between the arms of Gelion was the ward of Maglor, and here in one place the hills failed altogether
Who: Maglor, OTA
What: training, sparring, the usual~
When: This month!
Where: the Citadel
Rating: G for now~
As he is every morning, Maglor is up at the citadel - he has his own classes to teach, but more than that, he is retraining himself as well, working on trying to get as close to his elven speed as he can, relearning old skills half forgotten in the wear of wandering though two relatively peaceful Ages of the world. Care to join him?
[ ooc: consider this a catchall post for anyone who wants to do Military shenannigans this month, or you can use this to ping Mags if you need him for anything ]

Maribelle had been looking for a place to get an axe. As trustworthy as she counted her parasol, it would really do no good against any proper life-threatening situation (and honestly, the scores of bandits she'd dispatched with it didn't exactly count as life-threatening, in her considered opinion). She'd been thinking of getting an axe, but honestly, right now, she had neither the currency to buy one, nor the slightest idea of where she could get one.
She was, essentially, poor in this place. Ugh.
But she did have her parasol, and that would do for now, so she walked into the Citadel, intent on getting some training done.
[Scenario 2: Open]
She'd finished her training - at least for the moment - and she'd actually managed to avoid getting terribly disheveled. Well, she may be an essential pauper, in this place, but at least she'd maintained the poise that was proper for her station. She sat down presently, taking care to appear the epitome of grace (when really, it was tempting to sprawl over, the way Lissa did - but goodness, she wasn't about to let that happen).
Now was a time for a glass of water, or perhaps a nice cup of tea - but, lacking those, she could wait, for now.

"Are you here for training, milady or are you looking to find someone?"
He's still a little breathless with exertion from his own training, eyes bright and perhaps a little feral. He moves like one long accustomed to war.

"I am here for training. A lady must hone all her skills properly, mustn't she?" And believe it or not, Maribelle was a capable enough fighter. True, she wasn't exactly suited for the front lines, what with her delicate frame that was all too frail in close quarters, but she was brave and dedicated, and her talent for resisting magic was certainly nothing to sneeze at. She could only hope she'd kept that skill here, even if she could no longer cast.

"Have you a weapon ready Lady Maribelle, or were you thinking of using those from the store here?"
no subject
"For now, I have my parasol." And she could be surprisingly deadly with it, when need be.

He shrugs. "I am out of practice, alas - but if you preferred I could see my way to making you a suitable blade as well. It was never my particular skill, however."
no subject
"How lovely, and how generous of you to offer. I shall think gratefully upon it." She couldn't dream of imposing further - at least, not right now.

She examines the rapier, looking it over carefully. "Why, that will do nicely. Thank you."
no subject
"Well, in that case, would you like a spar then, to see how you do with the rapier?"
no subject
She smiles at the offer, and nods. "I gladly accept, sir. However, I'm wholly unfamiliar with a rapier. Would you mind helping me to use it?" She is a fast learner, true, but hardly an immediate one.
no subject
"Certainly milady." He smiles back and nods. "Tis not a weapon I am terribly familiar with, I fear, but I mind not offering what aid I can."

"Aye then - so! You already know how to hold it, I see, which is good, and you move like one who knows how to fight. The rapier, as you can guess, is more a weapon for piercing than cutting, and it is thin enough that blocking with the blade is ill-advised - it is too thin, particularly if your opponent prefers heavier weapons. But." He reaches out and shows her how she might stop his longsword. "It is, they say, mostly a matter of leverage - if you use the hilt as well..."
"I think I will not bore you however, shall we see what you can do with it?"
So saying he drops to a ready position, his practice blade at the ready.

And then she takes her own position, holding the blade much like she does her parasol. This will take some getting used to.
Warning: mun can't write fight scenes to save her life
He smiles at her. "Ready?" And he'll lunge for her, cat-swift with his practice blade if she agrees
Same. XD
And she manages to dodge, swinging the blade a bit clumsier than she would like to.
lol ohgood

"Well done! Again."
Seeing as she has a good basic training to fall back on, Maglor ups his own game, moving faster, leaving less openings for her.

"Careful now - you over-reached yourself that time - you do well trying to come in in my blind spot, but have a care to yours!"
It is almost a dance - Maribelle is good, allowing Maglor to push himself as he does for few here.

"Well done, Lady Maribelle! But I think that is enough for today eh?"
no subject
She would have to acquire one of her own, if she could manage it. "Thank you for your help."
