NEW YEARS EVE FESTIVAL LOG (WOW GUYS, THIS TOTALLY ISN'T LATE OR ANYTHING...)

Who: Everyone!
What: New Years Eve! WUTWUT.
When: Err...New Years Eve. Wut...wut? (December 31st, Day 14, etc.)
Where: The Castle Plaza
Rating: Worksafe. If this changes, PLEASE INFORM THE MODS.

[Look down. Now back up! Where are you? You're in the Castle Plaza, with the Gods your Gods could God like.

[Lively, pleasant music hangs in the air around you as fireworks explode in the sky above. There is a tempting aroma teasing at your nostrils. Where is it coming from? Those long tables at the center of the plaza, overflowing with food you love. Craving anything from home? You'll be sure to find it there.

[Look around you. What do you see? Carnival games. Hundreds of Carnival games, including a dunk tank, and all for free! Carnival games not your thing? Why not give the dance floor a try? That music is awfully catchy, and just look at all those stunning lights!

[Enjoy yourselves, travelers. A New Year is upon us.]

Yeah, but people can lose control when they're drunk. [With the distinct air of reciting from something an adult's told her.] It's easier for fights and things to start.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Your parents taught you well then. [He lowers his cup to look at her. Human then, he's figuring, with the way she explained it.] It's good for a party, but only in amounts you can handle.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[She blushes a little at the praise for her mother, as though it were for her personally. It's rare to hear people say nice things about her mother, and even rarer for people not to roll their eyes at her for being so serious and cautious.]

So if you only have a bit, it's safe...?

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shy type? Seems like it. He nods at the statement though, amused. Hey, a little bit of alcohol never hurt anyone as far as he's concerned, so he's not lying there.]

Pretty much. Anything in excess is bad for you is all you need to remember, and that applies to alcohol too.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods solemnly, a bit comforted. There's no guarantee that people won't overindulge, but at least there are some sensible people here.

There's something else distracting her, though. She knows his voice... and the face isn't entirely unfamiliar, either.]

Um, are you in Heimdall?

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[The question catches him off-guard, mostly because he had expected something related to the previous topic. Well, nothing wrong with it at least.]

Yeah, I am. I'm guessing you too, by that question. [Or if not, then she probably heard his message before.]

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I think I've seen you around.

[A polite, shallow bow.]

I'm Mako Nakarai. It's nice to meet you.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Polite is good, and that gets on his good graces easily.]

I'm Zen, and pleased to meet you too.

How are you enjoying the festivities, then?

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[She glances around at that question, visibly uneasy.] It's easy to forget how many people there are here. Heimdall House itself feels huge to me, and then you get all the houses together...

[But then she smiles a little, not wanting to concern him.] It's fun, though. I wasn't expecting things like festivals.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[The discomfort isn't lost on him, and he takes a quick sip of his drink before he speaks again.] You're not a big fan of crowds, are you?

[As for him, well... Living with the Nura Clan meant there were demons looking at you from every corner, and parties were hardly quiet. This was closer to home for him than the quiet moments.] It's all right to admit that much.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[It largely depends on the crowd, she thinks to herself - unknown people are unknown quantities, and she's still used to being notorious and largely disliked. It's odd (but comforting) to think that in a place like this, she's probably almost invisible.

Of course she doesn't get that personal with a near-stranger, though.]

I'm just from a small town, and I haven't been to many parties. We did go to the New Year's festivals back home, but... [They always came with their share of shunning and abuse.] ... they weren't like this.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. You'd probably be glad you don't know the bunch I've met. Parties are like second nature to them.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So you're used to stuff like this, huh?

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
More or less. It's not bad to enjoy yourself once in a while, even given the circumstances.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... [This isn't really her idea of enjoyment, but she's still had some fun in spite of herself.

The familiarity of his voice is still bothering her, though. If she could just place it...

... oh!]
Um, are you the one who started the clinic in your room?

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[He looks a little surprised at the question, before he nods at that. Huh.] Yeah, that's me.

So you did hear my message, huh? Glad to know that.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[He gets another small smile.]

I thought that was a really cool thing to do. Helping everyone like that, I mean. Everyone's got a skill, and if we all share our skills, we can function as a proper city until the townspeople come back to life.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[That earns an amused smirk from him. Watch out, Nakama, 'coz he's about to ruffle your hair at that.]

Thanks for the encouragement, but it's not that big a deal. [He shrugs.] I figured it's better than staying idle here before those healer types run me out of business.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wh - she just barely manages not to duck out from under his hand, but does blush furiously. Near-strangers showing affection, what is this.]

I - I think it's great. hope you can start up your own clinic. [Very serious.] I want to start a tailor shop with some friends when I've saved up enough for supplies... I don't mind working for the people here, but if I had my own shop, I could work on personal projects after hours.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Don't mind him. Personal space isn't exactly a thing he's worried too much about except when his wings were out.

He looks confused for a moment there, before something akin to being impressed imprints itself on his features.]
A tailor shop at a young age? It's a good plan, and it can't hurt to start early.

How good are you?

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I worked as a seamstress from home back in my own world, so I've got experience. I've been sewing for as long as I can remember. I don't know anything about running a business, though, so I'd need help with that.

[How good? Oh, she's not the type to talk herself up, but that won't exactly be very good for business.]

I... I guess I must be good, because the shop in Freyr didn't want to hire someone so young. The dress I came in is one I made, though, so I showed it to them and they changed their minds.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
With the business idea, it's best to try getting to know how it works in this place first. Every place has got its own rules, and I doubt this one's an exception.

[... Huh. Interesting.]

Show me some of your stuff next time, all right? That sounds pretty impressive.

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
D'you think the people here would talk to me about it, though? They always have so little to say, and my bosses wouldn't want to help me go into competition against them... [She scratches her head thoughtfully. This is a complicated one.]

[identity profile] agoodfamily.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[... and then she's blushing again. She's about as used to being called impressive as she is to head rubbing.]

Oh - um - sure. All I have is that one dress, because I can't work on any of my own stuff while I'm at work. But I can show you that.

[identity profile] poisonfeathers.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
If you can't ask, just learn by experience. There's a lot you can figure out by just listening in while working.

And that works for me. You're in Heimdall too anyway, right? So location's not an issue.
