[OPEN] forward dated!
Who: Vanitas (
showmeanguish) and OPEN.
What: Almost fully recovered from The Sickness, Vanitas decides to pick up some things for his new room. But he... gets a little sidetracked.
When: All through day 152.
Where: Baldr district.
Rating: Shouldn't go higher than G, unless there's talk of sickness/death.
[At 11am, Vanitas has acquired exactly (1) bag of warm clothes, as well as a bargain bed (mattress included) and side table that's being delivered to the Mushroom house for a small extra fee. All for a little over two gold runes.
That morning, he'd woken up and realized that the temperature was getting brisker, and the leaves a little darker in color. Fall was coming, and he'd be needing some warmer clothes, since everything he'd had had gone up in the conflagration he'd set almost two weeks ago. He'd replaced a little of it, but not enough to carry him through the winter, which was the purpose of his shopping trip. Alone, this time--and what d'you know, he'd gotten everything done he'd wanted to and at half the time of the last trip.
On the way back, though, he'd taken a different route to make his journey a little more interesting. Along the way, had passed the petting zoo at the edge of the park. And slowed to a stop, when he'd gotten only a few yards ahead of it. Turning back, he gazed at the entrance for a few moments, apparently lost in thought. Though things had returned to normal again, there were a few things still weighing heavily on his mind. Not just from his spider's death, still, but he'd...
He'd almost killed Euri, during the plague. And if he'd succeeded, it would've been for nothing--the immunization had worked, and she'd recovered quickly. It'd been rash; he'd just panicked and hadn't known what to do. But more than that, he hadn't known what a friend would do, and it'd been a very hard lesson for him to learn.
So maybe... he just needed more experience.]
---
[At approximately noon, Vanitas has acquired (1) bag of clothes, a bed and side table set that's being delivered later--
And an old, lady goat with one milky eye, from the owner of the petting zoo. Who seems to have other ideas about making the rest of the trek across the park to home.]
C'mon, just move your legs. [Pull pull on the tether keeping her tied to his arm, but the goat just takes a few steps and stops again, head tossing and tongue mocking him from between it's teeth. She doesn't appear to be thrilled with the journey, and instead when they pause again, decides to take a few bites of grass.]
---
[Later, much later, the goat is tethered to a tree at Mushroom house's back, far enough away that she can't disturb any of the herb garden. But she looks much more placid to be laying under the shade than being pulled across the park, just staring off into space while chewing on some grass.
Vanitas is nowhere to be seen, but he returns shortly, after making another trip to Thor district for some fencing and building supplies. It arrives in a cart, which he hops off the back of, and helps stack it all close to the tree before paying the driver. Then, he gets to work. Exerting himself this much when he's recovering from being so ill is probably a bad idea, but Vanitas has an idea in his mind and he's determined. And when he's determined, there's little that can be done to deter him.
So he sets to building. The back of the house is soon bombarded with the sound of hammering and sawing, as the shape of a pen and little house takes shape.]
[ooc: open to anyone, and you can choose any point in the narrative you want to throw your character in at!]

The Park - Around Noon
She swallowed with a bit of difficulty and cocked her head, watching Vanitas struggle vainly with the goat. She thought that she might have recognized him, though in truth she and Vanitas had only ever spoken on the network. At best, they really barely knew each other. Still, this was funny enough to get a reaction and a barked laugh.
"Having trouble?"
no subject
"No, I do this for fun all the time. It's great."

So no tin cans, thank you very much. Besides, she seems perfectly content with eating the grass, though when his attention's diverted, he also feels a slight tug on the hem of his shirt. Blinking, he glances down only to find her feeling it up with her upper lip, and trying to get a hold on it with her teeth. So with a slight grunt, he pulls it away and takes a couple steps forward. If she wants it, she'll have to follow.
"My goal's to get her home, and that's across the park. So unless you've got some secret, goat-handling wisdom besides tin cans, then mind your own business."
no subject
Across the park? That got an eyebrow raised. "Don't tell me you live in smurf central. I hear they've got decent apartments in this district, after all."
no subject
"Decent enough. Doesn't beat having a whole floor to myself and cheap rent ontop of it, though."
no subject
...
"Have we met before?"
no subject
Her other question though, gets a slightly less neutral expression. Something that almost looks like a smile, though it's not terribly friendly. "We've talked once or twice."

Which he says, a little defensively. Suspicious. "And Kaz thinks everything's his turf. His concept of ownership's about as developed as a two-year-old's."

stupid freaking... sorry bout that
No point belaboring the other. If they'd talked, she'd probably brought it up already.
no problem! it happens o7
Which he still didn't get, but he'd heard of and seen stranger things. One of those being... why she kept making a face at whatever it was she was drinking.
"What's in the cup?"
no subject
This was something she wasn't going to spread around too much. Until she was certain it actually worked, she didn't feel like getting peoples' hopes up. There were a few who might get foolish, including herself.
no subject

That, at least, was partially true.

And it's here that the goat tries to start eating his shirt again, so enjoy his little dance to keep it's teeth away from him. At least he gets her to move a few more feet, though.
no subject
And that little dance was, at the very least, amusing enough to serve as a distraction of sorts.
