Who: Vanitas (
showmeanguish), Pyro (
outofcontrol) and Euri (
occulthymns)!
What: Euri gets sick, and surely Pyro and Vanitas can combine their skills to form one competent caregiver! Right?
When: Day 296.
Where: Mushroomhouse.
Rating: PG probably for Pyro's mouth.
[The day had started out terribly. Draco was gone - probably grey - which left her to handle the shop on her own. Not a big deal under normal circumstances, but she had felt a little under the weather the night before and the next morning it was a full blown cold.
To top it off, the damn store had apparently been broken into sometime in the night. Perfect.
Euri only stayed long enough to clean up a little, but with her cold worsening she has to lock up and retreat back to the mushroom, sniffling and just knowing Vanitas isn't going to react well.
By the afternoon she's changed into some comfy pajamas and retreated back to bed with Dog. The cold has turned into a full-blown fever and flu, but it seems to be steadying out. Not like last time....
Regardless, she's made a quick call to Pyro. Even if she doesn't get any worse Vanitas isn't exactly the most caring person ever. He'll need some help, and hopefully her being sick will temper both of them a bit so they get along. Five or so minutes after the call she'll be wandering through the mushroom to find Vanitas and let him know the good news.]

But he knows what 'hungry' means, and he's whining and wagging his tail.]

[He eventually sets the cup of tea further from her bed, then jogs back down the stairs to hunt for a chunk of meat. Will he find anything?]
no subject
But yeah, that sounds like a plan. The soup gets set next to the tea, while he just checks to make sure Euri's still breathing and all.]

... it's kind of funny, though. The image.
But she's sick.
Damnit, affection.]
Vanitas, you better wake her up now. Dog's not gonna stay still for long when I bring this up.
no subject
[Instead of waking her up abruptly, though, he just steps closer and slides his hand under her head, between her and Dog's side. That'll at least support her, once the canine does decide to jump down.]

That done, he moves to the bedside as well, although he doesn't make any physical gestures with Vanitas right there.]

The lack of PDA is appreciated.]
She still feels too warm.

She's got herbs for it, but I've got no clue as to which ones are which. [Then he meets the other's gaze.]
Flip a coin for who goes out to get something we know'll work?

Well, that's fine. Though he's not thrilled that he'll have to leave, and just gives a small grunt of acknowledgement. Still, he lingers for a few seconds longer, to adjust the blankets around her shoulders.]
Be back in a sec. [Then, he leaves, without so much as giving Pyro a second glance. He knows, at least, that he doesn't have to order him to stay and monitor her.]

It's right, after all the times she's watched over him, that he should be doing this. But he's never had a good sense of right and wrong, so it just feels claustrophobic and constricting when he thinks past her illness to what he's doing. Caring for her. Feeling this worried. It's all - not new, but too old, that's the real problem. They're things he's left behind.
But he doesn't move, and keeps stroking her hair gently.]

So he's gone for a total of thirty, before his boots make a few soft thuds on the stairs as he ascends back to the room with the medicine in hand.]
no subject
... Of course, when Vanitas returns he's perking up and barking, which startles Euri awake. She's mumbling something incomprehensible and with a tired huff stretches her arms out.]

'Morning. [He indicates the soup and tea by her bedside with a wave of his hand.] We got some Aspirin too, in case the plant version doesn't work.
["We."]
no subject
Feeling any better?
no subject
... Not really.
[She is eyeing lunch though, and she'll give them a small smile before reaching for the tea.]
But thanks.
no subject
[That's said in a gruff, bossy way to camouflage any worry in it.]
Still hot? [Meaning the tea.]

[And she'll nod! Sitting up properly so she can reach for the soup next.]
Mm, it's nice.
no subject
Alright. Where is it, then?
no subject
I've got some right here. [And he holds up the bottle he bought, shaking it slightly to make the pills rattle inside.]
no subject
She's trying the soup next! It smells good, so she's taking a big spoonful and....
Well.
She's swallowing it, at least?]
