John silenced for a while, eventually moving to lean against the wall. This was ... unexpected. He didn't think Riley would actually tell him anything. After all, she hardly knew him more than as someone who mattered to Ellie one way or another.

Not that he didn't appreciate it. In fact, it was nice that she wasn't entirely distrustful towards him, or just completely neutral.

"I don't know much about your world, but I know it's a lot of crap."

It would be stupid of him to doubt Riley when he had spent so much time with Ellie. It didn't surprise him that Riley wasn't quite so happy as she acted.
