now I ain't sayin she a gold digger [CLOSED]
Who: Diva (
madamemoiselle) & Cheriour (
clockeyes)
What: Cheriour wanders into a cute bakery, but one of the employees is a surprise.
When: Day 60
Where: A random NPC bakery in Freyr
Rating: PG-13 for Diva... Just being herself...
[In a way, it was mostly to prove to Claire that she wasn't so sheltered, thank you very much. Her idea of helping Carl buy them a house played a part too, but it was still mostly a matter of injured pride.
Of course, getting a job through flirtation and manipulation didn't exactly disprove Claire's point, but that was lost on Diva. As she saw it, she had gotten a job, and that was therefore good enough. She frequented the bakery in Freyr almost daily, so it was easy enough to just play up her charm until the owner, who she had given a face and name, conceded and gave her a simple job behind the counter. It was easy, and she'd only been working it for a few days (since she had sung for the network), but she didn't mind it.
After all, her Grigori was perfectly happy to just let her read and be charming to the customers, occasionally ringing up their orders or delivering them. Her face and charm alone drew his admiration, as well as quite a few more customers.]

[He then proceeds to get back up to the counter, placing his hands on it so that he can stare into her eyes with a disbelieving smirk.]
What bad desires do you think I could have, miss?
no subject
[She tilts her head slightly]
Are you so deluded that you think your desire to kill me is good? Even I know that's not it at all.
no subject
[He's practically hissing right now.]
Whatever God says is good, so, judging what I do is like judging Him. I have no desires, miss. I only have the desire to follow wherever He tells me to go and do.
no subject
What a joke. I'll judge God all I want, because it's stupid. If he made everything, like humans believe, that means he made Chiropterans too. So we have to be "wicked" to live. What kind of sense does that make? You're just a murder, Cheriour. You just have a cute way to justify it.
no subject
[His tone is light, cheerful, though his grin is far from it.]
And me, a murderer? My, miss, you're quite mistaken! A murderer seeks out people on his own and murders them for his own malicious intent. I kill to protect the innocent from people like you. So, I'm quite the opposite from a murderer. You've got it all quite wrong!
no subject
No, I don't think that I do. But you're not being fair, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. After all, aren't you seeking me out? You already killed me once, so are you going to kill me over and over again?
[a beat, then,] Hey, Cherie, did you think that maybe it's people like you that made someone like me? Why is it that Saya is good and I'm bad? Do you know?
no subject
[He shrugs slightly, but his gaze never leaves her face.]
Perhaps! Though, honestly, in the very end, it's all because of you. I have seen people grow up with the worst kind of people around them and they are forgiving like nothing else. Others have been brought up with everything they ever needed- love, affection, a family- and they became coldblooded killers. In the end, its your own decisions who make who you are. Not the people around you.
no subject
[It's mocking, of course, but she says it as if she's completely sincere with the sentiment. Diva sets her head in her hand, staring at him intensely again, with even a gleam of that unnatural light just barely behind her irises.]
Because you know, where I'm from? You're nothing more than a monster. I'm just waiting for you to realize that! I wonder what it'll take...? Because it's not about killing me anymore, is it? You want to see me suffer. You want to torture me to death, and I know, Cherie. You wanted to take pleasure in my pain when you were burning me. I know that look better than anyone else.
no subject
I'm not a monster! You are! I'm an angel of the Lord, miss! We're the last thing from monsters.
[And then he sniffs and draws back a little, calming down. Some of the faceless patrons are already staring, their attention having been caught by his sudden outburst.]
...You're just a thorn in my side, Diva. An annoyance. A fly that won't die. That's why I want to kill you so badly. Because I am not the type of being to leave a job like you unfinished.
no subject
[She sounds surprised by this, tilting her head slightly]
Ahh, then why is it that an angel got frustrated when I didn't respond to what he was doing? "One begs to ask whether you feel anything at all," isn't that right? If I'm a thorn or a fly, then why? Why would you go as far as to want to hurt someone else, who I only claim to like?
no subject
[His tone is cold, unfeeling, completely detached- his is the voice of a killer. He smiles slightly, though it is not a nice one.]
I...I want you to understand the pain you cause others. I want you to understand how much misery and despair that has been wrought by your own hands and push it onto you so that you understand the terrible fate you deserve. And why I'm so concerned for your love? An eye for an eye, Diva. You take away the people that are dear to people's hearts, it is only fair for me to take away the one that is closest to yours.
Don't you see? It's cause and effect, really. You murder, tempt, and corrupt. And I bring your entire world down as a result. Isn't that what punishment is? When you have an animal disobey, you don't ignore it and move on. You teach them a lesson. You show them that if they continue doing what they're doing, then nothing but bad consequences await them.
[His grin widens into a leer.]
And this, my dear, is the lesson I'm going to teach you.
no subject
Well, then you're not very good at it, you know. I'll never learn, because I don't want to. So I'll only get worse just to spite you, you know. You can't control me, Cherie! I haven't given you that privilege. Hey, so if you want me to understand pain, I'll make sure that you feel it first one hundred times over.
no subject
[He replies in a rather mocking tone, pretending to look surprised before letting his face fall back in its usual grin.]
Why, me feeling pain? Hurt me all you want, miss. It doesn't matter. Because all I have to do is knock you out and drag you somewhere and lock you up where you'll never get out again.
[He lets out a laugh.] Don't presume to think that I can't find ways to make you learn, miss. Because I know that you have weak points. All I have to do is prod them until you want to learn.
Even monsters can get hurt.
no subject
What about the ones that you love, then?
no subject
I can get hurt, yes. But I will never allow them to be. But you wouldn't understand that sort of devotion, would you?
no subject
A little while ago, I would have said "no" and it would have been honest! I've received that devotion enough times, but never given it. I never needed to.
[There's a softness in her words and expression] But humans, they're really fragile, aren't they? So I want to protect him if I can, because I can stand pain and dying a lot more easily. I never needed to do that for my Chevalier, because they were just as strong as me. It didn't matter.
no subject
[He lets out a short laugh, folding his arms.] They aren't as fragile as you think, miss. And really, it just sounds to me like you're keeping him intact like an heirloom. He's so pretty and fragile that you have to put him in a cabinet so that no one can touch him.
Isn't that a bit selfish, don't you think? You're just doing it because he pleases you, you don't care what he thinks of the whole situation, do you?
no subject
Ah... That's selfish? I don't understand. Why is it bad for me to want him to stay safe?
[She won't mention that there really is a good basis for this, with how much Johan gets beaten up, but she is genuinely confused by the idea.]
no subject
[He's really testing the waters with this, trying to understand their relationship a bit better. Is it one-sided? Or are both in cahoots with one another?]
Besides me, who are you protecting him from? Or am I really the only threat to his existence around here?
no subject
Ugh, before you did, he was going to kill me too, but I think mostly for fun. You know, actually, not even twelve hours after you killed me, he strangled me! That's just not fair. He's rude!
[sorry cheriour, she's stuck on hating claire now]
no subject
[He looks intrigued by the thought that there's a person out there who seems to hate Diva as much as he does. PERHAPS THEY COULD JOIN FORCES if it wasn't for the fact, that you know, CLAIRE FREAKIN' WANTS TO HAVE THE SILLIEST FIGHT EVER DUE TO HIM WORKING FOR DIVA.]
Who is he?
no subject
[yeah you... keep telling yourself that, diva...]
I think he would probably kill you for fun anyways, so I'm going you a favor.
no subject
[He lets out a scoff.]
Nice, another little heirloom to add to your collection! And is he really that violent? And here I was thinking you were the one he was primarily concerned with.
no subject
[There's the implication there that she had thought about it, of course.]
It's just better for me if he likes me. He... [frowns] He definitely doesn't think of me as a threat, but... I guess that's better for me. Even if it's annoying, because he's wrong!
[She makes a huffy noise] I wouldn't want him in my collection anyways. I'd kill him if I could.
