What: Erica levels up and it triggers her seizures. Also triggers a fight with Isaac.

There is a definite sense of self-worth that Erica has these days. She knows that things aren't perfect, that Isaac still tries too hard to protect her. That secrets keep being laid out one over the other and that each time he expresses how it's not her - that he trusts her, that there is a sliver of doubt that comes from him. Things have been different since Isaac had come and gone. If it had been the thought that two of him here was difficult, that there was some hierarchy of one over the other, or that fears had laced through him Erica wishes that she knew. Trying to be helpful and actually being helpful are always two different things and when it's overtly clear just how little you can do to help every detail matters.

Details like showing Scott that she doesn't get lost in the city anymore. That she has a job and she maintains a routine. She has a doctor and a magician (though she's sure Merlin wouldn't appreciate that title) to help her with her epilepsy. She's better at using her power, even if she's positive that making baby animals walk won't really help out anyone at all. It matters to her though and she knows that Isaac is close with Scott, she knows that when things go to hell Isaac will tell Scott first. She knows that if she can show Scott that it's okay to trust her that maybe Isaac will feel better about it too.

Don't you worry about your parents?

Sometimes.

I just, I mean, it's different for me I guess. You already told me what happens for me, so I am sure my parents just get confused about what happens. All the years of lectures and them worrying -- I like making my own choices for once.

But... don't you miss them? I don't think I've ever heard you talk about them.

I do miss them, but... it's been then hovering over me for years. Having a month without them hasn't been too bad. It's like a vacation... with horrible things tucked into it.

Really? This is a vacation for you?

[All he could think about was wanting to go home and see his dad.]

[Erica shrugs. Stiles knows that she runs away. If she had parents that she wanted to be around, wouldn't she have just... ignored Derek like Jackson did? Refused his help? Not... just run off to who knows what? She's sure it's that Stiles doesn't understand how it felt to be her. To have that situation in school, to have seizures, to have everyone at school bully you about it.]

It's... it's better for me here than it is back home. I have friends. I make my own choices. It's hard to explain, I guess.

Yeah, but, what about your epilepsy? There's no medication here, is there? Or is there? I haven't exactly scoped out the hospital.

[She nods, taking another sip of her water.] I have a doctor here. John Watson and he's been taking MRIs to keep tabs on the healing, that Merlin is trying and I have prescriptions to control them. It's... I mean, I was doing everything right. It's not like back home where I stopped taking them.

I'm going to see him tomorrow. The doctor. I don't know if I'll go back to Merlin. Derek, Scott, and Isaac don't exactly seem to trust him.

They have MRIs here? Huh.

[He hadn't gone to the hospital to check anything out, so his knowledge of what technology they had here was at a zero.]

What's the difference in them and why don't they like Merlin?

[That Scott didn't like him had Stiles predisposed to not liking it either, but hey, he had to figure it out himself, right?]

They don't like Merlin because he's from before anyone knew how to treat things in the brain. He's not really familiar with my disease or how it works, but his ability here finds the things that are damaged and heals them. I've seen him a few times now. Because of all the previous seizures my brain has scarring on it. He's been removing that and possibly healing the pathways that create the abnormal activity.

They aren't comfortable with him messing with my brain when he doesn't know much about it.

Huh.

[He thought about that for a minute, knowing that there were some healers here with actual healing magic. Then he looked over at Erica.]

Is it helping? Do you think it's been making it better?

I went a month without a seizure, up until today. I haven't had that in a long time. [She shrugs, trying not to think about it. She's not sure what changed, what she did to trigger it. Which is more upsetting than the actual seizure itself.]

And how long as Merlin been working on you?

I've seen him three times since I got here. I was supposed to go sometime next week, but... I have to think about it. I mean, if it's not helping... I don't know. I just -- I thought I was doing everything right, but it still happened and I didn't change anything.

But they happened before you got here, too. I mean, it's up to you, Erica, but maybe you might want to keep trying both, if only to see if anything really shows up leaning in either side's favor.

[She shrugs.]

It's a lot to think about. I can't just figure it all out in a night.

Hey, no one's saying you have to.

Wait, no one is saying you have to, are they?

No... not really. [Though he did just tell her that she should do both.] It's just been a long day.

[Merely as a suggestion, Erica. Why do one when you could do both?]

Yeah, I kinda got that. You sure all you want's some water?

[She knows, but it's still a lot to think about.]

I might try to sleep. Not that... not that you have to stay for that.

Um, no offense, but I'd rather not punch out 'watch someone while they sleep' on my creeper Bingo card. We'll leave that for Derek.

[She nods.]

I can walk you out, if you want.

[He gave her a look.]

I think I can manage to find my way to your door without tripping and falling in a black hole. Just... go get some rest, Erica. I'll see you later.

[At his look she gives him one too.]

I was trying to be polite. [She's also on the second floor.] But I'll see you later, Stiles. [Like... in a few hours when the ice crap happens and everyone has to meet up at Sophie's.]

I know. But you don't have to. Just... get some rest. I'll see you, okay? Okay.

[He pushed himself off and headed towards the door, giving her a small wave before stepping through it and closing it behind him.]
