[He's wearing the same outfit too, actually: sweater vest, tie, dress shirt and pants, messenger bag. He's smiling, as usual, and actually comes into the room from upstairs, having stopped in to say hello to his partner first. He's carrying a small white cardboard box in his hands, and holds it very steadily and carefully as he enters the room.]

I wasn't sure what you'd like, but I have cookies and muffins!

[Not exactly a formal greeting, but they are friends now, after all!]

{She looks up, surprised, and leaps to her feet in alarm.]

You didn't have to bring anything...! Did you buy those?

Well, yes, but it's no big deal. It's not as if I use the money I get from working for housing or anything.

[He laughs and steps over to set the box down on the nearest table.]

I really only work because I'd go crazy if I didn't.

Still, that's... [She forces herself not to keep objecting and to accept this gift. It's a daily struggle, not rejecting help and kindness from her friends.] ... that's really nice, thanks. I'll pay you back somehow.

Weren't you going to provide the tea? That was our deal.

[He grins as he sets his messenger bag down, settles himself on the floor, his legs crossed.]

I think that's a very fair trade.

[whatagoodgirl]

But the tea doesn't - oh, alright. That's okay for now. [She stands up and heads for the kitchen, calling out over her shoulder.] I'll be right out with the tea!

[He can't help but be a little amused with how reluctantly she gives in.

She really is like him, from a few years ago.

In fact, as he waits for her there, he considers whether he should tell her that, should share that with her. He brings out his notebooks, setting them out before him on the floor, and waits quietly, lost in his thoughts.]

[A reasonable amount of time later, Nakama re-emerges with a large tray all laid out for two people to have tea.]

I made green, I hope that's okay. I figured that was what you'd be used to, too.

[She sets it down, and lays out plates for the treats he brought, then finally sits down on the couch above him.]

I like green. I really wouldn't have minded anything though.

[He's pretty easy-going about things like that. They're little things, not important, and it's not like he feels he's entitled to anything special.]

I tried to organize my notes a little, but I'm afraid they're a little messy.

[As he speaks, he smooths a single bent corner out of a piece of paper that has been torn out of his notebook. The entire remainder of the notebook is impeccably neat, sections marked with colored tabs.]

[She pours some for each of them, handing his down to him, then sets out baked goods on the plates and leaves his at the corner of the table for him. She isn't touching any of her food or drink yet, though - she's more impressed with those notes.]

They look pretty good to me. Neater than my map. I never should've used Japanese along with the language here, it made everything way too crowded.

Aha, I made everything in both languages - and a couple others - but then wrote them all out on separate pages - but I think...

[He frowns a little, shakes his head.]

The problem is that mine is all... too much. I keep wanting to put everything in and not condense anything, so I haven't really been able to make anything useful.

[whatagoodgirl]

So you need summaries. [She starts flipping for them, her eyes finding the Asgard language before the Japanese, which always feels strange to her.] I could do that for you.

Summaries would be amazing. And I think...

[He pauses.]

I need a more civilian point of view? Or perhaps a strategy map and a civilian one? Because I want to be able to show just how to get around, but I keep getting caught up with escape routes and lines-of-sight and such...

That's good, though. If you've got a map like that and I've got my map, we've pretty much got it covered.

[She frowns a bit.] This might take me awhile, though. I've got work and training and everything...

That's fine though, isn't it? It's not as if we're on a specific time limit. I just appreciate the help, and I have all those things to do as well...

[He leans in, almost a little conspiratorially.]

It's nice to have someone to work with on things though, isn't it?

[whatagoodgirl]

[She looks a bit embarrassed.] Actually, it's a bit weird to me. I'm used to working alone... doing everyone's work along with mine, mostly. So when someone asks to help me with something, I don't really know what to do.

[Perking up a little:] This is okay, though. I like helping out where I can.

[teacuptarget]

Well...

[He pauses, trying to think how to address that.]

Maybe if Raikou-san can teach you about self-defense, I can teach you about learning to work together with people? Because I think it's an important skill, just like being independent is.

[whatagoodgirl]

Oh, you don't have -

[She just catches herself, and then shakes her head with a rueful laugh.]

See what I mean? I just don't know how to do it.

That's what practice is for.

[He grins and reaches out, pats at her shoulder gently, this time far less awkward about it.]

We could go over our notes together regularly, if you like?

[whatagoodgirl]

[She blushes again, but this time it's not as startling. Some people just do touch you, and some of them are going to be boys and men. She's getting used to that.]

I'd like that.

[Gau is quite honestly happy about this. She really does remind him quite a bit of himself at that age, and he's pretty fond of her.

Besides, I'm over here all the time anyway!
