Who: Asuka and open
What: After having regained a particular object from home, Asuka decides to blow some steam off.
When: 419, before the event.
Where: The Baldr lounge and about.
Rating: PG for Asuka being Asuka.

After all the things that had happened to her as of late, the time had come to simply sit and wile away a few hours immersed in the world of crappy games from era just after the world went to hell.

Sitting alone in the lounge of her new home, Asuka focus was fixed entirely upon plastic screen of a portable gaming device held between firmly between her two hands. Her gaze never leaving the system's color display, her dedication to playing an unknown game is impressive, if just a little sad.

From time to time she mutters rather loudly about how the game is cheating or being unfair in German. Even if the words themselves maybe unknown to the listener, her tone still carries an obvious undercurrent of frustration and anger that is not entirely focused upon the game she is playing at the moment.

"It could be fun, but that still depends, what were you thinking of making the prize" Asuka asked slyly.

She liked a bit of competition, but was still a bit wary of the things that lie in Samantha's unconscious mind.

"That," she said, pointing at Asuka with an impish grin. "Is entirely up to you. You get to pick the prize this time, not me." It was a clever little ploy of hers. Make Asuka more comfortable with the idea of betting against her by letting her pick what the winner would get.

And, considering that she assumed she was losing, it was a way to see what Asuka would think of asking of her first.

Asuka thought for a moment before a single thought crept into the forefront of her mind, and, as it did, she perked up a bit.

"If I win, why don't you buy me dinner sometime?" Food was always good, and something that she hoped wouldn't turn into another awkward night. "Same goes if I lose, so then dinner would be on me."

She looked at her carefully for a moment, and then she got the most wicked smile. "Better yet, I'll cook something for you one of these days no matter what, but yeah. Dinner's on the loser," she said, nodding in agreement. "And when I cook, I can introduce you to my take on proper West Virginia cuisine."

...run.

"Sounds good to me, I can't even remember the last time I've had a home cooked meal."

Asuka sounded happy enough about the prospect. After all, it had literally been decades since anyone had made food for her.

"When did you want to carry out this little contest?"

"Give me a couple practice rounds so I know what I'm doing," she said, motioning to the game. "But otherwise, I'm up for a round right here and now if you are."

And, oh god she might want to rethink that whole notion of free food soon...

"Fair enough." After returning the game to the main menu, Asuka offered Samantha the handheld system. "Take as long as you need, then I can kick your butt."

The way that she was playing after the tutorial, it was pretty obvious that she wasn't going to have an easy time with this. Her fingers fumbled and she had a little trouble just with the controller. By the second, she at least had the controls right.

"No laughing!"

Asuka snickered, more so because she been told not to then anything else. "At least your learning, just a little more and I think we'll be ready for a little head-to-head action."

And that snicker got a raised eyebrow as she bit her lip and tried again. "Yeah yeah, this thing's harder than it looks," she muttered, grunting. "So, you wanting me to cook for you first or empty my pocket book? You can't possibly eat as much as another of my friends used to, so you won't bankrupt me."

"Let's go with the second one." Asuka smiled, that way it made it feel more like she won, rather then simply being treated by a friend. "And I'm a pretty light eater, you don't look this good eating like a pig, after all."

There was a look of pride in Asuka's eyes as she spoke. Her appearance was another thing she worked very hard to get just right, even in a post-apocalyptic wasteland like the one she had come from.

"Oh, you would have hated Eve. Girl never looked like she ate like a horse," she said, though as Asuka made the claim, she'd solicit a look. The game paused, and it was a brief, long and appraising look, one that got a little uncomfortable after a second before she coughed once and smirked to try and be disarming. She felt... a little wrong looking at her sometimes, but she was still attracted and she knew it.

"She didn't have your legs though. I'll say that."

"They are pretty nice, aren't they?" Asuka took a moment to stare at her own and briefly smiled, more then happy with what she saw. "You must have gotten a good look at them when I arrived in my plugsuit, huh?"

God, she had to mention the plugsuit didn't she? Samantha's face went beet red, and she lost that round completely, setting the controller down as she leaned back in the couch, looking at the ceiling. "No mentioning that perv's dream come true of a suit you came in while I'm trying to play," she said, snorting. "That's cheating... But yeah, I got a good look at them."

"Well, that and at the hot springs. You take good care of your skin."

For Asuka, there was something fun about the back and forth between her and Samantha. She really didn't have that many friends, so the simple act of being able to talk so casually with someone like this.

Readjusting herself once more on the coach, and finally settling down with her leg's crossed beneath her and her hands settled peacefully in her lap.

"If you think that plugsuit is pervy, you should have seen the test-type one they had me wear one time. It was completely transparent from just below my neck to just above my waist!"

She laughed a little. It was the only thing she could laugh about in relation to that particular incident.

"But I do try. I need to look my best for my own sake."

Transparent? From... to... She was looking right at Asuka, and failing miserably at not imagining the sight of it. She stuttered and swallowed hard while she worked to keep her composure. "That's ... that's... what the hell was wrong with them?!?" Her arms crossed over her own chest a little sympathetically.

"I mean, if you were alone in the cockpit it's still... good lord," she said, managing to laugh a little. It was good to be able to joke about these things, even if Asuka was torturing her a bit.

"That's it. Now I have to deal with that, so you have to play first and I try to beat your best score. Two out of three wins," she said, grabbing the controller and pushing it towards Asuka.

"And you've got the right idea. You're the one you want to feel good for most, though it doesn't hurt if the person you like enjoys it too."

"Fineeeeeee." Asuka quickly yanked the game system from Samantha's hand and launched into game. Though her actions were still more then a bit rusty, they were more then enough to provide a decent score that would be tough for a newbie like Samantha to beat without a good deal of luck.

"Ok, your turn." Asuka's gaze was strangely intense as she returned the game to her half-demon friend., even though there was a good chance she would win, her competitive drive still required that she go all out regardless of the skill of her oppnent.

Seeing that intense look in the girl's eyes, Sam looked at her with a raised eyebrow before scooting in a little closer to have the best view. She put in a valiant effort, focusing on the game as best she could. If the girl was going to be that way, she was going to give her a run for her money.

The end was still pretty predictable, but she was going to try. She was tempted, sorely tempted, though, to blow on the pilot's ear for game two with how bad her first round went.

"You did better then I thought you would." Asuka meant it to, she was actually a bit impressed by Samantha's performance. "I guess it's my turn again then?"

She leaned over and chuckled. "I'm a fast learner," she said. "What can I say? Maybe I've been checking up on ways to get the better of you? Ever think of that?" She giggled a little and handed the controller back. Once the game was started, she'd forego the ear and just let her tail wander. If Asuka wasn't paying that much attention, she'd get a little poke in the ribs at a key moment while Samantha pretended to pay attention to the game.

It 'had a mind of its own, after all.'

Taking the game once more, Asuka's eyes remained firmly pinned to the system's plastic screen as she began a new game with the aim of ending the contest once and for all.

Despite achieving a good rhythm and doing the best she could, her own intense concentration would be her downfall as Samantha's tail jabbing at her side caused her to jump a little, missing a key move and lowering her score a great deal in the process.

"Eeep!" Asuka jumped. "What was that?!"

A very naughty little limb that was hiding right then in the seat cushions to conceal its crime. Samantha snickered as Asuka jumped. "Hey, no blaming this on the mice now," she said, trying to look as innocent as possible as she got her hands on the controller.

The sad thing, though, was that she barely claimed the round cheating like that. "So... I guess it's going to come own to the last round, isn't it? Care to up the stakes a little? Loser wears something embarrassing to dinner?" This might just backfire horribly, but the talk of the plugsuit had it in her mind.

"Your on!" Asuka said in a manner as fiery as her hair color as she handed the game over. "And good luck, your going to need it~"

"You know I'm taking you out and making you wear that plugsuit of yours if I win this, don't you?" she said with an impish little look. "Complete with the red things in the hair." She settled into the game and focused. It was her best score by the thinnest of margins she'd managed, but if Asuka did as well as she usually did, she could beat it. It was just a question of whether or not that'd rattle her.
