Who: Bruce Banner and John Watson
What: Bruce seeks work in John's clinic.
When: 356
Where: the clinic
Rating: PG
Bruce has taken, at long last, Natasha's advice to heart. In reality he simply hasn't been that keen on staying in Odin since the events that stole his voice away. Something about that experience had soured him on the place. Really, it might have more to do with the week that had come shortly before, the gouges that had been in his door, the damage from barricading himself in at nights... but no matter the cause, he has resolved that it is time for a change for the better, and the first step to that is buckling down and accessing some sort of income.
Besides, spending all day every day in the library is starting to give him eyestrain, and though it is now considerably safer for him to be crabby, he doesn't actually like it very much.
So, into the clinic it is. It's quiet in here, which isn't totally encouraging in terms of the likelihood of their needing staff, but maybe they're just having a lull this afternoon. At least means he feels all right approaching reception right away with a very polite;
"Excuse me?"

"Excuse me?"

But right now it's very quiet. Quiet enough that he jumps when the door opens. He doesn't look up yet, though, aside from a glance, because he's in the middle of a book and he finishes a paragraph before he raises his head. Bruce gets a smile too, naturally.
"Hullo. How can I help you?"
no subject
Might as well jump right in, after all.
no subject
"That would be me," he says as he walks around the table, extending a hand. "I'm John Watson."

He gestures towards the one hallway leading away from the reception and takes the lead.

Agreeing, moving after him with a grin.
"I mean, first you should definitely know that I'm a doctor, but not an MD. But the last few years I've worked doing housecalls in the bad part of Calcutta."
no subject
He walks into the nearest room and sits down at a desk there instead, motion at a couple of chairs by the wall. Bruce is welcome to take one.
no subject
He says, nodding.
"I liked it there, though I imagine a place like this would be very different to work in."
no subject
Even when it's active. Just not very exciting things.
no subject
A vague sort of wave, as he tries to be delicate.
"--I mean, I hope new staff would be feasible. You've set up a lovely environment."
no subject

Meaning he'd mostly stayed on top of his understanding of health and the human body.
"I worked for the military for a number of years, and then when we parted... aggressive ways over a research ethics issue, I lived under the radar, as I mentioned, primarily doing health care work in India. So essentially I'm completely uncertified in every important respect-"
But he knows the job. He gives John a crooked grin; it's completely at his discretion.

Giving his hand a firm shake. Always nice to meet someone who isn't too officiously bureaucratic.
Wowowow tenses
"You can come in when it opens tomorrow. I'll show you the ropes and we can discuss shifts and all that."
sorry, I somehow always revert to present tense, bad habit
He says, nodding sincerely.
"How are you for supplies and things? Tied into the city healthcare?"
No no that was me it's been present tense all the time I switched to past for a second kjsdfgkfjh
oh! haha, no problem then
He wonders, glancing around the little space.
xD

He agrees, nodding.
"So, you're in the medic corps, then? What's that like?"
no subject
"It's only actually busy during battle, but it's good. It works."
no subject
A one shouldered shrug. Battle isn't anything he's in a hurry to see.
no subject
He'll just refrain from saying that he hopes for it. Not that he actually likes war but... god, he craves it. He feels so much better when there's a battle ongoing.
Really, he ought to get help for that. But therapists are such a bother.
no subject
He admits, quietly.
"We seem to live like we're not at war?"
no subject
Not that he'll deny they are rather shoddily prepared for war. Still, there's hardly a specific way people were supposed to live to show they are indeed at war. Not from his experience.
