[Look down. Now back up! Where are you? You're in the Castle Plaza, with the Gods your Gods could God like.

[Lively, pleasant music hangs in the air around you as fireworks explode in the sky above. There is a tempting aroma teasing at your nostrils. Where is it coming from? Those long tables at the center of the plaza, overflowing with food you love. Craving anything from home? You'll be sure to find it there.

[Look around you. What do you see? Carnival games. Hundreds of Carnival games, including a dunk tank, and all for free! Carnival games not your thing? Why not give the dance floor a try? That music is awfully catchy, and just look at all those stunning lights!

[Enjoy yourselves, travelers. A New Year is upon us.]

[She really likes spending time with Conan, because he gets so excited about little things, and it rubs off on her. She even finds herself laughing.]

[But look at the girl, Conan, she's skin and bone. She obviously doesn't have much of an appetite!

Still, she continues to pick up pieces from unfamiliar countries and try them at his recommendation, although she's a bit relieved when they're more familiar. Fish and chips, for instance, gets her thumbs-up for being not unlike tempura fish.]

I don't know about the dip, though... do you know what it's called? It's really yellow...

"Too yellow to be tartar sauce ... ah, it could be curry sauce! I've never tried British Fish and Chips before -- the one time we were in London, we spent most of our time on a case!"

Ah - they're really good. Heavier than tempura, but good. Do you want to try a bite off mine, so we don't waste a plate if you don't like it?

[The mun was thinking tartar sauce at first, since apparently it's very yellow here, but it can also be curry sauce if you like! Nakama hands over her plate, her attention turning back to the table. But oh, she's getting so full...]

"Not curry sauce," Conan decides. "So that leaves tartar -- we're lucky they didn't add vinegar! That's an acquired taste -- try it, Nakama-neechan, it's not bad!"

[She accepts her plate back and dips a bit of fish into the sauce, then takes the small bite and chews for a very long time.]

It's creamy. [That was obvious from the look of it, but she's still surprised by the texture.] I think... I like it.

[Conan can't help but snicker slightly at Nakama's expression. She'd been chewing so long, was that really a surprise? Though -- maybe she wasn't used to quite this much food?]

I like it too! Ah, but I think my stomach might need a rest. It's worked very hard!

[She is definitely overwhelmed by this impromptu trip around the world, and lets out a sigh of relief when Conan declares that he's ready for a break.]

Me too. I don't think I've ever eaten so much at once. [She rests a hand on her stomach and it's actually curving outward a little.] Want to find somewhere to sit?

[Conan nodded, offering with the diffidence of someone who doesn't care but feels he should ask:]

Do you want to sit somewhere we can watch the dancing?

Oh - y-yeah, sure. [She leads the way, having spent some time over there before. Oddly enough, the very mention of dancing makes her blush furiously and stutter a bit, but she says nothing about it.]

[Conan notes the blushing with indulgence ... girls. Still, it will be interesting to see who dances what and with who.]

[Seems the gods anticipated spectators -- there's even chairs here!]

[You'll have to excuse her, Conan, she had her first slow dance and is still reeling over it a little bit. In fact, there's a slow song on when they arrive, and she can barely look. But she does sit, fidgeting a little.]

There's more people out there now. I was here earlier, and almost everyone was around the edges.

Um. Yeah. I met a girl named Rikku, and my friend Jr. was here. [Her hands tightening into a knot in her lap.] It was... well, I'd never danced much before, but it was... fun.

[Awkward. It was awkward.]

Ah, Junior-niichan! He's my friend too!

[Nakama and Junior? Well, he was nice enough -- it'd be easy enough to get a crush on him. And Nakama was about the age that the girls in his class started giggling mysteriously and Ran had got exceedingly grumpy whenever he forgot they were hanging out ... Conan mentally shrugged. Soccer had been (and still was) more interesting.]

[She's really just discovering boys, but she's getting a bit ahead of herself - her body and her emotions are reacting strangely to closeness, but her mind doesn't yet know why. So if she were asked about crushes on any of her male friends, she'd sputter out an indignant no, and it would be perfectly honest. All she knows is that something is different, and it's making some of her new friendships uncomfortable.

And that leads her to share with Conan a smile full of such warmth that it may confuse him without context. At least he's uncomplicated.]

Jr. is nice. He's really understanding and patient. And Rikku is so cheerful and carefree, it's hard not to be in a good mood with her.

Mm! And he asked me for book recommendations too! I told him Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie.

I don't think I've met Rikku-neechan yet! Who is she?

Rikku's really pretty... you'll know her right away if you see her. She's got blonde hair with some of it in small braids, and her pupils are swirls instead of dots. I don't know a lot about her, 'cause we've only talked twice, but she's really nice and cheerful, like I said.

I'm not sure... we never talked about that. I've never seen her around Heimdall, though.
