Who: Roxy Lalonde (
tipsygnostalgia) Jake English (
hopefulpageturner)
What: It's about time Roxy told Jake some details of her past.
Where: Jake's Room, Freya House
When: Day 59
Rating: PGish
Roxy felt like an idiot as she made her way across the building to where Jake lived. She had desperately wanted to tell him all the secrets and events of her life that she and Dirk had kept from him, feeling that because they were in this place, this city of Gods, there was a good chance that he may just believe her. Since they had met she had been trying to come up with various ways to approach the subject but how do you casually tell one of your best friends "Hey, by the way I actually lived four hundred years in your future"?
Not that it mattered any more. Of course he happened to check a random network post as she was goofing off. Of course.
She can't help but let out a frustrated sigh towards her self as she stood outside his door, knocking once.
"Jakey? Can I come in?"

She can't help but let out a frustrated sigh towards her self as she stood outside his door, knocking once.
"Jakey? Can I come in?"
no subject
He glanced up when he heard the knock, knowing that it was Roxy and smiled lightly.
"Of course, come right in. Door's unlocked."
no subject
"I'm sorry. I should have told you the moment we met here."
She sighs, reaching over to pick up one of Jake's hands in her own. "Guess I should start from the beginning, huh? What I said in that note was true, Dirk and I come from the 2400s. From your future. Our pesterchum was mixed with alien technology which allowed us to send or receive messages from different points in time."
no subject
"You know, believe you, Rox." he says quietly, looking up with a rather pleasant smile on his face. "I mean, what with my being able to talk to Jade from over a hundred years in the past too, I can actually believe this." But then he pauses. "Aliens you say? You mean, like the trolls, and UU?"
no subject
She pauses again, trying to find the right words to explain it as best she could. "Her Imperial Condescension is their leader, empress, whatever. And I know that Jane never believed me and always thought I was just being a silly drunk but she really was behind the scenes of Crocker Corp. Filling all your heads with subliminal messaging before she took over."
"Skip forward a few centuries and there's practically no land, just seawater everywhere and Earth is nothing like it was for you. Ruled over by the Batterwitch, nothing but an ongoing nightmare that Dirk and I were dropped in, all alone.
no subject
"But...the Marquise told me about that woman! She told me she was this violent, dastardly witch who was all about killing people that defied her! You mean to say she actually arrived at Earth somehow?" Jake squirms a bit, looking slightly panicked. "Roxy, Roxy, oh my lord, Roxy, Janey is still back home! We can't let her keep using her fancy do-dads!"
He shudders slightly. A world that's pretty much just the ocean.
"How...how do you and he do it?"
no subject
"She is exactly that. Evil cake selling genocidal alien olverloard sea queen, remember?" She is certain Jake can remember that description she gave of the batterwitch once.
"I tried telling Janey about it, and a lot of other things but she never believed me. Anyway it may be too late, her invasion is due to start soon, in the year you and her are living in. Or were living in, before you ended up here. Not only that but I know her plans require us to play that stupid game, it's why I didn't want to have anything to do with it."
The last question was harder to answer. She retracts her hands, bringing her knees up to her chest in an almost defensive gesture as she thinks about it. She had wanted to tell jane and Jake about it all for so long, to have them believe her, yet it also felt strange to be talking about it with someone who wasn't Dirk.
"We never really knew any other way, Jake. We just had to survive, to move forward through every terrible thing that was thrown at us." There is a pause, and she smiles again. "But we met you. Jane too. Having the two of you as friends helped a lot and now we are going to play a game to try and end it all once and for all. Things aren't so bad, Jakey!Heh."
no subject
"Well, maybe since we're not there now, Janey can't play that game, and everything will be alright, and maybe if we hope really hard, she'll come here and then we can fix everything. Right?" Ah, Jake. Ever the Page of Hope, aren't you? Maybe he's right. Maybe he's wrong. Who knows. But he does know that...things are hard and he might not be able to make things right if he fucks up.
He then reaches out and places a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her a fair bit. He tries to smile, but it's all kind of a scary idea for him to know this. To know that two of his best friends were having such a hard, terrifying life. "I'm glad we could be therefor you..." he says quietly. "But really...maybe if we hope that Janey comes here hard enough, she'll get here and we won't ever have to worry about this stuff again?"
no subject
Moving closer she wraps her arms around his, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Having Dirk and Jane here with us is all I could as for, Jake. All I wanted from that game was for the four of us to meet. To meet my mom or daughter and to help give us all some sort of a future.. and we could have that here, right?"
