.. Fate? [ It is a little strange of a question, but Ange's good at going along with random conversation turns after all the talk with witches back home. ]

You mean like believing in the fact that everything happens for a reason?

[granter]

Whatever you would define fate as. Do you believe in it?

[entreats]

... In that case, I guess I'd have to say 'in a way'. I think that some things were set up to go a certain way no matter how much you try to change them, yeah.

[granter]

[Yuuko's smile turns knowing, and she nods]

Then, if you call yourself a pessimist, you must believe that your fate, or someone else's, is heading down an unfortunate path. Am I right?

[entreats]

I do. Although to be more specific, I thought it had already ended to an untimely end. [ she doesn't seem to mind saying that very much, even though it's obviously a big deal - maybe she's downplaying it through the way she's saying it. ]

This place lengthened it somehow.

[granter]

[This piques her interest, and just makes the ones that brought them here all the more interesting. For all appearances, she seemed to be alive, and Yuuko had a great eye for such illusions, even without her magic. But that was the impossible. No one could bring back the dead. But the gods here had figured out something close to it, if what she said was true.

Yuuko's smile falls, turning quite serious, since this is something she needs more information on.]

To make sure that I'm understanding, you're saying that you were brought back from death?

[entreats]

[ Something changes about Ange too, but just slightly. For the most part she keeps up the same deadpan attitude, but there's just slightly more of a serious edge to it when she answers. ]

Exactly like that. I died right before I arrived in this place, I'm sure of it. Nobody could have survived that. [ 'that', the cause, is left vague. ]

[granter]

[And that's fine with Yuuko. She has no interest in asking just how someone died. She's hardly someone that wants to pry into something so painful without a reason.]

I see. [It's a simple response, since that troubles her. It's just another thing to add to her list about things to inspect here.] Well, it may not mean much from a stranger, but I am sorry that you died. I hope that you find peace.

[entreats]

When you put it like that you make me sound like I'm some sort of ghost. [ Not that she protests against it exactly, it seems more like some random deadpan remark bordering on a joke. ]

But considering I never got that even from some people I do know, it's still nice to hear at the very least.

[granter]

[The smile becomes very... kind. And though there's still a hint of coldness in her voice, it still sounds very genuine.]

Perhaps not a ghost. But I have seen and dealt with enough ghosts to know the pain that they hold when they are unable to move on and find that peace. But however they managed to pull you here, it is a chance that no one is afforded. I hope that you live this life well.

[entreats]

[ There's surprise in her expression at that. Not exactly because of the words, but because of the fact they're coupled with that smile, and.. it's surprising to see that from a stranger, really, it's not something she often sees. So for a few moments she actually struggles to find words and her composture again. ]

Is.. this the part where I'm supposed to say 'thanks'?

[granter]

Not necessarily. It's the part where you can say whatever you wish.

[But she offers her hand]

Though I suppose this would be as good a time as any for introductions! I'm Yuuko. Ichihara Yuuko.

[entreats]

... I normally don't do handshakes, but.. I guess I'll make an exception this once. [ and so she does reach for the hand for a handshake. ]

My name is Ange, Ange Ushiromiya.

[granter]

[The smile widens, as if she's happy that she's been given the consideration, though she doesn't actually care that much. Her handshake is firm and confident, even with her baby-soft hands that haven't seen a day or hard labor in a long time.]

Then it's an honor and a pleasure Ange-san.

[entreats]

I guess the same goes out to you. [ she's definitely less formal (and seemingly less caring, although that's not entirely true) but nods all the same once they release hands again. ]

And I hope you'll get acquainted with this place like you were trying soon then. For better or worse, considering this isn't exactly a normal place.

[granter]

[She laughs, her cheerful smile now completely genuine]

Ahh, but normal places are rather boring places anyways. This one is much more suited to my tastes than others, so I'll happily take it!

[entreats]

You're the kind of woman who likes excitement? [ ... ] Well, I guess most people do.. but even so, there's a difference between interesting things and downright annoying things.

[granter]

Oh, but even annoying things have their purpose. Many things that you consider annoying at the time turn into great stories later, don't they?

[She gives a small, noncommittal shrug] Though in honesty, I'm just enjoying the change of scenery more than anything. Coming to a new place is always exciting for that reason. It may wear off eventually, or never at all! That's the fun of it.
