EVENT LOG: LOOK! A DISTRACTION! OVERFLOW
Who: EVERYONE
What: Look! A Distraction! Festival log overflow. The original log can be found here and part two of the event can be found here.
When: Days 338-341 (Oct. 8-15)
Where: The castle courtyard.
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!
[ All barriers are coming down for this five-day event: both the ones between the gods and their Travelers and between the city and its center. The castle courtyard is open to any and all for the next five days. NPC booths with games, snacks, and trinkets fill the space both along and around the entrance with plenty of room to spare for anything the Travelers might want to set up for themselves. Music and food fill the air at a constant, with firepits and decorative torches burning at night to light up the courtyard in an earthy glow and keep everyone warm. There will be plenty of food and entertainment, and the party will last throughout the night each night.
The theme of the festivities will change with every day:
The event guide for various events throughout the festival can be found here. Please include your location and the IC day (ex. Day 338 - this can be found in the schedule) in your top-level comment or your subject line when starting a thread! If you want to request a certain god, feel free to ping them and we will do what we can. Otherwise, have fun, and as always - let us know if there's anything you need! ]

The log for the fifth day masquerade can be found here!
- Day 338 (Oct. 8/9)
- It's time for a costume party! Travelers will be encouraged by the natives and gods alike to wear costumes both silly and serious! Anyone needing assistance simply need to say the word, and they will be descended upon by enthusiastic natives ready to help and desperate to put the tragedy of Thiazi's attack behind them.
- Day 339 (Oct. 10/11)
- Familiar scents will waft in the air with the theme of the second day: Home away from Home! The visiting god Honir has made a push to organize food and music straight from the Travelers' worlds, and it will all seem absolutely and utterly authentic. The natives will be cooking and playing music throughout the festival, and will be encouraging Travelers to to teach others about their own world/time's clothing and culture.
- Day 340 (Oct. 12/13)
- This day is going to follow something of a Samhain celebration. Merlin, with the permission and help from the gods, planted the seed of an oak tree in the centre of the courtyard. By this day, it will have grown as large as though it's been there for a hundred years. Travellers will be welcomed to tie ribbons or letters to the tree for their departed loved ones and friends, whether they've passed on or simply left the city, in remembrance and a final farewell.
However, being far too curious about to whom they're writing, Honir will be going through all of the ribbons and letters when no one's looking. Moved by their losses, he'll be bugging Mimir into helping him perform a spell that will bring a sort of comfort to everyone. Characters can receive up to a maximum of three photographs of themselves with whomever their ribbon is for, regardless of whether or not they ever took a picture with that person or even had the technology to do so. All of these photographs will be candid shots of happy memories that will be waiting for them on the Travelers' pillows.
(We aren't doing approvals for these so please, limit yourselves to only three photographs!)- Day 341 (Oct. 14/15)
- This day will introduce a festival game with the gods! As you go around to the various booths and attractions throughout the festival, NPCs will be handing out small treats to anyone they see wearing the colors of their patron god - whether you wore the colour intentionally or not!
The gods themselves will also be hosting another game of sorts: each of Asgard's patrons and allies will have a riddle or trivia question for any Travelers that approach them. Answer these correctly and they will tie a token of their favor (a ribbon in their colour or crest) around your upper arm. These ribbons can be cashed in for prizes at any time during the rest of the festival! (More details can be found under Day 341 here and all NPC threads are linked individually here).
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! The mods rolled for our monthly Holes feature, and this month has brought in the plague of plenty from the Assassin's Creed universe! As you make your way to the castle on Day 341, your characters will notice that the streets are suddenly jam-packed with hundreds of new citizens all seemingly manifested from nowhere. There will be beggars and orphans, your average peasants and guards, as well as obnxiously cheerful minstrels that might sing a song or two about you as they crowd your path through the city. These new citizens can be found virtually anywhere, so feel free to play with their arrival in your threads!

ORIGINAL LOG
Petra Ral-Day 341, visiting booths
"Want some?"
no subject
When he makes his way over to her, he already has a child on his hip in his arm and another holding his other hand. He was searching for their parents ( in vain, because that's what orphan means, Honir ) but they got excited at the sight of treats and who can blame them?
"I think these ones might!" His smile is warm and he crouches down nearby to release them both and nudge them in Petra's direction with a gentle "go on, don't be scared."

"You really are being kind, with how happy you made them there should be color everywhere in a snap!"

"Actually, I wasn't really thinking about that...I just wanted them to be happy."

DAY 340, 341 | Selina Kyle
After hers is tied on, she wanders around the tree, snooping into the ribbons others have tied on.
When she goes home and when she gets her pictures, there's a moment of nostalgia, there are tears. And then she dresses and leaves...]
DAY 341
[...and is still in just the sort of mood to cause mayhem when she sees how crowded things are. The first person who sings about her gets the strings of his instrument cut by her claws. The first person she sees robbing, mugging, or acting out, just might get a face full of spiked heels.]
341
[ Jade has a few ribbons tied around her wrist and is halfway through eating a large fluff of orange cotton candy when she witnesses Selina slice through the instrument's strings, and she's laughing out loud before she can help it. ]
You don't mess around at all, do you?

I don't stand for flattery, especially in song-form. It seems he would only take a hint if I beat him with it.

Tessa Gray | Day 341 | Wandering
But there is much to see and so many hours in the day, so Tessa is idly walking around, eyes settling on details here and there, but she doesn't stop to stare or talk to people. It is a weird world, filled with even weirder people, and she's not quite sure that mingling too much might be a good idea just yet. ]

Afternoon, milady! I hope that the festivities have all been well to your liking so far.
no subject
[ Well, at least he gives a vibe of being from even more remote times than her...which might be good or bad, she can't tell just yet. ]
They have, I think. Although I would honestly not know the difference between festive days and regular ones just yet.
Have they been to your liking, sir?

Luke Castellan, Day 340
Today, however, he was making himself look fairly innocent and approachable. He can be seen sitting near the oak tree that others are frequenting. He's not entirely sure what the deal is about people hanging up names and writing letters, but he's just sitting back and people-watching, listening to their thoughts. Should anyone approach him though he'll be willing to get up and wander around.]
no subject
[ When she's done, she spots him lurking around and waves, a little awkwardly; it's still weird that he's here. She still can't quite bring herself to believe it. But even so, she promised him a story. And part of her does want to tell it -- she still remembers a time when he was the only person she could go to for advice. ]
Sleeping?
no subject
Not quite. I don't even know if I need to sleep anymore.

Uzumaki Naruto :: Day 340
There are some things he can tolerate. Not having any parents, being a jinchuuriki growing up on his own, being despised by an entire village, almost losing it to a nine tailed demon, and a countless number of other things that totally suck.
But there is nothing worse for Naruto than the memory of what he'd done to his friends. Even killing Karui is something he regrets deeply, but it's done. He'd managed to hold it in for the best part, keep calm, smiling, happy...
But there's no turning back from it, and whereas Gaara tells him he isn't to blame, the one person that really counts is reminding him constantly of his mistake.
Years of promising to protect Sasuke, bring him back to the village and make sure no harm comes to him seem worthless now, which is why he's sat quite some distance from the tree so many people have gathered around. The floor felt like a good place to be, where he could, and does reach down occasionally to tug blades of grass from beside him.]
no subject
[Said by an acrid, sulfur-smelling girl walking up behind Naruto. She's finished talking to Snape and looking at the tree again. Naruto would have had the chance to see her put several ribbons on the tree. One more was clutched in her hand, one she had decided to finally put up, just because it seemed best.]
no subject
Sam gets a frown when he finally turns to look up at her, but it fades quick enough - into that same forlorn look.]
Yeah, I know.

day 340/341
[ this was a stupid idea. what was the point in him writing a letter or tying a ribbon to a tree for anyone who'd died or been left behind? sure, it made sense for most people. nico was actually pretty interested in the different festivals and ways people treated death in all sorts of cultures. but as interesting as it was it was still stupid for him to participate. all nico had to do was go visit them-
well, he couldn't do that anymore, could he? not here anyway. and even back home, he'd never been able to meet his mother and bianca had moved on... he couldn't even talk to hazel anymore, and she was alive again. so as dumb as nico thinks it is for him to participate, today he can be found trying to very sneakily tie some ribbons to the tree. ]
day 341
Stop following me! Go bother someone else. [ nico has HAD ENOUGH!! minstrels everywhere. this was why nico tried to avoid crowded areas (yes. for minstrels specifically) but he'd been getting a bit bored in his room and tried to take a look around... only to be met by a rather cheerful fellow following him around, singing about how his hair looked like little bat wings. he's about to lose it when he spots a hiding spot. clenching his teeth, he turns around and points behind the minstrel. ]
Look at all that money- [ no sooner does he finish than the minstrel looks away and nico dodges behind a building, trying his best to become invisible. it doesn't work, but hopefully the minstrel passes by and hopefully he hasn't startled too many people with his sudden appearance on this side. ]
voldemort & mitsuru, throughout the festival, day 341
Mitsuru Kirijo, I presume?
sorry for the wait!
She feels like she's going out on a limb when he asks for her name.]
You're correct. Then you must be Lord Voldemort.
no worries
[He smiles in greeting upon her recognition.]
Are you ready to depart?

for belle!
I've seen a little bit of it. [ It's answered with a curious little turn to her words, as if she's sort of considering her own answer. ] But the battles usually come in bursts. It's really not that bad when we work together... and there are always people willing to work together.
♥
[It is war. She knows it can't remain this peaceful forever.]

SOUSHI AND PYRO -- D340; Samhain Celebration
A light pat will be given to Pyro's shoulder as he continues to offer his friend a genuine smile. He was proud of him. Pyro has grown. There was still a long way to go, but he knew he will reach his true potential with time.]
I know. [After all.] You are a capable and thoughtful person, Pyro-san. I know you will do everything in your power to protect her. You will accomplish it. [If there was a chance he couldn't, then...] You have my full support. I am at your beck and call. Whatever you need, I will do my utmost to accomplish it. [After all, they are comrade now, right?]

I know, man. If shit hits the fan here again and Euri's stuck in the city without me, I'll be counting on you.
