[Look down. Now back up! Where are you? You're in the Castle Plaza, with the Gods your Gods could God like.

[Lively, pleasant music hangs in the air around you as fireworks explode in the sky above. There is a tempting aroma teasing at your nostrils. Where is it coming from? Those long tables at the center of the plaza, overflowing with food you love. Craving anything from home? You'll be sure to find it there.

[Look around you. What do you see? Carnival games. Hundreds of Carnival games, including a dunk tank, and all for free! Carnival games not your thing? Why not give the dance floor a try? That music is awfully catchy, and just look at all those stunning lights!

[Enjoy yourselves, travelers. A New Year is upon us.]

He can, and twists over and down a bit to prove it, taking the drink with a smile. It's rare for people to be this thoughtful towards him - this is more the kind of thing Minato would see himself doing for someone else. Minato takes a slow sip, but mostly uses the cup to warm his hands with. "Thanks again, Conan-kun."

"Lucky! I could only think of one way to get you down if you couldn't and well, that'd negate getting you a hot drink!"

Relieved of his hand warmer, Conan returns his hands to his pockets. "Sorry -- I thought you'd like tea or coffee, but everyone assumed the drink was for me and suggested cocoa instead ..."

"I do like coffee," he admits softly. Already the cocoa's making a big difference - he can feel his fingers again! "But hot cocoa is even better."

Conan nods wistfully. How many nights had he spent as Shinichi, rereading newspaper articles determined to crack a difficult case, finish his latest mystery novel, or frantically try and cram the studying he'd neglected to do in favour of playing detective until the early hours of the morning, with coffee as his only companion?

But no ... 'A kid like you? It'll stunt your growth!' Tch -- It was easier when the maids were just shadows ... huh.

Musing on that development, Conan belatedly realises that Minato said something.

"Ah -- you like it?"

He nods. "You can enjoy hot cocoa. Usually when you drink coffee, it's just routine."

Or it's to look cool and increase your Charm.

Ha ... The owners of coffee houses would love that.

"There's a lot of different types for just routine, isn't there?"

"I guess. Maybe I just like that Cocoa is sweeter." Another sip, this one longer. It's finally cooled down to a point where it's still hot, but not burning.

"I'm glad that Minato-niichan has something warm to drink! Ne -- how long do you have left up there?"

[moribundity]

"Me too." More sips. He swings his legs over the ledge of the platform he's sitting on, just for something to do. "I'm here for a while. A little under an hour."

"It was an hour when I left to get you the drink -- it has to be less than that now, surely?"

[moribundity]

"Fifty minutes then." If he has to be so precise... "But this will help. Don't worry."

"If you say so, Minato-niichan!"
