Who: Ash and Dragonmom
What: Ash wants to know what the trollgirl's deal is.
When: 290? 291? backdated a bit.
Where: Ash and Terezi's room in Loki.
Rating: maybe up to PG-13 for talk about troll culture, that stuff's messed up.
[probably, he should just let it go. really, he should. but he's still pretty annoyed about terezi's attempted manipulation, even the next day. kieran can tell he's stewing, and he can tell he's stewing, and it's not really worth the energy. but it also won't get out of his head. what was the point of it? what did she think she was going to gain that she couldn't get directly?
in the end, he waits until she goes out, and then makes his way out into the common area and sits down next to terezi's pile, where she's left her lusus' egg sitting, carefully supported so it won't tilt or roll. he puts his hand on the shell, which somehow remains brightly white despite the fact that it's always being touched by hands of occasionally dubious cleanliness.]

hello?

[ash isn't really purposefully projecting, but she can probably sense his disquiet regardless. he usually only talks to her when he's content, and he's not particularly that at the moment]

Not terrible, but I've been better. You?

i'm glad you're talking to me though! hi ashes, it's so nice to talk to you! her saccharine wheedling carries on for a few seconds before she quiets up again.

my baby was alone too much as a wiggler. she doesn't understand how it isn't good for her.

[he sighs and runs his other hand through his hair]
Yeah, maybe. I don't know, I don't think I understand her as well as I thought I did.

any warning indications ash feels are not accidental. she smells his reluctance and his sullenness and she respects them, but never before her precious baby.

I never figured she was. People aren't simple. I thought--actually, it doesn't matter what I thought. I know she plays games, pushes buttons, that kind of thing. But this time it was different, and I don't understand why she tried to get to me through Kieran.

what do you mean?
she's confused, because maybe she's a naive mother but that doesn't really sound like her baby at all. did terezi do something, she wonders, and maybe a little bit, the part of her that's an overprotective mother and still very much a child, thinks he must be wrong, because terezi wouldn't do anything like that!
even though she knows it's a lie. she remembers what her terezi's mind was like before she spoke to her. she remembers everything.
sigh.
