[MINGLE FOR GREAT JUSTICE]
Who: Edogawa Conan, Kate Beckett & Other Interested Parties! (Hospital Staff, Forensic Employees & Hopefuls)
What: The Daily Grind | Socializing at the Water Cooler | Interviews | Orientation | Enquiries -- it is a mingle! The only limit is your imagination! Or something.
When: Day 234 | Business hours
Where: The Sigyn Hospital | Floor 3 | Forensics Department
Rating: PG 13
[The Forensics Department is a small sub-section of the hospital laboratory. It's got all the perks of the modern work setting -- water cooler, coffee urn, computers, filing cabinets, desks, a meeting room, files -- so many files.
Whether you're here for the company, the coffee, seeking employment or making enquiries or even lodging a case, you should find exactly what you're looking for -- and possibly even more -- right here.]

[Open!]
No one else is around which mean ... there is no one to object to him helping himself to the department coffee!
Which he is promptly going to do. Stunt my growth my ass ... man, of all the indignities to being seven having to drink soda and orange juice has to be up there ...]
OTA;
If you have questions about the Department, she's the one to go to. She might not be the boss, but she knows what she's talking about. Kind of has that 'I used to be a cop' vibe of authority about her. She might be kind of intimidating, but she doesn't bite. And really isn't that bad once you get her talking. ]
[Open]
So armed with her acquired knowledge of the city, as well as the fact that she was feeling like she was more on an even keel, Deb shows up at the forensics department looking as professional as she can. Hell, she's even wearing a fucking suit jacket.
With a little bit of a smile, and a determined shove of her hair behind her ears, Debra Morgan is ready for action, as she pushes through the doors.]

[Conan's pleased to see her. He's got a child-sized lab coat on, in which he too is endaevouring to look professional, despite the fact that he's got sneakers and jeans on underneath it -- shopping is hard when you're a kid apparently (or that's his excuse).]

[It's still fucking weird to see an eight year old with a lab coat, but at least he's not doing the thing where his arms are rolled up and it actually fits. If it didn't fit she wouldn't be able to take him seriously.
As it was, she was going to need to keep the Wikipedia Black comments to a bare minimum.
With a little shrug, she looks around.]
So what do we do?

Anou, Oneesan--
[She's gone. Huh. Going tip-toe to retrieve it from the desk, Conan's surprised to find it has his name on it. He first checks to see if there is a ticking sound coming from the box -- nothing. That's a good sign, so Conan's going to look and see if it has a return address or directions of any sort beyond his name.]

I guess that depends! Would you like the tour first or an interview? Or we could combine them -- I think that'd be best. You can ask questions about what we do here as we go around.
This is our main office. Generally we meet here at nine for a daily meeting. Everyone makes a brief report about the progress of whatever it is they're working on, and any new assignments are given out and then we get to it.
OTA;
Hopefully she takes this as a sign of the thoughtfulness of her tiny boss, and not step two in Conan's plan to get people to relax when they see him at the coffee machine by leading them to assume that he makes the coffee for other people.]

But if he opens up, there's going to be a black notebook inside with a note on top:]
"You're smart. Figure this out.
01010111 01101000 01100101 01101110 0100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 0100000 01100100 01101111 0101100 0100000 01100010 01100101 0100000 01100011 01100001 01110010 01100101 01100110 01110101 01101100 0100000 01110111 01101000 01101111 0100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 0100000 01110011 01101000 01100001 01110010 01100101 0100000 01110100 01101000 01101001 01110011 0100000 01110111 01101001 01110100 01101000 0101110

[The notebook itself contains all of the arrays that ???'s discovered with notes (also written in binary) included as to what each one does and their limitations. As to what it means by "listening", ???'s orchestrated and monitoring the package's delivery with Telepathy from somewhere in Sigyn.]

[It seems like a forgone conclusion, she was going to be hired anyway, so why waste time?]
How often do new assignments come in?
no subject
Is this to make sure I stay on task? [ she's joking, of course. ]

In between those, however, we make our own cases -- we've got a lot to learn about this city, the gods, our opponents in the way, the method used by the gods to bring and keep us here ...
[As he talks, Conan leads the way into the Forensics Headquarters, a decent sized room with individual desks arranged in islands, and a row at the head of the room.]
This is our main office, where we do most of our research! We also have the morning meeting here everyday before breaking off to each do our own thing -- people tend to go to the library, go out and interview people, even make field trips to Utgard and beyond, or use the hospital laboratory equipment.

[Conan is maybe joking.]

So, do like... have a giant ass like database of the shit we find or something?
no subject
Why binary ... ? Of all the codes to use, something so recognisable ... ?
The notebooks are more interesting though Conan only decodes the titles and broad definitions of the arrays. Actually deciphering all of them is going to take more time just in pure terms of sitting down and working them out, and Conan's impressed -- he's pretty sure for the notebooks to be written out in binary, ??? must be fluent in it.]

[ And Kate is maybe joking in return. Actually she's most definitely joking, but still. ]
