Who: Naminé (

lethechained) and OPEN.
What: Naminé has a very long day. Shenanigans ensue. [Multiple prompts.]
When: Early morning on the day the event starts -> later in the day.
Where: Sigyn House -> District, any district, the hospital.
Rating: PG-13 for possible violence.

[Sigyn District -> Other Districts - Early Morning]

[This morning, Naminé decided to make an early start. Maybe it was the chill that had her awake and energetic first thing in the morning, or maybe it was the sense that something was amiss. She bundled up (she's been well-retrained) before leaving the house, breath visible in the morning air. Her intention was to travel to the library, which she's come to frequent recently. Whether it's fortunate or unfortunate, she made it a sizable portion of the distance to the library before spotting her first fairy.]

[It's not at all a pleasant experience, and soon enough Naminé is running as fast as she can possibly manage in the opposite direction, at least until she trips and takes a nasty spill right onto the street.]

[Sigyn House - Early/Midmorning]

[Upon returning to the house, Naminé lingers in the entryway, searching the network for any information available on the situation. She looks a little worse for wear, but she'll be attending to anyone who takes shelter in the house or is injured nearby and attempting to warn any housemates who intend to go outside.]

[Sigyn District, Heading toward the Hospital - Midmorning/Late Morning]

[Naminé's decided to make her way to the hospital in the interest of offering her assistance. She'll likely at least attempt to search for an escort for this, but, regardless, she'll be making the trip armed with a mop she borrowed from the house and not much else, moving as quickly as possible (without tripping again).]

[ I'M SO SORRY NAMINE, he sees her running from the fairy and her tripping and just...laughs. But at least he grabs the fairy with body control?? ]

[Ow ground why do you have to hurt so much? She wasn't even bothering you, okay? -- Wait, what's-- someone's laughing? The girl looks up quickly, eyes wide as she searches for the source.]

[Oh.]

[Oh, hello, Kaz. The... guy with anger management issues and violent tendencies. Who... she's seeing in person. Who can see her.]

[Oops.]

[Well, hopefully he's not still in a bad mood about what happened at the ball. She twists to get a better look behind her and her eyes flick back to the fairy that was following her-- oh. Oh hey, that... fairy's acting kind of weird.] --?

Isn't it a bit dangerous for you to be out an' about? Kid should stay inside. [ which he says as he makes the fairy walk over more toward him and hover like a good little minion. ]

[She lifts her torso up a little more, brow knitting as she watches the fairy near him. What's--? That fairy isn't his creation, is it? Or perhaps it just has to do with whatever powers the gods granted him. Remembering a second later that she's been addressed, her eyes dart back toward him.]

... I'm sorry. I didn't realize-- how dangerous it was. [She gets to her feet somewhat cautiously, trying not to wince at the feeling that tells her that there is almost surely going to be an enormous bruise in her near future unless she takes the time to heal it.]

[This may not be the escort she was looking for, but

That mop's probably not gonna get her very far, hon. There's fairies everywhere. But it just so happens that a dark figure is, too--bursting from a nearby alleyway and axe-murdering a few whose attentions were drawn to Namine.]

[Definitely not.]

[She didn't run into too many fairies earlier this morning, perhaps purely out of luck (although whether that's good luck or bad luck is debatable, considering), but now-- well, she's been caught off guard. There are more fairies about than she was expecting, and even if she was properly trained, a mop would indeed be a horribly inadequeate weapon. It's better than nothing, which is why she brought it, but there are just too many fairies for fighting back to even be feasible for someone like her. Her knuckles are white as she grips the mop, looking and hoping for a good chance to run when suddenly someone or something appears out of nowhere and she startles, half-expecting some kind of attack.]

[She's only half right, since she's not the one being attacked. She straightens, eyes wide as she watches the carnage, needing a second to make sense of what, exactly, just happened.]

[ Cloud should not be listening to the whispers nearly as much as he is. In fact it probably says something about him hearing voices too much that they caught his attention before he was even aware of it, an uneasy feeling with a cause that became clear after a few more minutes.

But it's good, at least, for getting him to hoof it through the city, nail bat at the ready. Though at the fairies, he actually hesitates at first. Are these related to the snowmen the gods made before? They don't look dangerous--

That notion is disproven as soon as Cloud is within claws' reach, and though he makes short work of the offending fairies, his chest feels very cold under the scratches of his shirt after he's won and his breath comes short and somewhat painful when he heads out on the move again.

--? Did that girl just fall over there? He walks over, offering a hand. ]

Get up, it's not safe here. ...Naminé?

[ oh my god, he didn't recognize her dressed for winter. (he's just special like that sometimes.) ]

[His movements are practically a blur, as he takes out several more of the obnoxiously vicious creatures, and only suffers from a glanced blast of frostbite on his hand.

But then it ends, and afterwards Vanitas makes eye-contact with her for the first time while standing in the midst of the carnage. He hadn't even noticed her, until now, but once he has there's a glint of recognition there. Oh yes, he remembers her. And even allows a slight smile that's more like a smirk.]

Well, you actually followed my advise. I'm surprised.

--Hey, I know you. [ Which he realizes belatedly as he looks her up and down ]

[Naminé lifts herself up somewhat but lingers on the ground for a moment, gasping for breath. All of that running really took its toll on her, and she's still reeling a little from the rather jarring experience of slipping and smacking into the ground that hard. She appears to have lost any pursuing fairies for the moment, which is quite a relief; she just isn't built for this kind of thing. The sound of someone's footsteps makes her tense slightly before turning in time to see a hand being offered to her. She blinks at it, lips slightly parted in surprise.]

[It's not until she hears his voice that she realizes who that hand belongs to and she looks up, eyes widening a little.]

-- Cloud! [Well, that's a relief. She pauses a second to work out a smile before reaching out to take the offered hand.]

[Naminé winces, but this time, it's not so much because she's expecting to be injured, it's out of sympathy (most of it for the fairies). The slaughter is a horrible thing to watch, yet she still finds it difficult to tear her eyes away. The way he's moving it's hard for her to be completely certain who he is right away, so it's not until he finishes with the fairies that the faint sense of familiarity proves itself appropriate. A chill runs down her spine, and if she hadn't already felt ill from watching him strike down fairies, she'd have begun to feel that way then.]

[For a moment, she's confused, suspicious of his motives for assisting her - and then she realizes it might not have been on purpose at all. Attempting to rein in her quiet horror, she pulls together a straight but grim expression as she watches him, watches that recognition and that little smile that does absolutely nothing to help her keep her on expression under control. She's still holding on to that mop for dear life.]

[So he remembers her. Were it almost anyone else, she might be pleased. She hesitates, quickly running through their previous conversations in her mind.]

... It was good advice.

[Staying out of his way is probably the right idea. ~~It's really too bad that she can't seem to stop meddling.~~]

[She freezes momentarily before continuing to straighten until she's properly upright, posture stiff. Her hands lace together for comfort.]

... Yes. We saw each other at the ball. [~~And they spoke even before that, but she won't mention it.~~]

We did...? --Oh yeah. [ squinting at her :I ]

Told ya.

[Despite her timidness and quiet, reserved response, Vanitas realizes that she must have a fair amount of backbone to even attempt to go out in this fray. The weapon she's chosen is laughable, but it must've been the only thing available.

It's a curious new layer to their previous encounter, and makes him cock his head at her, slightly.]

Are you really hoping to defend yourself with that?

[She nods and continues to look back at him, trying to keep as straight a face as possible. Yes, Kaz, good, just accept that you met at the dance and not any time before that when she may or may not have been attempting to convince you not to murder that guy you don't like because obviously that part never happened.]

[She wonders from time to time what people are thinking when they look at her, but rarely does she wonder that so frequently as when it's him doing the looking (reading?). It's purely because whatever those thoughts are, they could be dangerous, and she worries that she'll do something that will let him know too much, or in some way inspire his more violent tendencies. She watches him back, at least until he speaks again.]

[The girl glances down at the mop still clutched in her hands and back to him, and at least has the decency to look a tiny bit ashamed.]

It's-- better than nothing. [It's not antagonistic and actually not too defensive. As for actually defending herself... well, that might be a lost cause, regardless. Whacking the fairies with the mop and running, on the other hand, is perhaps a little more possible for her. It's obvious she hasn't always gotten away unharmed; she's a little frostbitten in places and there are tears here and there in her clothes, the most noticable of which are on one of her arms, where the sleeve of the coat she's wearing is partially shredded. Any bleeding that particular incident might have caused is either very light or hidden in the mess of fabric.]

[ Too bad Namine a girl on her own out here has him intrigued!! So he's walking on over and purposely towering over her ]

Where were you headed off to in a hurry?

Can't argue there. [And yes, he definitely takes note of her condition, but there's not an inkling of sympathy in his eyes. He's certainly not gonna give his own weapon to her, after scoring it out of the wood pile behind one of the blacksmith's shops.

But she's also just intriguing enough that he doesn't want her to die. And maybe, if he plays his cards right he can find out a little more about her. That look she'd given him when they'd first run into each other has never left his mind--that glint of simultaneous recognition and terror in her eyes had made a strong impression--and after seeing her 'double' in the Library, well.]

By the way... I didn't get your name.

[Oh man. She's just... going to stand very, very still. Don't hurt her--]

I--... away from that. [By which she means the fairy.]

[She wouldn't believe in the sincerity of any such sympathy or gesture. Frankly, she's a lot more comfortable without such things. This, as it is, is, if not predictable, then at least it is... easier to deal with.

Except he's asking for her name. The line that is her mouth tightens slightly, her hesitation obvious. She really... really does not want to give him that information. It's just too easy to track someone on the network if you know their name. It's easier to track them anywhere with it, really. But if she doesn't give it....]

I... didn't get yours, either. [This, too, is not said in a belligerent or offensive way. It's every bit as benign as the late, faint smile that she fakes, and rather convincingly at that.]

[ SCREECH IS NOT THAT HORRID TO PEOPLE OKAY ]

I meant why are you out here to begin with?

I was... [She... doesn't really want to tell him any more than she has to, but,] ... going to the library. I didn't know the fairies were here until I-- got this far.

[WELL WHOOPS. Her eyebrows knit. How did she miss that--]
