Who: EVERYONE
What: the Endgame mingle log
When: Days 574-576 ( Feb. 21-26 )
Where: inside Asgard and above Ginnungagap
Rating: PG-13. Anything above this should be taken to a private log, please!

Day 574 ( Feb. 21/22 )
A black sun rises over a red sky. The air is dry and acrid.
Outside
  • The army marches onward to Ginnungagap.
  • A group of messengers is sent to bring Surt a request for audience. They do not return.
  • Inside
  • Natives pray and sing hymns as they wait for news.

  • Day 575 ( Feb. 23/24 )
The sky begins to rain acidic, exposed flammable objects catching ablaze or rotting in seconds. Minor earthquakes split the earth.
    Outside
  • One of the messengers is returned beaten.
  • Battle ensues. The army almost defeats the Fire Giant rebels.
  • Surt arrives to call a ceasefire and return the other messengers.
  • Inside
  • The Communication Center directs all available hands to the god temples to activate the runic arrays with their force of will. Natives join in sharing the burden of sacrifice.
  • A white glow begins to build.

  • Day 576 ( Feb. 25/26 )
The Mermaids send a storm built above Mimisbrunnr to shower across the lands and combat the tainted rain with pure spiritual water. A white shimmer meets the raindrops all across the globe.
    Outside
  • The gods are summoned back to Asgard and leave the audience with Surt in the hands of the Travellers.
  • Surt claims he did not order the battle of yesterday. Some do not believe him, and others beg for a chance to hear him out.
  • The diplomatic meeting continues, but Surt seems under the impression he holds the high hand.
  • Before battle can break out, a blinding white light interrupts them.
  • Inside
  • The gods are summoned to the center of their runes to pour their own lifeforce into it alongside the citizens'.
  • The white light builds to consume Asgard and bursts into the sky to cover all of Yggdrasil.

  • A few things happen at once:
    • In the first second of being blinded by white light, Travellers are given visions of the Tree whole and healthy. They feel the press of lips to their foreheads and a lyrical "Thank you" in their souls.
    • Time is momentarily suspended. Day and night pass like the beat of hummingbird's wings. The seasons cycle through faster than a heartbeat before settling on spring.
    • The red sky is completely erased and the sun burns white for five days. Looking upon it grants brief visions of canon conflict resolutions.
    • Magma rises up to fill in the cracks in the ground. The geography of the world shifts and settles in a closer proximity.
    • Surt is returned to infancy as a sign of the World Tree's renewal of life, giving the gods a chance to raise the Giants to live in harmony instead of discord. Basically this happens. The Fire Giants surrender out of confusion.
    • Frigg awakens and goes around showering the Travellers in adoration, gratitude, and assurances that all worlds, including those unravelled previously, are thriving heartily.

    27 December 2014 @ 04:22 pm
    Who: Everyone!
What: The event mingle for the Into the Fire event.
    When: Days 561-563.
    Where: Everywhere. Literally.
Rating: PG-13 tops! If it gets worse, move to a private log please.

    DAY 561 (Dec 27)
On the night of Day 561, Travelers in Asgard may find themselves going home while they sleep, though perhaps not on the sort of terms that they're used to. They will find their feet planted firmly on the ground in their home worlds with all memories of Asgard in tact, but they will be completely unable to interact with anyone or anything. It will be almost like they have been thrust into a very realistic holographic recreation of what was happening in their world whenever they were brought to Asgard.

They may stay for a few minutes or for up to a few hours, and may appear anywhere in their world, and as stated before will be unable to actually interact in any capacity.

    DAY 562 (Dec 28-29)
Starting on Day 562, a touch to any Longtoothed Reinhare will no longer bring just visions of your home or loved ones. Your character may begin seeing people and places that or she has no way of recognizing. That night, when they sleep, they may "appear" in a world that does not belong to them alongside the person it does belong to.. Just as before, they will not be able to interact with or affect the environment. A character visiting the dreamlike impression of another person's canon will not be able to get more than fifteen feet away from his or her "host" before waking abruptly.

    DAY 563 (Dec 30-31)
On Day 563, characters may find themselves mentally slipping into other worlds whenever their eyes are shut without the need of a "host" at all. On this day, the locations won't be limited to just the worlds of people currently in the city. The canons of any character who has ever been in game are fair game on this day and night. Some people may even find themselves drifting through parts of the world of Asgard as it currently is: dwarves working hard in the mountains, the merfolk living at peace, the remains of the frost giants wandering aimlessly in the ruins of Thrymheim.

Where: EVERYWHERE. Or at least everywhere where there's still snow, which is most everywhere.
    Rating: PG-13

    Who: Everyone!
What: The event mingle for the And A Happy New Year event.
    When: Days 555-557
    Where: Anywhere in town!
Rating: PG-13 tops! If it gets worse, move to a private log please.

    DAY 555 (Dec 14-15)
As the last of the black ice is cleared from the city - and the last of its natives wake from their gray slumber - a cautious winter celebration begins. The city itself opens its doors wide to the allied forces still camped outside it and the natives invite the Travelers to observe the beginning of Winter and the approach of the end of the Asgardian year with them.

The day begins with what seems like a typical party in the streets. There is food, music, and an attitude of general warmth and hope from the Natives that hasn't been quite so present in a long time. It will be interrupted in the early afternoon by a snowball fight that starts in one sector of the city and quickly snowballs out of control. For a few hours, the city itself will become a veritable warzone, with most of the city's native children and adults alike getting in on the fight! Watch your back and take no prisoners. (NOTE: Please check THIS LINK for player plot information about the snowball fight!)

    DAY 556 (Dec 16-17)
Day 556 sees a brief return to old - and maybe familiar - tricks. The festivities continue on outside, but some Travelers throughout the course of the day may find themselves influenced by magical impulse… all in the name of good holiday fun, of course.

The effects of these miniature curses will last anywhere between ten minutes and an hour and happen spontaneously, and most of them are echoes of similar curses that have been laid upon the city before. Travelers may find themselves:
    • Unable to lie or actively compelled to blurt truths, consequences be damned
    • Only able to communicate in poetry or song
    • Given a nagging urge to (sincerely!) compliment anyone they come across
    • Compelled to just hold hands with whoever they're near
    • Caught under sprigs of magic mistletoe that seem to appear at arbitrary times at equally arbitrary places (though they can either be kissed or just wait a few minutes for it to disappear again)

Your character can be affected by as many and as often as you'd like, but none of them are mandatory. To reward the Travelers for putting up with that silliness one final time, they will find in their rooms that night a basket of chocolate, a horrendously ugly Christmas sweater, and one item from home. The item can be anything that fits within the game's technological and magical rules! If you'd like your character to receive something, please just drop a comment HERE to get it approved.

    DAY 557 (Dec 18-19)
Day 557 marks the final day of celebration. That evening, twinkling, magical fairy lights will cover the edges of buildings and the branches of trees all over the city. There are light displays of amazing proportion all over the city, and the Welcome Halls are done up in entirely their signature color. the Travelers will be invited into the castle again for a ball much like the one last year. Thor will announce the end of curfew and tell everyone to party hard, because the hunt for both Surt and a way to heal the World Tree will begin after this.

The party will last until midnight, when everyone will be shuffled out into the courtyard for a brilliant fireworks display. It represents both the victory over Thiazi and the hope that the celebration of this coming new year will not be the last.

    Where: Anywhere in town!
Rating: PG-13 tops! If it gets worse, move to a private log please.

    DAY 546 (Nov 26-27)
A message will arrive at the gates that more reinforcements from other cities are on the way. The death of the Frost Giants' queen has not gone unnoticed by the rest of the world -- not in small because it also means that the prophecy following Ragnarok can no longer happen as foretold. Unable to sit back and rely on fate now, groups of varying sizes from all over begin to arrive. First come scholars and medics from Vanaheim, followed by a ragtag but enthusiastic militia from Salt Side and other nearby villages, followed still by a military force of gruff and grumpy dwarves from Svartalfheim bringing with them a vast and diverse array of weapons to share.

They set up their semi-permanent camps outside the gates of the city - though many of them can be frequently found inside of the city too, and for the most part these new allies seem ready to learn about and contribute to whatever resources Asgard and its Travelers have already. Everyone in the camp seems to be prepared to stay there until the war for Yggdrasil is over, and especially so now: it's anyone's guess how Surt will react with Thiazi now permanently out of play.

    DAY 547 (Nov 28-29)
On the morning of Day 547, every character with a bracelet will receive an invite from Freyr to come the courtyard of the castle at nightfall. The ice will be completely cleared from it, and a few magically tended bonfires will provide a gentle, radiating heat that keeps most of the area comfortably warm. As some of the castle's maids pass out snacks and hot cocoa in warm mugs, he will give a short speech to and then makes a small request of those who arrive.

[He might have spurged a little. Well okay, a lot. With food being scarce, Souji had found just enough ingredients to make some croquettes for everyone (with perhaps the intention of letting Kanji help, if he was so inclined, still remembering the story he had heard about that in Inaba). But that was just a small bag, barely an issue. Everything else, on the other hand, were supplies from the craft stores that he thought might be interesting. A few oven mitts for puppets, entire balls of yarn, origami paper, tissues, scissors, drawing pencils, ribbons...well at the very least they could probably open up something for younger children after this.]

    Hey, I'm back. Hello everyone.

[How he managed to have so many things in his hands without it falling over was a mystery in itself. Maybe it was just the power of friendship.]

    [OPEN]
[Keeping a child inside a building, even during times of war, was a very terrible idea. After all, there were the wild springtime spirit of youth that needed to be spent, parks to visit, and games to play outside. Souji had a good idea of places he knew Kanji would like, and part of his mission was to give him memories he could treasure. Even if they couldn't rewrite his past, he was going to make damn sure that he'd look back fondly on these.

So after they got him hyped enough, the entire investigation team began to take him on a tour around the city. Others passing by might spot them as a small group, with Kanji wrapped around Souji's back. After all that training, he had gotten stronger and his friend was currently very light right now. Besides, what kid didn't love piggyback rides?

    No kids, that's what.]

    When: Days 461-462 ( June 9-12 )
    Where: the castle courtyard
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

    Day 461 ( June 9/10 )
When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.

Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.

The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition.

    Day 462 ( June 11/12 )
The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.

At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

Yggdrasil's collapse is reaching a fever pitch and bringing the decay right into the heart of Asgard. Those that remain in the Holy City for this month will struggle with disappearances, memory loss, memory gain, and other various horrible things. Every week will introduce a new feature for you guys to play with, and by the last week, all four will be occurring at random in one major clusterfuck centering around the idea of collapse.

    Week Three: Days 446-449 / May 11-17
      Day 446 ( May 10/11 )
By this day, the memory loss will begin to worsen and start affecting canon memories as well. Your character may remember seeing their castmate in Asgard, but may not recall knowing them from home. They might lose memories of their childhood, or forget why it is they wanted to get back there. What exactly they forget is entirely up to you, but the recollection of their canon will become hazy if not outright blank.

This memory loss is not permanent and can return at random, either immediately or gradually, at any point throughout the month.

Starting during the past week, ghosts began appearing throughout Asgard's streets. The Travellers that have died during the opt-out event will return to Asgard as spectres that cannot speak, touch, or otherwise influence anything around them. Their spirits will be trapped between this world and the next; the living Travellers in Asgard will be able to see them, but they will not be able to hear anything the ghosts might say. Any Travellers inside Asgard that die will join them on the other side of the veil to be trapped there for the time being. These ghosts will continue to appear throughout the month as more of their company fall in Ginnungagap.

      Week Four: Days 450-452 / May 18-23
      • Day 450 ( May 18/19 ): Travellers begin having terrifying and painful nightmares whenever they fall asleep. These dreams are short-lived, easy to wake from, and immediately forgotten upon waking.
      • The volunteer opportunity for new characters takes place during this week. Sign-ups are by email and must be received by May 17.

THE LOG FOR WEEKS 1&2 IS LOCATED HERE.

[ OOC NOTES: This is the mingle log for the WEEKS THREE AND FOUR of the Something Ominous plot event! Remember that your character will be part of this event unless they signed up for the opt-out event by the deadline. Please put your character's location in the title, as well as either OPEN or CLOSED. The event fast facts are listed above, but for more details, please head on over to the full rundown HERE. If you have any questions, please let us know, and have fun! The link to the Weeks Three & Four Something Significant log can be found HERE.

SPECIAL NOTE: As of the power expansion plot, bracelets will work outside of the city along with god powers. Characters WILL be able to communicate with those outside of the city of Asgard, as long as the party has his or her bracelet on him. ]

Through the combined effort of the gods and the support from the Travellers, Asgard has relatively managed to function as normal for a prolonged stretch of time. Even still, it is not enough to substitute the Allfather's might under the duress of Yggdrasil's collapse. The lingering threat of Ragnarok is coming nearer, and all worlds beneath the Mother are beginning to feel its teeth baring down. What this means for the Travellers of those worlds may yet spell disaster.

    Week One: Day 441-442 / May 1-3
      Day 441 ( May 1 )
Late at night, at an otherwise inconspicuous hour ( think more like 10:42PM than the 3AM witching hour ), every Traveller across Asgard will simultaneously feel a flicker in their bodies, like a missed heartbeat or a cut-off breath. Those in Freyr house that were present for the god's death and those that were present for the Friendly Fire event will recognise the sensation; it will happen twice more before one final blip. In that moment, everyone will essentially have a minor blackout: their vision will fade, their bodies will freeze, and there will be an internal sensation of dropping.

This is the start of Hell Month. Yay!

Beginning immediately after the disconnection, Travellers will randomly begin disappearing from the city. It can last for a matter of seconds to a matter of days; during that time, their bracelets will be inoperable and their name will not be listed on the network in the same way they would be for a dropped character. This can happen at any moment for any stretch of time, but pay mind that they will be completely gone from the city.

    Week Two: Days 443-445 / May 4-9
      Day 443 ( May 4/5 )
Not but two days later, as the disappearances continue, the Travellers that have vanished will begin to be forgotten by those remaining in the city. It'll be foggy at first, like a distant memory of your childhood rather than having breakfast just the other day, until the missing Traveller's presence in the city has been entirely forgotten. How long this process takes is entirely up to you! It can be immediate, or it can worsen over a matter of days, whatever you'd like.

Characters don't have to be forgotten by all of their CR; the memory loss will affect characters randomly at your leisure, and it will not be permanent! The return of the missing character will bring the memories back into clarity, though whether it happens immediately or gradually over time is up to you.

For now, this only affects in-game memories, and it is not restricted to only the characters that have vanished. Travellers can begin to forget their time in the city, whether it be specific events or menial everyday occurrences. All in-game memories are subject to be forgotten!

Starting during this week, ghosts will also begin appearing throughout Asgard's streets.

    Who: Jack and Hibiki
    What: Event aftermath.
    When: Backdated to 404
    Where: Hibiki's place
Rating: Err... PG13 for mentions of violence and death?

[Even after watching Baldr's post, Jack is not ready to go back yet. Too much has happened, too many people have been hurt, and he still doesn't trust his powers. At least the marbles stop hitting him, allowing him to sleep that night, still on top of a tree. It wouldn't be the first time he would use nature as his bed anyway, he just needs to take some extra precautions not to fall. His body is weak and needs some more support than a branch, his usual equilibrium isn't working well this time.

The next morning, he's still sore and bruised, but at least he's recovered some energy. There are too many thoughts on his mind, but there's one stronger than the others: Hibiki. The kid has killed. Not her fault, of course, but nobody will be able to take that awful experience from her.

A child has killed for this stupid war.

All the anger he felt the previous day attempts to come back, but Jack is too sore and worried to rage right now. He needs a healer, and soon. ...and Hibiki is one. Hmmh. Jack's initial plan was to avoid being seen by the kids in this state, but maybe... maybe he can use this to show the girl that her powers are still good, that she can be helpful. To give her some hope.

Decision made, he makes his way to Hibiki's home, slower than usual because of his pain. At least his hand doesn't fail him when he has to knock.]

Hibiki, kiddo? You still in there?

    Who: EVERYONE still in Asgard
What: The Friendly Fire mingle log!
    When: Days 402-403 (Feb. 11-14)
    Where: Asgard city proper.
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

A more in-depth explanation of the event can be found at the link above, with some examples of how powers might backfire! As Yggdrasil's core starts to rot and fester, the immortal beings that reflect her essence are feeling the effects ripple throughout them. This anomaly cripples the gods with the feeling of being wrenched out of their bodies, as though a schism is being driven through their physical being and their souls. The Travelerss tied to these souls will feel the schism manifest in their God Powers going haywire.

    Day 402 (Feb 11-12)
A cacophony of screams tears through the city sometime before noon, seeming to originate from somewhere in Asgard's center. The force of the screams manifests physically, rattling through the streets like a gust of wind. The Travelers feel a brief flickering when their connections to their patron deities pauses.

When the connections are re-established just a few seconds later, there may be the unshakable feeling of something being off, even if that feeling is impossible to pinpoint. Immediately following this, all God Powers will be in a state of utter chaos; they will promptly begin to backfire - and badly - in countless and unpredictable ways.

Note: Virtually anything you can think of where their abilities work against them is free game. Powers can activate unintentionally, they can misfire and hit another person or the user themselves. It's free-game. If you aren't certain of whether or not your mishap is plausible, feel free to run it by us in the comments section below!

Also, if you would prefer your character not use their powers at all, this is also okay! But their powers will be corrupted if they are to use them, and they will still have that feeling of being wrong even if they don't.

    Day 403 (Feb 13-14)
These power corruptions will continue all throughout the day until around nightfall, when Baldr will have had enough of the torment and will seek to do something about it. He can be seen seemingly floating above the castle as he stands on the invisible barrier and focuses his energy on the broken ties of magic between the gods and their Travellers.

For a solid minute, golden lines of dust that float on the air will be visible criss-crossing, tangling, and otherwise fraying all throughout the city. At the end of the minute, Baldr will give one shout of exertion and every line will abruptly pull taut; the Travellers will feel a tug at their cores, and that feeling of off will vanish. Their powers will return to regular function and Baldr will collapse for some serious R&R inside the castle. What exactly happened and how is uncertain, but as it's the second time to take place, it's about time to start worrying.

    Who: Everyone going to Alfheim
What: The mingle log for A Friend In Need
    When: Days 387-390 ( Jan. 12-19 )
Where: Asgard, Alfheim, and the train ride inbetween
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

    Day 387 ( Jan. 12/13 )
Before boarding the train around dawn, the leaders of the separate groups should run checks on everyone that's signed up. Natives will help dish out a simple weapon to those without their own that want one, medical supplies to the healers and a simple kit for everyone else, and a simple mask with strict instructions to put them on as soon as the kingdom is within sight. After everyone is geared up and boarded, Odin's spies will set out on horseback first, masks already in place, to clear the path ahead. This gives you a five hour train ride to go over strategies and coordinate with your fellow Travellers and the Asgard natives that have joined the ranks.

As the train crosses the halfway mark between Asgard and Alfheim, the dark black clouds of smoke and ash will sprawl across the horizon and thicken the air, prompting early placement of the gas masks as a precautionary measure. It's a short trip from there, and once the train has stopped, it's time to get to work. The homes and buildings of Alfheim will be in varying states of disarray and ruin, some still burning as the inhabitants and neighbours struggle to douse the flames. Others will be smouldering, successfully saved or otherwise left to burn itself out in the days since the initial attack. There will still be Fire Giants sparsely wreaking havoc amongst the living quarters, but the vast majority of the fighting will have been drawn into the treeline by the Elves to give room for relief efforts and any evacuation attempts. Homes and larger buildings still largely intact will have been turned into temporary hospital rooms or safe houses for the young and incapable of fighting, with the injured laid out anywhere there is room; the dead will be wrapped in sodden sheets in the alleys between buildings until they can be properly buried - if ever they should find the opportunity.

This leaves the Travellers to split up and jump head first into their tasks. The Elves will be pleasantly surprised and immensely grateful for the arrival of aid, but they will not spare much time to gratitude when the battle wages and every second counts. Those fighting will immediately accept the Travellers into their defence, and from there, they will begin to push back against the Giants' forces. At this point, it will be largely defensive combat, an attempt to keep the Giants from moving further into the kingdom and setting more to flames. Surt himself will be present in this, and a vast majority of those that try to stand against him will be met with a heavy hand. Move carefully, Travellers, for there is still fight left in these desperate Giants.

    Day 388/389 ( Jan. 14-17 )
By early morning, just as the Sun is beginning to rise, the Travellers will receive some support from their patron deities back in Asgard. For the next two days, they will have their House Powers to give them that extra edge on the battlefield. Another surprise will arrive as well, as the trees themselves seem to move through the battlefield to push back the Giants. The Treepeople will have arrived, many of whom direct their efforts towards the support group to help control the flames while others exact their grief and anger on the enemy forces that still linger around. These beings are the oldest in Yggdrasil, second only to the immortals, and strongly resemble their respective forests, but they are strong and firmly rooted in the Mother's survival.

They will fight alongside the Travellers until they are cut down or the battle is won, which it seems it will be when the flames begin to significantly dwindle nearing sunrise on Day 389. From that point onward, those fighting for Alfheim will rise to the offence and the Giants will begin to fall back as their numbers lessen and their advantage wanes. They will begin fleeing the kingdom, leaving Surt with only his loyalists at his side - and against the might of the Travellers and the Elves emboldened by their allies' support, they few will not be enough to claim the entire kingdom.

    Day 390 ( Jan. 18-19 )
The Travellers' House Powers will fade before sunrise, but between the combined strengths of them, the Elves, and the Treepeople, they will still quickly overpower Surt's remaining forces and send them scurrying back to their ruined kingdom of Muspellheim. Surt will leave weary and more furious than ever at his failure, but he knows too that to stand alone would be his downfall. The battle is won, but the damage has been great and there is little time for celebration. The Travellers will be given the most sincere gratitude from the people of Alfheim, and sent back home with packs of food and supplies to patch themselves up before they arrive back in Asgard as the loyal and true allies to Yggdrasil and her children.
