[Look down. Now back up! Where are you? You're in the Castle Plaza, with the Gods your Gods could God like.

[Lively, pleasant music hangs in the air around you as fireworks explode in the sky above. There is a tempting aroma teasing at your nostrils. Where is it coming from? Those long tables at the center of the plaza, overflowing with food you love. Craving anything from home? You'll be sure to find it there.

[Look around you. What do you see? Carnival games. Hundreds of Carnival games, including a dunk tank, and all for free! Carnival games not your thing? Why not give the dance floor a try? That music is awfully catchy, and just look at all those stunning lights!

[Enjoy yourselves, travelers. A New Year is upon us.]

[ Yeah, he has no idea what they were thinking, setting this up when it's so cold. He looks to Yukari and shrugs. ]

Maybe I should try to dunk someone. My aim should be great too. [ By the whole save-the-world logic, he means. ]

[She chuckles a little.]

Hey, if you want to, you should go for it... but you're not tricking me into it.

In that case, oh well. [ He's teasing for once. Alert the media. ]

Aww, well, if I'm really the only person you wanna dunk... You probably couldn't hit it anyway. Should've been in Archery Club.

[ He can aim just fine, archery club or not. ]

I accept that challenge. [ He nods over to the dunk tank. ] Those are fighting words. [ Get up there so he can prove you wrong, Yukari. ]

[Yukari looks faintly worried.

Pssh, but... Fair's fair. And she's not wearing anything particularly delicate, so... She goes over to the side of the tank, then hesitates.]

...Y-You sure? I don't wanna make you look bad, Minato-kun...!

[ Have the kindest, most sincere smile you've seen from in in a long time. ]

But how can she say no to him when he flashes a smile like that? Fine, up on the ledge-thing it is, gingerly clambering up and hugging her knees to her chest.]

[ Perfect.

He grabs his first ball and tosses it up and down to get a feel of how heavy it is and how much force he has to use to propel it. Takes his position. Stretches his arm. Winds up.

And throws, hard and fast. ]

Eek...!

[It hits just above the target and Yukari momentarily feels like disaster has happened on the first try.

...This is not going to be stress-free, is it. She doesn't bother with bravado anymore, just looking apprehensive.]

Scary, huh?

[ He knows the feeling. That first try wasn't too bad. He thinks he can do this for sure, now. Ball number two is picked up, and he repeats the same routine, bouncing it in his hand, stretching, the wind up... He clears his mind of everything but the ball and the target and how he's going to hit it.

And then he throws again. ]

W-Why would I...

[Shoot, here it comes, and then a solid thunking noise announces Yukari's doom. With a rather loud shriek, she tumbles down, wishing suddenly she hadn't been sitting like that, since she's cannonballing into the water and it feels absolutely frigid. She vindictively hopes he got sprayed by the splash or something.

A moment passes and she extricates herself and surfaces with a gasp, hair dripping and in her eyes; behind that, her expression is somewhat mock-hurt and resigned. She spits out some water and wipes her face miserably. Her teeth are chattering a bit, too, as she bobs over to the side of the tank.]

Th-That's barely even f-fair, Minato-kun...

[moribundity]

You made it into a challenge. [ This wouldn't even have occurred to him if she hadn't doubted his ability like that. As it is, he's kind of proud and already readying a towel for her, which he holds up as incentive for her to climb out. ] All is fair in love and war.

[She's... a little bummed out. He even one-upped her, got her in two throws... But that last part, maybe unintentionally, makes her smile a little. Love and war, huh?]

W-Well, when you put it like that, I guess I can't complain... that much.

[And she clambers out, dripping and shivering, taking the towel and wrapping it around her. Not warm yet. Ugh.]

...Hey, wanna go grab something warm to eat, Minato-kun?

[ He wraps one arm around her shoulders and rubs in an attempt to warm her up a little more. Like it's not big thing. ]

Sure. After we change into something dry.

[takebow]

[It's totally not! She's cool with that. She was doing it a second ago... How the tables turn.]

Yeah, of c-course. [Okay, warming up again, annoyance quickly banished.]

[moribundity]

[ They've come full circle. He quickly flags down a maid, who is all too happy to help them. The change of clothes they're given is simple enough, but they'll do for now. Minato guides them over to the small tent behind the dunk tank, arm still around Yukari's shoulders. ]

You first. You're wetter.

[She glances around with a blush. Sure, there's no one else around, but...]

...What, right now?

[Embarrassing... She first slips off her sweater, which is kinda nasty to wear when wet.]

It's not like we couldn't do it at the same time, ya know.

[...Er. Not that she's suggesting...]

C-Change, I mean.

[moribundity]

[ Still. He's politely looking away and minding the tent entrance.

At least he is at first. Slowly, he turns his head and does nothing but smile at her for a few very long, possibly unsettling seconds. ]

Someone has to watch the door. [ Aaaand turning his head away again. ]

[Minato Arisato. You are making her blush all over. Stop it...!

She groans and sighs a little more (not like that) before, kind of surreptitiously, taking off her skirt and wrapping the towel around her shoulders. With another nervous glance at the door, she starts slipping off her underwear, too, all the while very intentionally not looking to see whether he's looking.]

[ He's not! He's a complete gentleman about it, holding the tent flaps shut and keeping watch just as Heimdall keeps watch over Asgard.

He takes this shit seriously.

He can definitely hear her though, and after a minute or two he has to say something. ]

[Okay, she's dried off and slipping on the new outfit now. It's rather comfortable, though no one would ever accuse it of being fashionable. She's just glad to be warm, though, at the moment.]

...Yeah, I'm comin' out.

[Suits the action to the word.]

[ He says it with a straight face, but there's a hint of amusement in his tone nonetheless. Watch the door, is what he means. Probably. Either way, he's going to start unzipping his clothes, now, wasting no time. ]

[Umm... Yukari's not so conscientious as him. She makes a good show of leaving and holding the door shut.

But then she peeks in once or twice. To see if he's done yet, of course...! Although she doesn't draw attention to herself or anything... Look, it's nothing new, exactly, okay.]
