What: Ririchiyo really needs to learn how to keep her mouth shut so Cruz the trap cosplayer barges in to make sure of that. And then Fire vs. Ice battle commences.
When: Day 63.
Where: Odin House, room 402.
Rating: PG-13 for violence and bratty stubborn kids.

[ of all things to happen, this was a development that she hadn’t foreseen despite her constant baiting. her bad habit had landed her in a few places in the past, but never had it been too extreme of a consequence before. she’d opened her mouth without thinking when Cruz had asked her what house she was in, and in all honestly? she wasn’t prepared for what was going to happen. she knew eventually her habit would land her in situations she didn’t want to be in, but she never thought that someone would actually want to punch sense in to her. and that’s literally, rather than the expression.

when the door swings open, her defenses shoot up automatically. ]

Unlike you, I don’t have all day so I would rather we got this over swiftly and quickly. I won’t promise that I’ll go easy on you, you trap cosplayer.

[He should've just shut the feed off and not had listened to her words. Cruz could've done that and should have. However, everything she said... It just really pissed him off. He didn't have time to even think of a proper plan to counterattack against her. Did she even have a power? He didn't know because he didn't think clearly.

If she just said "I'm sorry", it all could've been avoided. But the way she looked down on him like he was trash and the way she kept berating him.... It just really hit a nerve. He didn't know why he was acting out like this, but for once... He was really mad at someone.]

--Shut up!! The way you look down on others and treat them like trash, it's just like-- [Arclight? No, she wasn't as bad as that. But she certainly had a superiority complex.] No, it doesn't matter! I won't let you talk down on others anymore!

[ the intensity of his volume was enough to scare her-- or it would of had he not added in the last line. given her history of fighting off different types of youkai, to say that she was use to mortal combat was a bit of an understatement. however, here it was different and she’d already came to terms with the fact that she didn’t have her actual powers from back home but she still healed faster than the average human; not to the point that she was invisible, but more to the point where she got over body damage slightly quicker than someone else would on a good day.

the good thing she could think of right now was how this would probably be a good time to test out her newly leveled up ice magic. she hadn’t tested it out, so now was the perfect chance. given the nature of her power, it was easy to tell that the temperture of the room had dropped to bellow freezing; well bellow, especially if one were to take the ice that was forming in the air around her which gave off a distinct chill of Winter. it wasn’t exactly on par with her naginata were she to still have her ability to transform into her oni youkai form, but it was close enough as she creates a semi-large icicle out of nowhere; clearly this was to be her defense weapon for the meantime. ]

So you’re some hero of justice? I won’t say I’m surprised, but you really don’t look the part. Not that it interests me, but you really are the persistent type aren’t you? Well, I’ll just have to teach you a lesson about how persistence isn’t always the key!

[Thankfully, Cruz was more durable than he looked. He could take massive beatdowns and still survive. Not that he was aware of how strong his body truly was. Then there was that fact that he was a Main Character and they don't really die. They just suffer a lot of abuse. He was about to throw another retort at her hero of justice comment, but he notices the temperture taking a major drop.]

....!? This is-- [Similar, no, exactly like Strom's Fragment! It didn't take a second to realize that was her power here. Now Cruz really had to start thinking about his counterattack against her. Or maybe he should find a weapon to hold himself off? That icicle could easily do a number on him if she tried to kill him. For now, Cruz would have to shuffle around for... Bingo! For now, he would have to hold himself off with a pole. He's not sure how strong it will last against her icicle. But as the saying goes, the biggest offense is the best defense.]

I'm not a hero or anything like that! And even with this dramatic first meeting, I still don't know your name!

[ without a second thought, she jumps and land her attack. it wasn’t exactly fast, but it certainly held more strength in the blow than one would expected from someone of Ririchiyos’ height. however, she was somewhat speedy in landing her icicle so that it scratched the surface of Cruz; the glint in her eyes, after all, meant she was serious when she said she wouldn’t go easy on him as they held a hunger in them of yearning for a battle.

at his words she takes another swing, her attacks becoming more and more energetic and lively. she hadn’t tested her powers in such a way before, so it was certainly giving her a thrill of some kind that got her blood pumping and her head spinning. every movement she did gave off a feeling of seriousness, almost as if to prove themselves as not joking attacks. knowing her health though, it didn’t take her body long to start perspiring as she began to pant. ]

H...Haah... Are you even in the position to say something like that? I don’t know your name, but I’ll make a... h...haaahh... deal with you. I’ll tell you my name if you win.

[At some point, Cruz's hair gets undone from the icicle ripping out the ribbon in his hair. He's been in life-and-death situations before, so he's finding himself dodging and even parrying her attacks out of desperation and instinct more than actual thinking. You would think that Cruz would stop to think about how he's even keeping up with her, but he's more focused on her erratic breathing and the look in her eye. He's not sure what's going on, but it looked like he wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon.

In the end, Cruz is also panting... But not as hard as she is. He was really mad at her at first, but now he's starting to get a bit worried for her sake more than his own. ]

Haaah... ha... F... Fine! I'll do the same if you beat me! But... haaah... don't you think you should take a break before we go at it again? [... EVEN NOW HE'S STILL POLITE.]

[ she finds herself feeling satisfied at Cruzs’ uneven breathing that matches her own panting, so much that she finds herself landing more and more strikes on his body as she begins to actually land physical attacks on him; as in, kicks, punches, etc. even though her breathing becomes more and more uneven with every blow she lands successfully, she still remains stubborn in the fact of not giving in. however, at this point, Ririchiyo was just thinking it more as an arm wrestling match between a friend, despite the blood-thirsty look in her eye which seemed to deny that.

irritated at how the other boy kept on dodging her attacks rather than defending himself and landing attacks on her, in her frustration and desperation she puts in more power as if trying to urge Cruz to be more serious in this fight and that it wasn’t a game to her. when it came to these type of things, Ririchiyo really put in her all while, at the same time, being far too obstinate for it to be considered healthy. despite her chest getting tighter and her body becoming harder to move around so dexterously, she resumes with her assaults. ]

Stop dodging my attacks and just land one on me! [ WHAM. another strike from her, her body now shaking somewhat. ] At this rate... haah... this fight will be over and you won’t of taught me any lesson at all.

[He wasn't expecting punches or kicks to be landed! Now that he thought about it, she was really strong and it was overwhelming him. He felt the kicks and punches cut into his body along with the icicle. At this point, it looked like he was going to be able to keep up with this kind of assult. Ririchiyo wasn't holding back anything, but Cruz wasn't even aware that he was holding himself back.

"W-w-why is she attacking so seriously?! Is she really going to kill me...!?" He was so stupid for getting angry and letting his emotions take control. All because he wanted to bring her down a notch and prove himself superior to her.

"I really can't do anything to defend against her!" He didn't even realize that he had a power that could've turned things around in his favor.

Cruz still holds onto the pole as he finds himself landing on his butt on driven into a corner like a trapped animal. This was really bad... There were plenty of times when he was in the exact same position when someone would come to his rescue and save his life. Right now, it looked like that small chance, wasn't going to happen... He was scared...

He didn't want to die... Especially not on his first day here!] Waaaaaaaaaah....!!!

[Without a moment to spare, the door to the room will finally open with a large bang after harshly slamming into the wall. A man wearing only a black suit will finally take action against the senseless fighting between them. There was one thing Soushi did not approve of an unfair fight between two individuals. He had to put to a stop to it for his master's own benefit along with the other person's.

Without a moment to lose, Soushi will courageously step in the line of fire between Ririchiyo and the other person with a stern expression on his face.]

Ririchiyo-sama, that's enough! There is no reason to continue to fight like this any longer. You've won. The duel is now over.

[His expression will grow a bit grave because he did not really consider it a victory for his master's part. Not at all, but he will not make any unnecessary comments over it.]

[ the crying along with Miketsukami barging in and declaring an end to their fight all came as a surprise to Ririchiyo as her body freezes at his words. this wasn’t how it was supposed to go...! this was making her look like a bully-- something she didn’t wish to ever be as she knew very well how it felt to be on the receiving end of the stick. in her obedience she allows for her newly leveled up power to melt the icicle she’d create, thus reducing it back to water once more.

with the thrill and adrenaline dying down, she finally regains her senses as she takes notice of Cruz in his cowering position, almost like a scared animal. she wanted to apologize, to comfort him when seeing him look so helpless but that would never happen at this rate so, instead, she folds her arms across her chest as she turns her body to the side in a rather bratish way, to put simply. she had to ignore Miketsukamis’ grave expression-- she didn’t want to feel guilty about something that wasn’t even any of his business on top of other things. ]

That kid wanted to teach me a lesson, so he came barging in here to start a duel. I won’t tell you that you’re directing your animosity to the wrong person, because even I’m not that shallow-minded, but I will tell you that none of this was my idea. Well, by the end of the day it doesn’t matter for, as you said, I won.

[ “You idiot! That’s not something you should be saying to Miketsukami-kun! Even I can admit this act was completely out of character for someone like me!” ]

Wait a second... [He sighs in relief as he gets up and drops the pole. Then politely bows over to Miketsukami.] Um... Thank you very much for helping me. Sorry for getting you involved in all of this.

S-she's right, though... I ended up getting angry and came to her room, so a part of this is my fault. It was completely out of character for me, too.

[But then, he'll direct his gaze over to Ririchiyo. That whimpy image from before disappears completely and it's replaced with a more steely and determined look.]

... Ririchiyo-san, right? This can't be called a proper fight at all! I could tell that you were pushing yourself and if we kept going, you would've fainted. That's why I didn't want to attack you since you looked like you were already at your limit. It would've been like hurting a sick person and I didn't want to do that.

I'll admit that you're very strong, but I'd rather settle our differences through something else.

[ firstly, the number one thing that bugged her was how despite knowing her name just now, already he was referring to her so familiarly. the other thing that bugged her was how he looked down on her-- or, at least, from her view point it looked like that. naturally she couldn’t stop her bad habit from kicking up. ]

You probably would've beat the crap out of me, but I might still gotten up even after that. [At least he's being honest?]

... Not to mention, I just realized that I never used the power given to me. So I don't really know how it would've matched up against yours.

Technically, you could of easily melted my weapon with your own ability. Fire melts ice, but ice doesn’t freeze fire as it isn’t a liquid, solid or gas. However, when fire melts ice it turns the ice into water thus making it so it can put out the fires flames. By that logic, I would of still won.

Wait a second... Fire can still beat ice! At extremely high temperatures, ice undergoes a chemical reaction! I've heard that sometimes water is completely ineffectual in putting out a great fire. And that sometimes, it can have the exact opposite effect.

Water is made up of Hydrogen and Oxygen!

Both hydrogen and oxygen have a property that becomes the complete opposite after they have to bond to form water. Namely, they are extremely flammable!

In other words, if the temperature was high enough to destroy the water's molecular bonds...

Heh. When you word it like that, it makes you sound utterly ridiculous.

So you know your science, impressive. However, while it’s true that water is certainly a miracle liquid and is the most essential thing us, on this planet as human beings, need to live it is also referred to as a universal solvent due to many substances disolving in it. Because the bonding electrons are shared unequally by the hydrogen and oxygen atoms, a partial negative charge (ð-) forms at the oxygen end of the water molecule, and a partial positive charge (ð+) forms at the hydrogen ends. Since the hydrogen and oxygen atoms in the molecule carry opposite--though partial--charges, nearby water molecules are attracted to each other like tiny little magnets. The electrostatic attraction between the ð+ hydrogen and the ð- oxygen in adjacent molecules is called hydrogen bonding.

Hydrogen bonding makes water molecules “stick” together. While hydrogen bonds are relatively weak compared to other types of bonds, they are strong enough to give water many unique properties. As water freezes into ice, the molecules become frozen in place and begin to arrange themselves in a rigid lattice structure. [ at this part, she takes out a piece of paper and starts drawing on it before showing it to Cruz, quite pleased with her work. ]

The structure that forms in the solid ice crystal actually has large holes in it. Therefore, in a given volume of ice, there are fewer water molecules than in the same volume of liquid water. In other words, ice is less dense than liquid water and will float on the surface of the liquid.

Fire is made up of fuel, heat and oxygen. It can be made so long as you have those ignition sources; that can go as far as making sure you have sticks that you can rub together vigorously to make a spark for the heat factor, twigs to put in a pile for the fuel followed up with air as oxygen. So long as you combine those three elements, you can always make fire. You say that ice can explosively combust into flames, but by pure logic it can only turn into steam after the ice melts into water and then is heated to boiling point!

By that logic, it is near impossible for fire to win out over water. So, no matter what way you tried to bend and explain it, ice is superior to the destructive likes of fire.
