So fill to me the parting glass
Who: The Assassins and friends
What: Promotions and a party
When: Day 601
Where: A Needle in a Haystack
[Altaïr, Ezio and Desmond before the ceremony]
[There are a number of things to take care of in the bureau before they finally go home, but this is one of the most important, and one of the simplest—they've been in agreement about this next step for a long time now.
So the two of them are completely prepared as they wait for Desmond to response to their message and show up early. It remains to be seen whether he is, too.]
[Assassin pomp and circumstance]
[For some time now, the brotherhood of Asgard has been a fusion; Travelers and natives, they've worked together and learned from each other. But no longer; now, they are simply the Assassins of Asgard, to be led by the new Mentor, Desmond Miles.
Ezio handles most of the speech, but they both make it clear how proud they are and that they expect the good work to continue once they are gone.]
[ooc; any Assassins who want an official endgame promotion, step right up!]
Party Time
[What it says on the tin. Invited friends who don't know what the Assassins are will just think it's another farewell celebration. Others will know it's more of a graduation day. Either way, good times are had by all.]

But really, has it happened this fast, or has it really been three years by now? At times it seems less, and others it becomes painstakingly longer. Ezio does not regret it, however, all the heartache and all the pain and all the joy that came with everything they did. As a whole. As a group. As family.
Now he waits with Altaïr, pleased with this ending and the new beginning that will start with the Brotherhood. They've all come a long way since they first began their journey here.]
It has been a long time, amico. But I am thankful we are able to see this through before we leave.

[Years and years of life for Desmond, Yusuf and the others. It will be hard to walk away and not see the days to come by their sides, but easy, too—because he has every faith in them.]
They will do us proud.

He's practically flying overhead, running the same rooftop pathways he's taken for a year now, well-memorized, well-worn. A thousand and one questions have flitted through his mind since the gods have allowed them to stay, namely that of who will be entrusted with helming the Assassins when Ezio and Altaïr have left for their own times.
He wondered if they might pass the torch to him. Would they, leaving behind the next generation of a family legacy? Would he be ready for that level of responsibility? Desmond certainly noticed their hands-off approach in recent months, the way the apprentices came to him directly for questions or help, instead of the mentors. Almost as if someone (or someones) directed them to do so.
Then again, he could be overthinking things. The rooftop entrance to the shop is ahead, and he slows to drop in.
Ezio and Altaïr are there already, waiting. Ulp. ]
Made it! Sorry, I missed your message.

You certainly chose to take your time, figlio.
[It's said as a method of teasing, however- no malice intended.]

[There's no more seriousness in his tone in Ezio's, though perhaps his good humor isn't as obvious as Ezio's.]
But it's good that you're here now. There are some important matters we must discuss, and they cannot wait.

[ He glances from Mentor to Mentor, not in unease but searching. Oh, this...might very well be what he was thinking about. Or maybe it could be something completely different. Either way he open and eager to listen. ]
Lay it on me.

Our time here together is limited. We all know that. But we've accomplished a great deal these last years, and that cannot end with our departure. But we've just as much to see to at home.
[A faint smile touches his lips. Of course, Desmond is very aware of what they have left to take care of in their times. More than the two of them are.]
It has been a privilege to lead with you, Ezio. And a great reassurance to know that what we built in our world will live on in the centuries to come. But Asgard is something different. If the Brotherhood is to thrive, it will need guidance once we've gone. A new Mentor with the skills to lead it.
[He's never been one for ceremony, but now is when Altaïr has the sense that they should give something to Desmond. But there is nothing they can give, to symbolic object or a single weapon, passed down through the ages to each successor. All they can give is their esteem and their trust.]
It is you, Desmond. Mentor of the Asgardian Assassins.
Pomp and party
[Honestly, she's not really expecting a jump in the ranks. Riley is just happy for Desmond above all, letting out a cry for him because it's what she does. No reason not to be happy even with all this fancy Assassin ceremony or whatever business, right?
They're supposed to be happy.
She gives a nudge to one of the other recruits, having fun just celebrating the successes of others.]
Party
[Well now it's time to party. Riley has a drink in hand and is sitting on a barrel telling people stories about...anything really. Battles here, battles back home, pranks she's pulled...
All anyone has to do is come up and ask for a story and she's got one ready.]
party meant to do this ages ago
Heya, Grasshopper.

[She actually hugs him back, so much more open to touches now. Of course, then she punches his arm too.]
Look at you all boss man now.

Respect your elders, whippersnapper. I have some big shoes to fill. And I have something for you, too.
no subject
Something? What is it?

[ Away from the group, where he ducks in one of the side rooms of the bureau to grab for this something among his things and come back to her. ]
You haven't been with the Brotherhood for very long, but you've more than proven yourself since day one. I'm very proud of you, Riley, and I know that you'll continue to make me proud in the days to come. It's time that you earned this, as part of the next step of your apprenticeship.
[ He offers the something to her, a dark-finished wooden box with a hinged lid, lined in muted red. There's a hidden blade for her inside, slim to fit her smaller arm. It means his implicit trust in her, Mentor to student. ]
no subject
Yeah?
[Taking the box, she opens it up because there is no way she won't. When she does, her eyes go wide, recognizing it after being with the Brotherhood. Lifting the weapon up, she admires the quality of it and how it's sized to fit her before putting it on and testing how it slides out.
They...they really trust her. This is the best organization that she's been a part of and she actually has to rub her face on her should because motherfucking stupid tear.]
Shit, this is so awesome.
