There should be light. The sun should have been up hours ago. But it's still dark. And it's getting worse. On top of your usual troubles, tornadoes have started to spawn in the city and throw things asunder, while the Taken, ravens, and poltergeists are still in a frenzy looking for victims.

This isn't some lackadaisy attack- this is meant for an all-out war. And the more people that fall, the easier it will be to take the city. Stand strong, Asgardians, this is your toughest challenge yet.

And if you live to see the end of it, the sun will be your reward for your cunning and survival.]

[It isn't Euri who notices Riku first, it's Dog. The two of them are walking down a street, Euri with her pipe for a weapon and Dog on full alert. Any noise has him freezing, ears rigid, and when he stops Euri stops. Clearly she's depending on him to get through this.

He stops when he hears a suspicious rustling in a nearby alley.]

[darkbreak]

[Canine or human-shaped, it doesn't matter much to him. But the rustling is caused by some ravens that were following Riku in the alleys.

Ravens that have taken off and ahead while Riku is motionless. He's stopped at a corner, half-visible while hiding behind a the corner of a building in front of her and facing the duo. He probably smells off to Dog, and if Euri could squint she could notice the gold in his eyes.]

[Her eyesight isn't quite good enough to catch that, but she recognizes that shock of white hair very well.]

Riku?? [But she only manages two steps towards him, because Dog has blocked her way. His fur is practically standing on end as he snarls at Riku.]

[darkbreak]

[There's no immediate response. Maybe just the movement of his head towards her direction, and nothing more before he steps out toward her. He looks almost normal, hands shoved in his pockets, if it weren't for the bowed head and sloppy gait.

Dog's snarling will go without notice. He doesn't particularly care much for the mutt.]

[Thanks to Dog she's realizing that something is off about him. She stays where she is, Dog remaining between them and completely on edge.

But she's stubborn. She wants to believe he's okay.]

... Riku?

[darkbreak]

[He keeps on walking a response, though the closer he gets, the wider that little smile becomes.

There's no Keyblade around, no weapon in his hands, but he looks almost... confident with his expression.

A twisted kind of confidence.]

[Once he's close enough to see that expression she's taking a step back.]

No... [She doesn't want to believe it, but that isn't Riku. Riku wouldn't be scaring her or setting Dog off.]

[darkbreak]

[It's almost like a trigger word him, because he's coming forward at full speed towards her now as fast as his legs can take him.]

[Dog launches himself at Riku as Euri stumbles backward. Shit, even with all her preparations there's no way she can deal with this. She can't hurt Riku!]

Riku, stop it!

[darkbreak]

[NOPE.

Riku collides head on with Dog, trying to wrestle the canine to the ground so that he could get to Euri. Dog's bigger, even for Riku, and when a powerful jaw that will put him at a disadvantage with no weapon for himself. But, he damn well is going to try to win this tussle over Dog so that he can get to her.

For her efforts in trying to get him to stop though, he glances over for a split second, that wide grin still on his face and his eyes bright.]

D - Dog...! Don't hurt him too much!

[Dog is snarling and snapping, but he's following Euri's orders and mostly just doing it to intimidate. Euri stays back, trying to figure out what to do. They can't just leave him like this, but she can't hurt him....]

[darkbreak]

[Although Dog's just trying to be intimidating, Riku's not bound by the same command. He's trying to grab what he can, clawing at the canine's ears and face with his fingers and trying to rip out handfuls of his fur.

Intimidation isn't going to effect him and he's going to be quite sorry for doing this to Dog later.]

[Amazingly she doesn't feel completely useless for once. It's clear this isn't going to work - Dog is yelping as Riku manages to yank some of his fur out - so she darts forward and crouches, attempting to grab Riku's arm to drain his energy.]

[darkbreak]

[Her hand connects and already his body feels a little sluggish. But the important thing for Riku is now she's closer. Dog's not the intended target here; Euri is.

So even if he's holding on, draining his energy, Riku's going to shift his position and grab her arm. He might not have the strength to pin her down, but if he can get her to the ground he should have some sort of advantage.]

[She freezes and for a split second it appears that she's going to try and pull away, but doing so would break the transfer and she doesn't want to risk it. So despite the danger she keeps draining his energy, despite his grip.]

[darkbreak]

[Well Euri, you're one smart cookie. Because despite the still strong grip on her arm, he's finding it harder to have the strength to pull her down and keep Dog at bay.

That doesn't mean he's not getting points for trying though, but he is focusing far more on Euri than her canine friend.]
