[The morning after Zessica arrived, she found herself waiting on the front porch of Loki's welcome house for her scheduled company to arrive. She had spent a bit of the previous night altering her wardrobe a little. Coupled with a pair denim shorts, it would work for the moment.

Currently seated on the steps, she remembered she had no idea what Euri looked like. Hopefully she'd be easy to spot if they got separated later.]

[Euri's first reaction is to jump, but a split second later she's squealing with glee.

This is the coolest thing ever. It's as if someone is singing into the headphones! Oh god CDs are the best invention ever why don't they exist at home.

As soon as the chorus starts up a second time Euri will be humming the tune, then as soon as she's got the words down singing along.]

[zessica]

[Zessica puts a hand to her mouth to stifle the laugh that escapes her. Don't want to interrupt Euri after all! She can sort of hear the tune herself, so there's a little humming on this end, too.]

[She's going to listen to the song twice because it's nothing like she's ever heard and it's just so catchy. When it ends the second time Euri's looking over at Zessica, completely blown away.]

This is amazing!

[zessica]

It is pretty neat. [The second time, Zessica had been doing some looking of her own, and she'd found another thing the other girl might appreciate.]

Try another. [She holds out another CD to scan. Have some techno pop stuff.]

Okay!

[Aah, the next song! Euri is humming along immediately and once it picks up she's bobbing her head to the beat. It's so catchy!]

[zessica]

[She stands nearby waiting for it to end and Euri to speak once more, and there is a very smug look on her face.]

[In Euri's opinion that smugness is completely warranted. Recorded music is better than slice bread okay.

She'll only listen to this song once, pulling the headphones down when it's finished.]

That one was great too! It was really bouncy!

[zessica]

Hit the right arrow button down there. There are other songs on the CD, probably like that one.

[occulthymns]

- Really?? How many songs are on a CD?

[zessica]

[Zessica glances at the CD in her hand.]

This one has fourteen.

[occulthymns]

- That's so many! [she had been expecting one or two at the most.]

[zessica]

There are things called MP3 players that can carry a lot more.

[occulthymns]

How much?? Do they have one of those here??

[zessica]

It depends on the device, but most can carry at least a thousand songs. As for having them here, I'm not sure.

[occulthymns]

A... a thousand...?

[Her brain is officially broken. She isn't sure she even knows that many songs.]

[zessica]

Or more. [She walks over to stand by Euri again.]

You know, they might sell CD players here. They're definitely cheaper than an MP3 player, and it'd be a good way to start you off.

[occulthymns]

Really?? [She suddenly looks torn - play the second song on the cd, or go hunt down a cd player to buy.]

And I can play all the CDs I want on it?

[zessica]

One at a time, but yes. There's portable ones you can carry with you, or bigger ones with speakers that everyone can hear.

[occulthymns]

I want both! How expensive are they, normally? I've got two jobs and some money saved up --

[zessica]

[Zessica laughs at Euri's enthusiasm.]

Why don't you just get the bigger one for now. I'm pretty sure there are models that you can carry around with speakers. The portable one can wait a little.

[occulthymns]

[She's glancing toward the scanning machine thing, but ultimately takes the headphones off.]

Okay. I'll buy one of those.

[zessica]

And a CD or two to start with! Definitely the one you were just listening to.

[She looks around until she spots something, and walks over to another section of the store.]

[occulthymns]

Mm! That one with the women singer, and that one with the Numa Numa song.

[Euri's following eagerly!]

[zessica]

[And they'll stop in front of a display of CD players. There are a few fun choices for Euri to look at. Zessica waits patiently as she explains.]

These are the ones with speakers. They sit on a shelf or a table and fill the room with music, and can be plugged in or powered by batteries.

[Euri is examining all of them, but she's really drawn to the piano-shaped player.]
