[OPEN] Asgard Olympics Day 112
Who: anyone!
What: Asgard Olympics Event Part 2
When: Day 112 (July 13-14)
Where: Gefion Park
Rating: G to R (take anything higher to a locked log please!)
The second day of the festival, characters will wake up to the same carnival music as before. If they go to the park, they'll find the stage replaced by a huge fenced-in ring (the size of a rodeo corral or similar thing). Throughout the day, equipment for events will be brought into an moved out of that ring.
When you make a thread, be sure to fill out your subject line! Make sure people know where you are and what you're doing. For the sake of making the log easier on browsers, we won't be posting category threads for each event, so try putting "eating contest / battle royale / obstacle course / games / food stands" or whatever is relevant in your subject line.
The contests for the day are as follows:
First, the Hot-Dog Eating Contest. For this event, there will be long tables with chairs set in the ring. Characters will be given a constant supply of pleasantly warm hot-dogs on buns with no condiments and plain water to help wash it down. They will be timed for ten minutes, and whoever's eaten the most at the end of that time will be declared the winner.
The winners of the eating contest will be:
First Place: Pippin Took (Loki)
Second Place: Aladdin (Freyr)
Second, the Battle Royale. Characters who sign up for the battle royale will all enter the ring at the same time to fight. Using magic from the gods, the moment someone has blood drawn from them or a bone broken they'll be teleported out of the ring and will be unable to reenter. The last person in the ring will be the winner. All injuries will be healed automatically when the character leaves the ring, but deaths will be handled the same as normal, penalties and all.
The winners of the battle royale will be:
First Place: Kiyomasa Senji (Thor)
Second Place: Cheriour (Heimdall)
Third, the Obstacle Course. For this contest, a field full of typical obstacles will be set up. Characters will begin with a tire run, then go up and down a sharp incline. From there, they'll run and leap over some hurdles, take monkey bars over an inground pool of water (deep enough not to hurt when you fall and to require swimming), walk a balance beam, climb a rock wall and take a zip line (there are three of them set up) over a mud pit. At the bottom they have a 100-meter sprint to the finish line! Whoever reaches that line without skipping an obstacle wins. Choosing to swim the pool or wade the mud pit is a legit choice and won't get a penalty. In fact, anything the characters do to get through the obstacles is allowed so long as they don't just run around them
The winners of the obstacle course will be:
First Place: Sokka (Freyr)
Second Place: Laura Kinney (Hel)
All prizes will be given out at the end of day 113, so look at that log for more info.
In the evening once it gets dark, the carnival games and food stands will be lit up, and the food will change from carnival junk food to really good food from all worlds (even yours!) The music will change from sourceless carnival music to... not live music! Instead, the large ring will suddenly be covered by a huge tent. Inside, there's dance/club music, blacklights and bright coloured moving lights -- everything you need for a modern dance party.
Have fun, play hard, and good try to everyone who competes! Remember, your characters had to sign in for events ICly, but they're welcome to be thrown in even if you didn't sign them up already OOCly. Just jump into whatever you'd like!

Hello.

[ she offers the beer. ]
no subject
Thank you.
[She has to think about the question for a moment. She isn't used to thinking in terms of personal enjoyment, but she can say that the recreational competition was at least somewhat enjoyable. Years of training has made her physically adept, but it's rare that she's using it entirely for fun.]
I did enjoy competing. I am not used to things like that.
no subject
No? We have competitions like that in Italia several times a year. [ beat. ] They are not so... Clean.
no subject
[She takes a sip of the beer Claudia offered her.]
That would not have been as clean, otherwise.
[Another sip.]
What were your competitions like?

Corn dogs. Popcorn. Caramel apple. Funnel cake.
[ he points at each item as he names them, like he's a curator of a terrible exhibit. ]
no subject
