i never knew what it was like to stand on a tree so tall, but then i stood up and saw the sun
Who: johanna mason and desmond miles
What: uh haggling and probably flirting? don't look
When: 413?
Where: A Needle In A Haystack
Rating: probably PG-13 for language
[ It's curiosity that leads her to the small shop more than anything. With little else to do on a day like today, she wanders around Odin district until she stumbles upon the place, and of course she has to take a look. She isn't exactly well endowed here - she's used to money, but without any real marketable skills here Johanna has had to resort to some older skillsets.
Namely, mooching off of the people who care enough about her to keep her alive here. Thanks, Annie. ]
What do you have in the way of weaponry?
[ She just sort of announces that to the shop at large, poking at something until it almost falls over and quickly rectifying her mistake with a catch. She wouldn't normally care, but given the tight budget she's on she can't exactly afford any 'you break it, you bought it' rules here. ]

[ Not the answer she was hoping for, but she'll roll with it for now. With a slight smile she turns to the responder, raises her eyebrows and settles a hand on her hip.
(At least she's taken to leaving her ax at home, right? That smile looks a lot more dangerous when it's paired with a weapon resting comfortably on her shoulder.) ]
In that case, I think I'm going to have to test it and make sure.

Really though, she's piquing his curiosity. ]
Good choice. It'll be a moment, feel free to take a seat.
[ Cushions and low tables abound, few taken this early in the day before the modest lunch rush, so she's got the pick of the litter. Wherever she chooses, he'll bring her napkins and some sweet dates ahead of her brew, and then the coffee itself in a small silver pot. Desmond can't resist a little flourish when he pours it out for her, half custom, half his bartending days catching up with him. It's scalding hot but cools quickly in its small cup, distinctly aromatic with notes of spice throughout. ]
Is this your first time having Arabic coffee?

It's nothing personal, she's just got four odd years of being admired under her belt by now. ]
It is. Is it much different from regular coffee? [ Not that she's had much of that outside the Capitol either, but it's at least something to compare it with. Her seating choice is similar to the habits most from her world have clung to, something with a solid mass at her back and a good view of the surrounding area, but for now at least her guard is down. ]
