Library Plot Mingle!

Who: Anyone playing the Library Plot.
What: discovering things!
When: Day 239 (March 24-25)
Where: The Great Library in Odin District
Rating: PG-13

[Over the course of the day, some Travellers will receive the following anonymous text message:

the library guards are sleepy

Should these (or any) Travellers go looking, they'll find that the guards are in a deep magical sleep and they now have (unlocked) access to the inner chamber of the library. The room is a smallish round chamber containing mostly books of world history, geography, and information on famous people. Some books are missing -- the Gods have personally taken into their possession some materials and some were checked out when the greyness set in. The information available is anything that is not marked red on the plot gdoc. Yellow marks in the doc are things already known, but blue points are things only widely available as of this plot.

The characters who get the text will be anyone who would really want it. If your character isn't already interested in finding out what's in that room they won't get the message. If they were already curious prior to this plot you're welcome to assume they get it. There are no sign-ups and we won't be policing who says they got the message.

[ushahin's always curious, about nearly everything, and this message is intriguing enough that he closes up his shop to go investigate (thus enabling his employees to also get their browse on). when he finds an interesting book, he simply sits down on the floor by the shelf to look through it to his heart's content]

[Caterina is carefully stepping around him as she browses the shelf. She glances down at him.]

What did you find?

[ushahin is so not sorry at all for being on the floor. he looks normal enough, sitting there, but when he looks up, it's through a curtain of hair that covers half of his face. it's obvious that there's something wrong with the covered half. his voice is pleasant enough though]

History. Fascinating history. This place is quite old, by its own reckoning.

So I have been noticing.

[She examines the shelf in front of her and removes a volume, flipping through it.]

Much of it seems to confirm what we have already been told.

Some of it, yes. Much of this volume is new to me, although perhaps not to all. The gods have had little to say of themselves in my hearing.

[canmakemore]

[She sighs a little.]

They are not very forthcoming, no. But they have provided general information, mostly told by Loki through occasionally flippant methods.

I hardly blame them. But this is rather more than general, it seems, although not necessarily worth hiding.

I agree.

[She frowns, looking thoughtful.]

So why keep it hidden?

[She considers this to herself.]

Interesting indeed.

Mi dispiace, here we are speaking and I have not even introduced myself. I am Caterina Sforza.

Almost as interesting as how the door came to be open and some of us alerted so.

I am called Ushahin. Well-met, Caterina Sforza.

[She nods to him and dips in a small partial-curtsy.]

And you, Ushahin.

[He couldn't be sure who sent out the message, but he had planned to visit the library as usually anyway, so what could it hurt to check?

It was not particularly difficult to get in. As promised, the guards were asleep, and in his curiosity he slipped right by them to take a look at the door - only to find it unlocked with hardly any effort on his part.

It doesn't take him long to acquire a stack of books to begin reading through, although he carefully places them just far enough away that others may be encouraged to pick them up themselves - he wouldn't feel right hogging all of them when he can only read a single book at a time.]

[Caterina had worked at the library for some time before moving to Ezio's shop, and she had always been frustrated at the lack of information regarding Asgard and its situation.

So when she got the message she decides it's time for a trip.

She'll be looking through the shelves, reading what she can, taking notes on some things.]

[ kaworu is very curious, it's in his nature. It's not that he distrusts the Gods or demands to know everything about this place, but if given the opportunity to find out more, he would like to go - though he will only use the information to board his knowledge, not to form theories and assumptions about anything.

The library is a special place for Kaworu and he has eyed that guarded chamber before. He never tried to break in, but he has asked about if, only to be told it's off limits.

So, when he receives the message, he heads towards the library, where he finds the guards asleep just like promised, as if someone actually wanted to see who would come. Again, he doesn't really mind. And he enters the chamber, and heads towards the first shelf from where he picks a book.

Carefully sitting on the floor in front of it, he begins reading the words. ]

[Hisao already spent a lot of time in the Library, and had often looked for information on Asgard proper. He'd always longed to know what was beyond that one door - He'd been to the abandonned hospital and read as many records there as he could. But that was only one part of the story, wasn't it?

When he recieved the message, he was there as quick as he could be without blowing off work. He felt kind of bad sneaking in when the guards were knocked out. But it was more than worth it if he could find out anything of value.

He pushed his way through the door and immediately checked around to make sure it wasn't some kind of trap and he wasn't about to be god-smacked. Once he was satisfied, he darted directly to the shelves and started walking down the aisles.]

[ Asahi was practically thinking the same thing, really. When she heard of it, she immediately rushed over, even with less concern about this whole thing than him. She didn't check for traps, she just went right in, determined to find something. But since she's running around so eagerly, she manages to bump right into Hisao since she doesn't look where she's going. ]

Ah--!

Whhops!

[The book Hisao had been holding slipped from his fingers and clattered onto the wooden floor. He turned to look at Asahi, pretty surprised to see anyone else.]

Hey, are you alright?

[The question was directed half at her and half at himself - any sudden impact could give his heart trouble, after all. Though, it didn't seem to be a problem in this instance, thank goodness. He took a deep breath and steadied himself against the shelves.]

I.. I'm fine!

[ Just a little rattled, really. She has to catch her own breath, the shocked expression not really disappearing from her face yet as she's standing there, watching him -- but then she shakes her head. (She almost looks a little embarassed.) ]

I'm sorry..!

No, no - it's fine, really.

[He did his best to stand a little straighter and offer a reassuring smile.]

I'm Hisao Nakai... I really wasn't expecting any company.

[integrous]

Uh.. A.. Asahi! Asahi Yuki! [ At least she seems to be recovering from the shock, even if it's somewhat slowly. Instead of fully politely bowing, she just bows her head a little, more like a nod. ]

And I thought there wouldn't be many people in here either, but I guess people must have come after that message, huh? Normally I never come here.

( So this was completely against all the rules in any book. You didn't just break into parts of a library just because. But if breaking into the library was against the rules, so was kidnapping people from different dimensions and forcing them to fight in a war against their will.

It was all a matter of perspective.

Besides, she couldn't stand how vague all the information on Asgard was. A city like this had to have some sort of written history; it wouldn't make sense otherwise. )

Hmm..

( So she'll select her first tome, once she's in, wary of other travelers and start flipping through it. )

[ This is, in all honesty, completely up Giles' alley. Yes, it's against someone's rules, and yes, he may suffer the wrath of some fearsome entity if he's caught-- but that's no different from his usual life or choices. And it's a secret library chamber, with secret library books. On history and mythology.

Giles spends his time flipping through volumes, completely focused. ]
