NEW YEARS EVE FESTIVAL LOG (WOW GUYS, THIS TOTALLY ISN'T LATE OR ANYTHING...)

Who: Everyone!
What: New Years Eve! WUTWUT.
When: Err...New Years Eve. Wut...wut? (December 31st, Day 14, etc.)
Where: The Castle Plaza
Rating: Worksafe. If this changes, PLEASE INFORM THE MODS.

[Look down. Now back up! Where are you? You're in the Castle Plaza, with the Gods your Gods could God like.

[Lively, pleasant music hangs in the air around you as fireworks explode in the sky above. There is a tempting aroma teasing at your nostrils. Where is it coming from? Those long tables at the center of the plaza, overflowing with food you love. Craving anything from home? You'll be sure to find it there.

[Look around you. What do you see? Carnival games. Hundreds of Carnival games, including a dunk tank, and all for free! Carnival games not your thing? Why not give the dance floor a try? That music is awfully catchy, and just look at all those stunning lights!

[Enjoy yourselves, travelers. A New Year is upon us.]

Your face is the problem

Oh! You know Rainbow Dash? [ Guess who looks interested! A friend of her friend, etc. etc. ]

Mm! You're better at walking than she is, I think.

Where are you guys from?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I have been here two weeks. Which is a lot longer to get used to have only two legs.

and 2/2

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
As for where we're from originally, we're all from a town called Ponyville, in the land of Equestria.

Or, hmm, that's where we all were. I'm actually from the capitol city of Canterlot, originally, although I live in Ponyville now.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
... how very appropriate.

Ne, do you have a thing you're good at -- and a uh. Cutie mark. Too?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes!

[ And now Twilight is... reaching down... and pulling up her dress. Because, contrary to the icon, Twilight's cutie mark is on her hip. So enjoy all that non-pony leg as she shows it off. ]

See? This cutie mark shows that my special talent is magic!

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Conan had a bit of warning -- Rainbow Dash attempted the same thing after all -- but Rainbow Dash asked first. This--]

Ah -- that's very interesting. I've seen it now.

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ What's asking? Beggin' yer pardon, but ponies usually don't wear clothes. ]

Oh? [ So she drops the dress. Welp. ] But yes, back in Equestria, I was a student of magic.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
What kind of magic? I mean -- how did it work?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, [ And as she starts explaining, she moves more off the dance floor, over to the side. If she's not dancing, she doesn't want to be hogging the floor- ] unicorns are naturally gifted with magic.

Most unicorns are only able to basic spells, like levitation and light, and then a few spells related to their own special talent. But since my special talent is magic, I can perform a much wider range of spells.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Unicorn?

Light means making light? And what are other examples of your achievements?

Ne, is it hard being separated from your powers here? Or is starting from scratch with something entirely new allowing you to continue your reseach in a new way?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
...I don't think anybody would like losing everything they've worked and studied for. But it is an opportunity to learn about new things.

I've been doing a lot of reading on how weather works where all of you humans are from, for instance.

[ She's purposely avoiding talking about her achievements. She has a lot of confidence in her abilities, but she still doesn't want to be seen as a braggart. ]

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. It was hard at first, accepting that the way things work where I'm from isn't how they work here.

The weather? How does it work in Equestria?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well back home, the weather was made and controlled by the pegasus ponies. Like Rainbow Dash! I was actually quite surprised when I saw clouds moving on their own here.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Do you not have areas of high and low pressure? Or do you have them, but the Pegasus ponies circumvent them?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, that's how clouds move in your world!

To be quite honest, however, I'm not sure which of those cases it is in my own. As a unicorn, I didn't find myself worrying about weather myself. But I can tell you that pegasus ponies have been the stewards of the weather since ancient-pony times.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
So if we want to know how the Pegasus Ponies decide whether it's going to be cloudy, rainy or sunny, we'd have to ask Rainbow Dash?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, they usually schedule as much rain as we need to keep the plants and soil healthy. Though if they miss a rain, then they have to schedule heavier storms to make up for it.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
So you always know the weather pretty much? What about special events -- do you coordinate those with the Pegasus ponies?

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's right! The pegasus ponies make sure we have perfect weather for things like holidays or meteor showers.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
You'll have already realised that it's hit or miss where I'm from!

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. It must be hard to plan things like festivals when you can't accurately predict weather far in advance.

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Ah -- we usually have a few contingency plans.

[identity profile] studere.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh?

Do you push back the dates for things like that, then?

[identity profile] holmes-fanatic.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
If it rains for a sporting fixture or a sport's day, something like that, we chose another day. If it's a festival that must take place on a certain date, we put up tents and carry umbrellas or coats.
