|| Day 287 ||

Erica had found her way to the library. She'd brought books to Johannes earlier and maybe she was still thinking about what he'd told her, but she'd been finding her way around the stacks more and more recently. She had her visit with Merlin coming up and maybe that also drove her to the library. Somehow her choice to let Merlin look at her and try to magically heal her epilepsy had gotten around to the pack and now they all wanted to watch. The library was quiet and it let her think. She finds books on epilepsy, putting them into a pile. She digs through the aisle and tries to find something on werewolves that isn't in the fiction section.

Once she has a large stack of books, she moves to the chairs and curls up with a book to try and read what she can about her own disease. Her parents always handled it and usually she was given the pamphlet version of what was wrong with her. The internet would give her mixed answers, but these books at least seemed to have research she could see.

After a bit, she moved from the medical books and dove into the mystical and the legends of certain cultures. These were definitely more interesting than averages and percentages of people with symptoms.

|| Day 288 ||

Things with Merlin went off... with little incident. She didn't really want to focus on that. It still felt a bit weird to her and she didn't know if it was working. She would meet with Dr. Watson later and get a second scan. Erica wanted to do that, not just for her own knowledge, but because she knew that everyone that was concerned -- everyone that was protective of her would want to know too.

Baldr had a park. She'd been there a few times, but today she was planning on spending most of her time in the petting zoo. She liked the smaller animals, but she also didn't feel bad when she practiced her power on them. It was easier to switch to a different animal if she wasn't as good with the one. It also wasn't someone that was just letting her do it, it was her trying to really use her power.

"What? No, god, no. What the hell, Erica?" He frowned at her, that not being what he'd meant at all. "I meant because you'd sometimes lose control of your-- you know what, never mind."

He puffed out his cheeks, discomfort wedging between them thickly now. "Right, yeah. I get it. Look, I should let you get back to your, uh... whatever you were looking at." He seemed to be on a roll of pissing people off without intending too lately. Seemed only fair to add Erica to the pot.

Erica frowned, shaking her head, "No... I mean, you know more about this than I do."

It sounded a bit desperate, but she didn't really know if she could ask Isaac and Derek about things. They had lost that here and she didn't want to make them think about it too much.

"More about wh-- oh." Yeah, he probably did at this stage in her life. Hell, he still knew more than his Scott back home, and he'd been a werewolf for almost a year now. He was seriously going to get the guy a book or three to read on the subject.

"I guess that depends on what you want to know? I'm not Derek or Peter. They have all this 'I was born a werewolf and we know things' thing going on."

Her shoulder shrugged up a bit, "But I wasn't born a werewolf, that wouldn't really apply to me. I'd have to learn it, like Isaac and Scott. What would I have to learn?"

"Control is a big one. Not eating people. Figuring out what triggers changes in you, like anger, excitement, arousal, things like that. Working on how to not let those make you need a muzzle."

Erica stared at him. Mostly in disbelief. "Eat people? You think I'm going to eat people?"

"Scott said there was this Omega that broke into a grave and ate a liver and stopped an ambulance and ate that guy's liver as well. It happens, Erica. That's why you guys need to learn control. Scott almost had me for a snack once, and he likes me."

Erica felt like she was going to dry heave, but thankfully she kept her composure and just made a face instead.

"You mean, I have to learn control... there. I can't be one here. Something about the Gods and something being different here than it is at home. How does Scott learn control?"

"Well, yeah. I don't know what Derek does to you guys exactly. It's not like it's a spectator event. But Scott just... learned. I helped him out and he found his anchor. That thing he could focus on to keep him human and not let him wolf out." Yeah, he was kind of glad Allison had come along when she had, otherwise he might have wound up with a few cool scars to impress chicks with. Or, you know, missing an arm.

The anchor sounded familiar, like she had read about it in one of the books. Either way, she filed it away and nodded with his explanation.

"Was it hard for him to learn or did it just happen?" Truthfully, Erica wasn't sure why she wanted to know, but she figured that if something changed here -- if she was able to gain this, she would want to know these things.

"It wasn't right away. We had some... ups and downs. But Scott's a good guy. It helps that the idea of hurting anything practically has him in tears." Which was something he both loved and hated about Scott. Their lives would be so much easier if he'd just... looked the other way a few times.

Erica nodded, "I know he's a good guy. He's been nice to me; now that I'm here."

She can't exactly speak for anything before this. Even Stiles had his moments of ignoring her and not exactly seeming overly nice. "I'll have help back home, though, right? I won't have to do it alone."

He tried not to make a face at her 'help'. "You have Derek? Maybe? I don't know. I really don't know what your guys' dynamic is." Other than she'd taken off with Boyd.

The attempt to not make a face is not a solid one, Stiles. Erica noticed and tried not to look slightly amused, but her ability to not make a face was about as good as his.

"Right. It's fine, I will find out eventually, I guess. I don't know what else I want to know, but I feel like I should want the answers."

He sees that, Erica. Sure, go ahead. Laugh at him. LAUGH!

"I'd say talk to Scott about it." Because Scott had a way with people that Stiles didn't. And he wasn't Derek. Or Isaac. These were two really good selling points.

She nodded, "Yeah, that might be smart. I don't want to bother him about it though. I mean, he said he didn't really want to be a werewolf. Asking him to tell me things about it... it seems odd."

"Scott won't think of it as a bother." If anything, he'd be happy he could actually do something to help Erica, considering neither of them were wolfified anymore.

Nodding, Erica smiled, "I'll keep it in mind, Stiles."

Exhaling, she shifted on her feet, "I should probably let you get back to your browsing."

"Uh, yeah. Yeah, my book surfing. Not quite as fast as web browsing, but it'll have to do, right?"

She nodded, reaching to grab the book she came in that aisle for and then waves a bit before moving to leave him to whatever he was going to do.
