Who: Roxy Lalonde ([personal profile] tipsygnostalgia) Jake English ([personal profile] hopefulpageturner)
What: It's about time Roxy told Jake some details of her past.
Where: Jake's Room, Freya House
When: Day 59
Rating: PGish

Roxy felt like an idiot as she made her way across the building to where Jake lived. She had desperately wanted to tell him all the secrets and events of her life that she and Dirk had kept from him, feeling that because they were in this place, this city of Gods, there was a good chance that he may just believe her. Since they had met she had been trying to come up with various ways to approach the subject but how do you casually tell one of your best friends "Hey, by the way I actually lived four hundred years in your future"?

Not that it mattered any more. Of course he happened to check a random network post as she was goofing off. Of course.

She can't help but let out a frustrated sigh towards her self as she stood outside his door, knocking once.

"Jakey? Can I come in?"

Jake had been sitting on his bed, trying to wrap his mind around how it would be possible that two of his best friends were from so far in the future. It made no sense to him. He had been talking to two people on the internet...from four hundred years from his time. It was wild, and he just...didn't understand.

He glanced up when he heard the knock, knowing that it was Roxy and smiled lightly.

"Of course, come right in. Door's unlocked."

Needless to say, Jake actually is quiet a moment as Roxy explains this to him. In a way, he's not exactly upset, and he's not skeptical about the idea either. In fact, he kind of had a feeling that something was amiss with his communications with Dirk and Roxy all this time. Seriously, Dirk was able to send Jake pieces of a robot to assemble to fight him...that's not something that normal people can do.

"You know, believe you, Rox." he says quietly, looking up with a rather pleasant smile on his face. "I mean, what with my being able to talk to Jade from over a hundred years in the past too, I can actually believe this." But then he pauses. "Aliens you say? You mean, like the trolls, and UU?"

His mouth shapes a word, indicating continued interest.

"But...the Marquise told me about that woman! She told me she was this violent, dastardly witch who was all about killing people that defied her! You mean to say she actually arrived at Earth somehow?" Jake squirms a bit, looking slightly panicked. "Roxy, Roxy, oh my lord, Roxy, Janey is still back home! We can't let her keep using her fancy do-dads!"

He shudders slightly. A world that's pretty much just the ocean.

"How...how do you and he do it?"

He manages to smile a little bit.

"Well, maybe since we're not there now, Janey can't play that game, and everything will be alright, and maybe if we hope really hard, she'll come here and then we can fix everything. Right?" Ah, Jake. Ever the Page of Hope, aren't you? Maybe he's right. Maybe he's wrong. Who knows. But he does know that...things are hard and he might not be able to make things right if he fucks up.

He then reaches out and places a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her a fair bit. He tries to smile, but it's all kind of a scary idea for him to know this. To know that two of his best friends were having such a hard, terrifying life. "I'm glad we could be therefor you..." he says quietly. "But really...maybe if we hope that Janey comes here hard enough, she'll get here and we won't ever have to worry about this stuff again?"
