It doesn't matter if you're at the 33rd annual plumbers convention or an anime con
Who: Riku (
darkbreak ) and Data Riku (
dataprotector )
What: THE FIRST ANNUAL RIKU CONVENTION IS IN TOOOOOWN
When: Directly after this
Where: Heimdall House
Rating: FUCK THE DIDNEY. IT DIDNEY
[Riku isn't exactly nervous per se. It's not the first time someone had made a copy of him, and judging by this latest revelation, certainly wouldn't be the last. But, he still couldn't help but be annoyed by the situation. He has thought that the days of making copies of people were long gone, ending with his own replica (and perhaps even Xion, but he needs more information to confirm that situation). Still, he supposes he should be somewhat thankful that this one was at least willing to talk and share some information, and wasn't outright hostile to him.
...But that still didn't stop Riku from dragging all Way to the Dawn with him. It's only a precaution. People can act differently on the network than they do in real situations.
He raps his knuckles on the door twice.] Hey. It's me.

He raps his knuckles on the door twice.] Hey. It's me.
no subject
Come in.
[Riku will find him sitting cross-legged on his bed, screen still hovering before him as he quickly memorizes his open tabs so that he can pick them up one they are finished here.
A moment later, he is already tapping the crystal of his bracelet to shut it off and turning to his Original.]
Thank you for agreeing to meet me. I apologize for trouble my presence here causes for you.
no subject
He shuts the door swiftly behind himself, his Keyblade strapped to his back. It's nice to see the Journal - and in a way, himself - looking so calm. It's been a long time since he could relax like the younger version of himself looks like he has.
He doesn't go much further than the door, only a few steps in because he's unsure of just... what to do, where to stand. Cloned face or not, Riku still doesn't know anything about this boy in front of him.
Shoving his hands in his pockets instead of approaching. It eases his stance a little bit at least.]
Nah, like I said, you've been careful. More than others might be.
Sora and others might not understand, but it's no fault of yours or theirs.
[At least he's hoping that it's not. Don't prove him wrong, Dataku.]
no subject
He really should offer the Original a seat, that would only be polite, but... the other one looks kind of tense. Hands in his pockets or not. Not that the Journal blames him.]
It's still bound to cause trouble for you in the future.
[Because as careful as he might be, he knows he can't stay in the shadows forever (and he has no idea how the Nameless One has managed for so long. One more question to ask him when they finally meet.)
He shifts, maybe showing the first sign of slight unease, moving out of his cross-legged seat and toward the edge of the bed, putting his feet to the ground.]
...I'm sure, you have questions..?
[Okay, they have already covered that - but unless Riku asks, the Journal can't really start, can he?]
no subject
[Riku watches the other carefully as he moves. Things seem okay, calm even, and his hand's not hovering over his Keyblade just yet, but he still needs to keep a close eye for any sudden movements against him.]
Yeah. Why don't you start from the beginning. You said you were Jiminy's Journal, but I can tell you're something more than just that.
[His jaw tightens. He does not blame the Journal for being nervous or being here, but he'd like to get to the bottom of this.]
no subject
He just nods at that... looking maybe just a little bit relieved. His eyes turn away for just a moment as he tries to figure out, how much to say... and what to omit. There are things that can't be revealed yet, that he can't confirm if Riku asks; he has given his word and he intents to keep it.
Still... he is not planning to lie either, and if Riku figures out things himself, then that's probably all the better for all of them.]
You are right... I am Jiminy's Journal, but... that wasn't what I started out being. Originally all I used to be, was the record of you as written within the Journal. However... when the memories within the Journal were torn apart and then put together again, something... went wrong. Anomalies... Bugs appeared within the data of the memories, threatening them.
So... in order to protect them, I was given each and every memory still left intact. To make sure they could not be corrupted... and to set things into motion.
no subject
It's going to be hard. For once he's going to be like Sora and kept in the dark about certain details. It's going to annoy him, going to piss him off because there's now things he doesn't know about after being so used to knowing more than either of his friends would ever think about.]
Anomalies... [He sighs.] Who was the one that gave you all those memories? You couldn't have just done it by yourself.
no subject
He nods in confirmation.]
I couldn't have. Even so... I don't know who is responsible or why they gave them to me of all possible vessels.
[...He has an idea though, maybe. But he won't voice that just yet.]
no subject
[Not him. Not 'we'. He might have been a memory or another version od him, but Riku by no means believe the boy in front of him to be him.]
What were the things to be set in motion?
no subject
I suppose...
[He is likely better suited for this particular task than say... Sora.
The Journal would readily agree with that; at best maybe, without those memories, he is only an imprint of who Riku once had been perceived to be. With that in mind, how could he ever dare to think himself anything like the Original?]
When I became... the avatar of the Journal, for the lack of a better term, I moved to investigate the source of the bugs. However, all I could find was a message that was not added by Jiminy's hand, hinting at the secrets hidden within the memories.
[He lifts his head, lips pressing together for just a second before he recites that message.]
"Their hurting will be mended when you return to end it."
no subject
[It's a little more than a mumble as Riku thinks. Sure, there was suffering on other worlds with the Heartless, Darkness and Nobodies, but that was too broad. The way the message was worded... Its a little more specific.
Could it be about the other Nobodies? The human-like ones. Namine and Roxas... They definitely could qualify.]
...It sounds like something meant for Sora. Did you find out who it was?
no subject
[They. A specific group of person that back home is still hurting as they speak. The Journal doesn't know their names or faces - only his Sora, King Mickey, Naminé and maybe the Nameless One do - but if Riku shared his suspicions (and explained to him who Roxas is), he would definitely agree.]
I didn't. But someone else did.
[From that slight, fond smile that is flickering over his face, it shouldn't be too hard to guess just who that had been.]
no subject
He wants to return that smile, but he feels so conflicted over it. A message meant for Sora, something cryptic for him (considering that even now, he doesn't know everything that's happened to him) to handle in the future. And something that probably does involve Roxas and Namine and... maybe even others.
Maybe what they did to mend the worlds from Xemnas' -- and Xehanort's -- influence wasn't enough. But then, what could they do to make up for that here?
Sora. Or, maybe... your Sora.
[...] But why hadn't the message been noticed earlier?
no subject
Yes.
[The datascape's Sora. His best friend, even though he doesn't even remember his adventures.
He shakes his head.]
I don't know.
[He has no idea how much time has passed on the outside, or what happened between the last entry of the Journal and the digitization of the datascape. Maybe there had never been the time for Jiminy to thoroughly check the Journal.]
how did I mess up on the coding ;; sorry
Maybe there wasn't any time to check, but Rikus thoughts head toward more malicious possibilities. Of someone getting their hands on it and manually adding it in to send them on a wild goose chase.
Hmm, what other questions could he ask?]
It sounds like you weren't investigating it on your own.
It's okay! <3333
...Whelp. The Journal wouldn't call it a wild goose chase. He is very happy to have been able to serve for that purpose, okay?]
I wasn't. King Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Jiminy discovered the message on the outside and started to investigate themselves. They were a great help in discovering the truth.
no subject
And he's not trying to be insulting or anything. Just cautious. He knows that there are some people out there that would manipulate information if they had the chance.
So he appreciates it ;;]
Huh. Seems like something the King would do. [But then... why didn't he let them know about it? Sora and him could have done something.]
So then, what is the truth?
no subject
He knows Riku is only being careful. He approves of it, in fact and... really wishes he were able to tell him more than he is/will. But it's not time yet and the Journal is aware of that too. So, until then...]
I'm sorry, but... I can't tell you.
no subject
I guess what I should ask is what can you tell me.
