in the strange room she was given, the place didn't see the need to give her one.

I heard about the citadel from communications. Figured it's as good a place as any to land a job.
no subject
I see, you have experience in combat, after all.

[She gave a small nod, still looking around.] Ten years of it, plus two years training for it. Mostly hand-to-hand, explosives, and fire arms, but I made sure to learn about other forms of weaponry as well-stick fighting, knives. A rifle is a soldier's best friend, but even that might jam or run out of ammo.
I may look for one myself. Having a side arm and extra clips couldn't hurt in this place.

Then I am sure you would make a good addition to the Citadel. Maybe you could contact King Arthur Pendragon. I believe he is the one who takes care of things there.

But Sonya presents herself with composure and all due severity. Arthur gives her a brief once over out of habit, sizing her up and measuring her words against her posture, then offers her his hand.
"Arthur Pendragon. These are my establishments, and we are always glad to welcome more through our gates. Tell me, Sonya Blade, what is it that you would call your area of expertise?"

On the other hand, the place he was running looked up to par: not fancy, but organized and utilitarian. If she tried, it almost reminded her of some of the plainer gyms she's trained in while on base.
His next question had her thinking, not because she wasn't sure of an answer, but because it took a moment to narrow it down. She'd been trained in many styles of combat, but even she knew she couldn't call herself an expert in all of them.
"Fire arms and mixed martial arts for the most part." She didn't see the point in just sticking with one style: it wasn't practical. "I'm also an expert in knife and stick fighting."

[She tried not to think of either Kano or Shang Tsung arriving on this place. No matter how funny it would be to see Tsung rendered powerless, she knew the sorcerer well enough to still consider him a deadly enemy.]
[She frowned when he mentioned the name-the name ringing a bell, but even after what she's seen, she's not sure she could jump to conclusions. I've been told of the man's name, just not that he was a king back home.
no subject
Oh, true... I believe he does not present himself as a King in this world... But he organizes the Citadel.
no subject
What about you? You said you were getting lessons to shoot-how're they going?
no subject
I learned how to throw knives... About the guns, I just got to see how it was done. Kara said I was not yet ready.
no subject
[The only upside of the latter was that it helped in her superiors decision to elect her for OCS.]
Both are good skills to hone in on. I'm a fan of fire arms as much as the next soldier, but if you run out of ammo then it's good to have back up. I could help you with actual shooting if you feel you're ready. Of course, that still leaves finding a place to get one.
no subject
Thank you, Sonya. I would have to procure myself a gun first.
no subject
[Or whatever passed for that here.]
She looked around, thinking. You need any help? Not all fire arms are made the same or have the same firing power and it is confusing at first glance.
no subject
[Dany has no idea if there is anything like that.]
I would likely get the simplest one there is, for now.
no subject
[She nodded.] It's also a matter of finding one that weighs comfortably in your hand-too light and the recoil will be too strong, too heavy and it'll be harder on your wrist after each shot.
[True, she would eventually get used to the weight, but there was no sense in running before she could walk as the saying went.]
no subject
Suddenly everything about guns seems more complicated... Maybe I should try a simpler weapon...
no subject
They're only complicated because you're still learning them. It's why I'm offering to help in the first place-makes it easier to narrow down to what you want. Also, I'd feel better owning a side arm for myself as well. [It probably won't do her much good against any gods, but she liked the thought of having one and not needing it as opposed to the opposite.]
no subject
[Dany considers this for a moment.] Thank you, that is a kind offer from your part. I must admit I have seen the efficiency of guns. However, I wonder if I shouldn't consider a weapon such a a bow. It would require accuracy as well, but the arrows can be recovered after the battle...
no subject
[She thought a moment, looking around as she considered. That's true, but a gun is easier to conceal and if someone tried to take you in at close quarters then you're screwed. [This is mostly her thinking outloud, as evident by the fact that she's only partially looking at Dany.] What about knife fighting-you said you were learning to throw knives-this would just be the next step. It involves accuracy as well and you'll be able to recover them like arrows. If you were to find a bowie knife, it'll serve well for fighting and throwing.
[She looked up at her then. Weapons and especially knives was something of speciality for her.]
no subject
Yes, you are right about that... [She considers this for a moment.] This is an idea...
