She tapped her fork on the plate and scrunched her face a bit. Finally, with a nod, she took a sip from her glass and washed down the last she'd eaten. He had a point, or at least seemed to have one. Why should he be someone else?

"Yeah, I guess so. Just be whoever you're going to be. It's not like they've really given us any directions around here," she said.

"Outside of mind control, I don't know that it's really possible to just change who you are anyway. Reprogramming a brain's not exactly a quick, one-shot deal."

I've seen mind control back in my world. [ If that was mind control or not; Kagerou was weird like that. ] ..sometimes, it don't seem that complicated. [ Thinking about it, it might have something to do with it.. that Heike managed to erase so much of his memories. But that might only be because he killed him somehow. ]

"Seen it too. It's less complicated, the more powerful someone doing it is, and the more they pull crap to cheat it through. If they do it the long, hard way, it's real hard to completely change you," she said, opting not to mention that if successful, the long and hard way tended to be more complete than magical cheats. Those could usually be replaced by other magical cheats.
