[OPEN] Asgard Olympics Day 111

Who: anyone!
What: Asgard Olympics Event
When: Day 111 (July 11-12)
Where: Gefion Park
Rating: G to R (take anything higher to a locked log please!)

The first day of the festival, characters will wake up to hear loud music coming from the park. If they go to find the source, they'll find a full festival with food stands, carnival games, etc. There is a large stage set up, and behind it is a temporary building full of all the materials needed for all three evens of the day.

When you make a thread, be sure to fill out your subject line! Make sure people know where you are and what you're doing. For the sake of making the log easier on browsers, we won't be posting category threads for each event, so try putting "spelling bee / drinking contest / disguise contest / games / food stands" or whatever is relevant in your subject line.

The contests for the day are as follows:

First, the Spelling Bee. For this event, players will be asked to come on stage and recite word meanings by memory. They can ask for the word to be used in a sentence, but if they mess up they're out and the last one standing wins.

The winners of the spelling bee will be:
First Place: River Tam (Odin)
Second Place: Shion (Sigyn)

Second, the Drinking Contest. Characters can enter this even if they seem too young, as there is no legal drinking age in Asgard. Characters will be given their choice of a fine wine or beer (with equal alcohol content). They will be given new glasses all at the same time (so no one has to go through more cups than another), and the last one to give in or pass out wins.

The winners of the drinking contest will be:
First Place: Korea (Freya)
Second Place: Kurogane (Heimdall)

Third, the Disguise Contest. Characters will be able to use makeup, costumes and etc all provided in the temporary building to make themselves look like someone else. NPC judges (all native shop owners from Loki district who've had their colour restored) will determine who is most convincing.

The winners of the disguise contest will be:
First Place: Masaharu Niou (Loki)
Second Place: Claire Novak (Heimdall)

All prizes will be given out at the end of day 113, so look at that log for more info.

In the evening once it gets dark, the carnival games and food stands will be lit up, and the food will change from carnival junk food to really good food from all worlds (even yours!) The music will change from sourceless carnival music to live music from NPC musicians (look how much more creative they are with their colour) or from any characters who choose to perform. It's much like an open mic night.

Have fun, play hard, and good try to everyone who competes! Remember, your characters had to sign in for events ICly, but they're welcome to be thrown in even if you didn't sign them up already OOCly. Just jump into whatever you'd like!

[ it's only out of curiosity claudia follows other travellers from freya's welcome hall to the olympics. as she suspected, as a carnival party and as an olympic event, it isn't like any she knows in italia — but that isn't a bad thing, is it? (yes.) a simple white and burgundy dress almost feels too elegant for the atmosphere, and the floral jewelry could have been saved for another day. this isn't very exciting, asinine because of host and competition, though it serves a purpose like the spring party: a place to observe travellers, to root out ally and enemy. so claudia finds a high seat, ale in hand, and watches. she cheers, contained but not unenthused, for friends and even travellers she doesn't know; her attention remains on stage and spectators. ]
