[Look down. Now back up! Where are you? You're in the Castle Plaza, with the Gods your Gods could God like.

[Lively, pleasant music hangs in the air around you as fireworks explode in the sky above. There is a tempting aroma teasing at your nostrils. Where is it coming from? Those long tables at the center of the plaza, overflowing with food you love. Craving anything from home? You'll be sure to find it there.

[Look around you. What do you see? Carnival games. Hundreds of Carnival games, including a dunk tank, and all for free! Carnival games not your thing? Why not give the dance floor a try? That music is awfully catchy, and just look at all those stunning lights!

[Enjoy yourselves, travelers. A New Year is upon us.]

[He blinks and looks momentarily embarrassed, because even if the spirits don't react or seem aware of much of anything, he still doesn't want to get on their bad side if they have one. There's just too many of them.

It isn't until the maid leaves that he answers.]

... That would depend upon what you mean by 'highly'. They are not ordinary beings, but not particularly pleasant to interact with, either.

I haven't had the opportunity yet. [ So he wouldn't know. He's not too angry with them, though. They took him from the moment of his death and sent him here healthy and whole again. Being here is a relief and a blessing, not an inconvenience. ]

[He's pretty torn -- he's being given an opportunity, it's true. But he doesn't know if that opportunity is a gift, or if it's a price. Either way, there are some things standing very solidly in the way of his liking it here.

Do you mean the serving spirits, or something else?

[Because he's pretty sure they've just interacted with one.]

Oh. I have not been able to seek out the gods, myself. [Not for lack of trying, though. He frowns, pauses, goes on anyway -- his tone is even, but the frown is still there.] As for the spirits, I do not understand what there is to like. There... is nothing there.
