- Day 499 ( Aug. 20/21 )
- Under Freya and the Emergency Response Team's guidance, the gods will be hosting a pre-announced emergency drill today. The Travellers will receive a heads-up via a short ping on their bracelets to be prepared for it at any given moment, and that chosen moment will come just after noon with the SOS alarm sounding off throughout the city. The City Patrol should assist in guiding everyone to their respective safe houses while the Medics grab their gear and check over every citizen to take the designated "Injured" to stations that should be set up and prepared for use in the safe zones. The Engineers will be told to employ any new defences and/or lock-down mechanisms they've devised to help keep the enemy at bay.
The drill will conclude after two hours, once everything has been relatively sorted and documented. This event won't end there, though!
Intrigued by the sudden blaring of alarms, a horde of strange looking animals will slowly trickle into the city through the Gate of Fire. They're a new species that have grown from the wreckage of the flood and, being that they are still in the infancy of their evolution, they will be docile and overall friendly upon finding the residents of Asgard as the source of the alarm. This means that they'll be very easy to shoo out of buildings when they curiously walk through open doors, and they'll take to following anyone they find particularly interesting, which means they can be made very easily into pets. They're here to stay, at least for now, so make nice with your new friends!

OTA
The sound on her bracelet alerted to her drill, and so she gathered her supplies and began to head out in order to look over the "injured".
[Scenario 2: after the drill] And... now there were strangely adorable little... rabbit-things hopping about. They were quite curious, it seemed, and one had taken to Maribelle in particular, sniffing curiously at her boot and following her around.
"Oh, my," she mused, looking at the creature. "What an interesting development. Come here, now, little one."
During the drill
"I was told to report here as injured or dead."
Despite that the only injury to her were a few small scrapes on her hands where she had fallen backwards in surprise when the other caught her.

Because really, Yuiko looked as if she were about to cry - and don't think that Maribelle hadn't noticed those scrapes. "Give me your hands, Yuiko," she said, not unkindly, and held out her own so that she could have a look at them. Well, at least she had her supplies with her, and she could use the practice.

"I went to get today's rations when the siren went off, but before I could get back to the safe house there was a really big black snack. It came at me and hissed before telling me to report here."
But she had fallen backwards, and it was really scary, and now her rations were all crumpled up, and she failed the test. She had told Ritsuka she's try to be stronger and not cry anymore but there were still tears in the corners of her eyes.

"There, there," she soothed, looking at Yuiko's tearful face in consternation and fishing out a handkerchief from her pocket, offering it to the girl, "I'm sure you'll do much better next time." It was difficult enough for Maribelle to become accustomed to this, and she was... well herself, of course. How hard must it be for a child to go through this, especially one who had clearly never seen war in her life?

Though the crumbled box on the table where Yuiko had set it had certainly seen better days, everything was probably still editable. The sting from the disinfectant took her mind off of it a little though as her pulled back just a bit instinctively.
"I really want to show that I knew what to do, and I was on my way to where I was supposed to be."
She had just gotten caught between point A and point B through no fault of her own, though it certain felt like it was her fault with the way that she had been hissed at and told to report. Accepting the handkerchief Yuiko wiped the corners of her eyes.
"Thank you. You decided to be a part of the medical team though? Is it hard?"
no subject
"Don't worry, darling," she said, not so much as acknowledging the traded boxes now that it was over, "I'm certain you did admirably. After all, you are here, are you not?" With that, she began dabbing ointment onto Yuiko's hands. "And yes, I have. I am a medic of sorts back home, and I thought it best to stick with something I had more than a passing familiarity with."
no subject
Well Maribelle had gotten them swapped and Yuiko's box put away before she could really protest much, which made her feel kind of bad for dropping it now since she was pretty sure that something had to be smushed in all that.
"I made sure to know where they were, someone said that sometimes the medics get tired and since I have energy transfer I thought I could always give them some of my energy."
She usually had more than enough energy anyways, and being as excitable as she was it wasn't like giving some of it to someone that was helping would hurt.
no subject
"Do you? What a useful power." And hopefully one that would keep her well away from the field of battle. "I myself possess Charm. Well, the ability... not that I don't have plenty of charm on my own, of course."
And so modest, too.

Yuiko really only knew where things were to help people get oriented, but she couldn't help with medicine at all, she had know idea how to do anything with engineering, and forget about patrolling or the military.
"Is that helpful when working with people who are hurt?"

"You seem really good at it, you must have had a lot of practice before."

She really didn't want to be dead weight or just get in the way of what everyone was having to do. Though it did seem like the drill was taking a really long time.

Really she hoped that each time would only be a drill and that nothing like the last attack would happen again. Everyone had been really scared and a lot of people had gotten hurt. She hadn't even been able to find Ritsuka until after everything had calmed down afterwards.
"What should I do now though until the drill's over? I was just told to come here."
no subject
"You can always stay with me, dear," she said comfortingly, glancing at the girl. "You're still quite shaken, aren't you?"
no subject
Yuiko tried to dismiss it a little though laughing nervously, "A-a little. Is there anything that I can help with then?"

Because really she wouldn't have a problem doing either, and she had enough duties in the classroom that she would be alright doing either of them. As long as it didn't require remembering to feed fish.

That way if there's anything that they need for the medical stations they could ask for it from the supply group and then in an emergency no one would have to do without something. Yuiko was actually kind of glad to get to help out a little and returned the smile.
