[ 7:00 AM.

The big, city-wide holiday has finally come. For Hanako and Damien, it seemed like forever, but in actuality it was a whole ten days of preparing, planning, organizing, advertising, spending, and working. It was a hell of a lot of sweat and tears, but eventually they've done it. This is, without any doubt, the biggest achievement.

The crowd standing around the Sigyn Welcome Hall is impressive. They're more than they could ever imagine. The natives cover most of it, of course, and among them there are also the grey and faceless, sign that the general enthusiasm of everyone else drove them in somehow. Just as they thought, it worked. The ferocious advertising they had done the past days really paid off.

There were no particularly outstanding decorations, but there are fancy ribbons and strings spread here and there. This is not a party, although the table stands with food and refreshments may make it look like one. Those are all for lunch break, although they could be refurnished in case there will be an improvised party at the end of the day...

Standing at the entrance, there is a large sign with painted words written on them. Instead of an actual speech, Hanako and Damien decided on letting people know through something less pretentious. ]

WELCOME, CITIZENS! THANK YOU FOR TAKING PART IN THE ARBOR DAY! Please read this!

- Pick whatever gardening tools you need! If you brought them with you, all the better!
- Look for a companion to work with! It is not necessary nor obligatory, but planting is more fun when you have someone sharing their experience with you!
- Choose an area you want to fill with whatever you want to plant. This way, you won't have to scatter around the city messily and tire yourself out more then necessary.
- Please keep the tools once you finished your work! They may be important if you'd like to start a garden of your own.
- Refreshments and food will be provided to you during lunch break. Drinks will be distributed once every two hours, to make your work less tiring.
- You may bring your own seeds. Every type of plant is legitimate, unless it's poisonous or dangerous for animals or humans alike.
- Growth users may use their power to speed things up. Be mindful of your energies, though!
- Have fun planting!

[ Indeed, laying and occupying pretty much most of the welcome hall, set on either tables or the ground, there are plenty of gardening tools. Watering cans, shovels, rakes, hoses, dibbers, handling items, pots, whole packs of soil, and the list could go on forever and ever. They're just waiting to be picked and used, along with a great amount of seeds of any kind.

Come to Damien or Hanako if you need some pep talk before the planting, although they will sure totally suck at it. Just... talk to them, if you'd like. Other than that, enjoy and remember: you can be the star of today, it is you!

... I suck at ending posts, I'm so sorry ]

Samantha did not enter Freyr district for a while. She was apparently one of the only people who had been working in Loki district, so her plantings and note-taking had been rather busy for almost her entire stay in the district. She was wiping some of the sweat from her brow and bringing a few more plants to one of the other districts when she heard the most god-awful racket.

Who in the hell brought a chainsaw to this town, at a time like this. She looked around the corner at Kanaya, and her jaw just dropped. There was another of these gray-skinned, yellow horned things that looked like demons, mauling a tree in what she had to assume was a twisted version of trimming or pruning.

"Ummmm," was all she got out during one of those moments that the thing was down to puttering rather than revved up.

Hey, don't diss the chainsaw. It's her weapon of choice, and it doubles as a tube of lipstick. As if she'd ever leave home without it!

Her skin is a great deal lighter than those of her species -- in fact, it's quite white and pale. But those horns are always a constant, and a big tipoff that yes, she is a troll.

She's only in the middle of her work. It'll look better once she's finished, promise! She's put down the saw for a moment in order to survey what needs to be done, and that's when she hears Samantha.

"Yes?"
samantha_grey: (Oh?)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-10 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
She raises a finger, pointing at the chainsaw (whose lipstick tube she had not yet seen, and which probably would have made her twitch just slightly more). She wasn't sure if the woman was insane, or brilliant, to hack with something that dangerous. Aradia had at least been almost normal, almost. A little excitable.

"Isn't that thing dangerous to go waving around like that?" she said, leaning against a tree and leaving the wheelbarrow with saplings next to her waiting for plantings. "What exactly are you trying to do?"

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-10 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, she's not insane! Not in the traditional sense, at least. She's seen death and been killed herself before she reached seven solar sweeps of age, but such a thing is normal for trolls.

"Not if you know how to use it, which I do. Some of the fully grown trees required a more aesthetic touch."

She turns back to her tree, readying her chainsaw again.

"I suggest coming back when the product has been completed. I've only just started."

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-10 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I could use some entertainment," she said, shrugging and finding a spot to sit down. She could also use a break. She'd been doing this for a while after all, and watching Kanaya had the advantage of making sure she didn't accidentally hit someone, which was something Samantha wasn't yet willing to believe wouldn't happen. "You don't mind if you've got an audience for a minute, do you lady?"

At the very least, maybe it would give her a better idea about these creatures. They looked like demons, but they didn't act at all like them, at least not the sorts she'd seen. They were too unpredictable and chaotic.

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-10 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
With a smirk, she replies,"All right then, I suggest you get comfortable. An audience would be quite nice, in fact."

Cue the revving of her chainsaw, as she returns to her work. Unfortunately for Samantha, she's chosen the most odd of the trolls to study. Most of those in her species wouldn't even consider something of an aesthetic nature.

Eventually, the mass of green will begin to resemble some sort of cloud.
samantha_grey: (Riiight)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-10 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she somehow always had the luck of putting herself in a position where she wasn't likely to learn that much. She did, however, get quite the show of plant matter flinging in all directions while the cloud was being crafted. One arm coiled around a leg as she cocked her head.

"Curious choice. So the trees meet the sky?" she said with a bit of a smirk, at least impressed that the troll had managed something like that with a chainsaw. Admittedly, that made her more than slightly nervous about the dangers of tangling with someone who used something like that.

After all, that sort of a tool almost screamed a violent personality.

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-10 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
She smiles to herself when she hears the question. "You could say that. But clouds are always something that have been present in my dreams. I've taken to associate them with feelings of comfort."

It's not a lie -- her dreams on Prospit and the Skaian clouds were able to show her events that were to happen in the future. The hard part was reading them and filling in the blanks, but the fact that she knew at least a bit of what was to come was a reassurance.

As for violence? Well, that's only if she's angry enough.
samantha_grey: (Sad Smile)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-10 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Eh, clouds have always just been clouds for me. Sometimes I see things in them, but if it works for you it works for you," she said, shrugging and leaning back while watching the chainsaw out of the corner of her eye. Sam tended to assume people were possibly violent until proven otherwise. It was just a good habit.

"Samantha," she added, eyes regarding the woman levelly, trying to get a measure of her. For now, it felt like she was dealing with a modern art sculptor. That, at least made some sense... some.
debunk: (SIXTY-NINE)

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-10 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Granted, the clouds here are much different than the ones i'm used to. But the sentiment is still there."

She looks over her topiary masterpiece once more, deeming it sufficient enough for show. It's been awhile since she's sculpted, but she's still got it!

"Kanaya. It's a pleasure to meet you." she replies, shifting her chainsaw to it's lipstick tube state before climbing down from her ladder and giving a curtsy.
samantha_grey: (That's not What I Meant!)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-10 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
She was about to say something to her when she hopped down. Then the miniaturization incident occurred, the chainsaw almost disappearing and the demoness eyes opened like saucers and her jaw dropping visibly. She felt her lips twitching before she got to her feet, confused and more than a little distressed. It was a safe thing to remember that Kanaya could always be armed at any time, if it could collapse that far.

"That thing, how in the hell did you get that?" she said, motioning towards the tiny tube and getting up. She gave a lame sort of bow, being rather unaccustomed to that sort of motion. "I have to say it's... impressive."

"Every person in my universe has an allocated strife specibus that they find and learn to use. This just happens to be mine, and thank you for saying so. I also think it's quite practical."

She smiles, unscrewing the tube and putting the black side of the lipstick on her already naturally black lips. They can always be blacker, you know.
samantha_grey: (Riiight)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-10 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Her head cocked and she reached up to scratch it. "Ok, that tears it. You're one of these trolls, aren't you? Aradia used words like that before," she said shaking her head to clear it a little. "Yeah, I guess it is pretty practical to have a weapon that can collapse that small."

And yeah, the black of her lips was definitely something she could appreciate. She had an occasionally gothic sensibility herself after all.
debunk: (SEVENTY-TWO)

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-10 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I am indeed 'one of those trolls'. Though I'm surprised you were able to make the connection just from that term -- the humans from our plane of existence also use strife specibi."

A lot of people don't seem to know what those sorts of mechanics are. It's strange, but not surprising. She's learned firsthand that Asgard brings all kinds here, and Samantha is not an exception.
samantha_grey: (Pensive)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-10 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Never heard of anything like. You've got demon-looking yellow eyes, yellow horns and your skin's a little ... well, Aradia was gray. You look kind of pale, actually," she said by way of explanation. "And she used words that didn't make any sense. There's a couple other around the house of horrors, so I figured you probably had to be one."

Samantha definitely had little to no experience with trolls or anything from their world. She only really knew that they existed, and was still struggling to believe they weren't just some screwed up version of demons. the chainsaw wasn't helping.
debunk: (FIFTY-EIGHT)

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-13 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose i'm a bit of an... 'oddity' among my race, in more ways than one. Though I assure you that the similarities between trolls and humans are as plentiful as the differences."

It's to be expected -- what human would be so ready to accept that aliens exist? It can be draped with the fact that they're in a world ruled by gods, but it's still a shock nonetheless, and Kanaya knows that.
samantha_grey: (Oh?)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-13 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Ok, I'll bite. What makes you so different from the others? I've only really talked to Aradia so far and she's mostly just kind of creepy an energetic most of the time," Samantha said, shrugging. "It's difficult to know what's different if I don't know what's really normal anyway."
debunk: (Default)

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-13 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
And that question makes her sigh before she replies.

"Several things, all of which are complications of a long and drawn out story. But the most obvious include my luminescent skin and requirement of blood to survive."

She'll let the girl draw her conclusions from that.
samantha_grey: (Oh?)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-13 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least she was straightforward about that sort of thing. She raised a single hand, the index finger extended upwards in a forestalling motion. "No snacks," she said, though lips were quirked in a wry grin. Vampirism, which was what she assumed was being mentioned, wasn't something she was unfamiliar with. It was easier to deal with in its own way.

At least, as long as the vampiric troll kept her distance.

"But fair enough I suppose. You learn something new every day."
debunk: (ONE )

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-13 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
She smiles at that, and the fangs that could just be seen peeking out of her lips are put into a slightly fuller view. Although it wasn't something she was proud of, her rainbow drinker way of life wasn't something she was going to hide, either.

"I promise that I have any unfathomable bloodlust under control. You don't need to worry."

And she replies to her other observation, "In a world like this with the sheer amount of people from other universes, it's almost impossible to not learn something new. Wouldn't you agree?"
samantha_grey: (Riiight)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-13 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Control's a tricky thing sometimes. You never know when it's suddenly gone. Still, good to know in general," she said. To the other, she shrugged and looked around them before sighing herself. "And yeah, I suppose it's hard not to 'learn' something, though it's hard to tell what's bullcrap and what's real around here."

"Half the battle's figuring out what's real and what's fake when you're running into things in a place like that. The other half's figuring what it all means for you."
debunk: (SEVENTY-ONE)

[personal profile] debunk 2012-07-17 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Real and fake? Such as? Aside from the complexities of our host's true intentions, I mean." She's interested to hear what Samantha thinks about 'real' and 'fake' things -- maybe she knows something she doesn't? Gathering info would be a preferable option.
samantha_grey: (Nonplussed)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2012-07-17 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
She motioned to one of the faceless, walking about its mindless, emotionless business, meandering about without a care or feeling in the world. "Those... things. No color in their faces, no form, no consistency," she said. "Memories, fragments of trapped souls waiting to come back, demons pretending to be people, illusions in our minds conjured by god knows what. How are we certain what they are?"
