Who: Alastair Stara and YOU
What: Sitting on the roof and being introspective! HOW EXCITING.
When: Day 189
Where: On a roof somewhere in the Sigyn district.
Rating: Oh, G probably. I'll make a note if it gets scandalous somehow.
[Alastair is not terribly accustomed to heights. He's climbed trees before, but the idea of running across rooftops as a way to travel quickly and easily completely escapes him. But he was told that this is what he must learn, so he might as well get used to it.
Alastair has made his way up to the roof of a building in the Sigyn district. He didn't climb up there, he's not that good yet. No, instead he found a building with roof access and did the sensible thing and climbed the stairs.
So now here he is, sitting on the edge of the roof and looking around the city.
This really doesn't seem like a safe thing to do.
Who came up with this idea anyway?
He sighs.]
What am I even doing?

So how do your friends feel about the leadership here?

Still. Talking about them either as friends or allies would be talking about them, and he wasn't supposed to do that.]
I wouldn't say I have a lot at the moment, but they're... unimpressed with how things have been handled.
[Awfully diplomatic. He's got a feeling it won't satisfy Pyro.
He's not entirely sure he cares if it does or not.]

[Blindly trusting kidnappers is stupid, no matter how you look at it.]

[The hand with the lighter comes back to life; once a wordless threat, it's little more than a tic here, now that all threat has been drained from it.]

I've lived in anarchy.

Wow.
Okay to be fair this kid has no idea what Alastair's seen and lived through but that just makes his blood run cold. He's starting to wonder if the man who killed his family and destroyed his country was anything like this.
He can feel his anger rising, but his voice stays remarkably calm.]
It's a matter of opinion.

So do I.

[He stares down into the lighter's little flame, his brow furrowing.]
Better to find out just what can kill these gods and take enough down to show the other ones we're not as trapped as they think.

Ambitious of you.

[There's a distinctly bloodthirsty look in his eyes. As far as he's concerned, they're worse than humans - being killed outright is better than being turned into a toy. His only regret is that one of them will probably have to be left alive to restore them and send them home.]

Still, he keeps his voice level, and his doubts as to Pyro's sanity to himself.]
You say that like it'll be easy.

Good luck.
[He's not going to help you.]

He arches his eyebrows, then pockets his lighter and turns away with a haughty glance over his shoulder.]
I really thought you might be worth something, too.
[He reaches the edge of the roof and lowers himself back down onto the fire escape, each clanking footstep on the ladder ringing loudly through the night air.]

What an asshole.
Alastair watches him go and is not sorry at all.
"Thought you might be worth something."
What a jerk.]
