"I have always assumed they stayed at home and continued on with their lives, but some have said time seemed to stop for them."

The water was added to the pot and the brewing process started while he spoke.

"It is possible to return home, live more of your life from right where you left it, and return here with those new memories. Time is very fluid in this place. So maybe time at home does actually stop. They might be frozen in what ever place they were in before you were brought here."

The teacups and saucers were easier to find and the tea was poured into each cup as soon as it was ready.

"I think people are just pulled in at random. I don't believe specific people are targeted... but then I have never asked one of the Gods that question."

"I think I shall, if an opportunity ever presents itself."

The possibility of returning home lit a spark of hope inside her, though it had to be carefully weighed against the possibility that what she had been told about this place was really true.

How much good could she do in this battle for all universes, if she was given the opportunity? Would it in fact be the only right thing to do to remain and fight, even if an opportunity to return home were to be given?

"Do you know how one goes about contacting them? Is it even possible?"

"They do sometimes make posts on the network, just as everyone else does."

A cup of tea was set down near her before Leonardo took his own, found a chair, and had a sip.

"I believe you can also speak to them from the shrines and some of them do keep mailboxes that you can send messages to."

And since she was talking about contacting them...

"Which God House were you sorted into?"

She picked up the cup, but decided to give the hot liquid some more time to cool off before actually tasting it.

It was comforting in its own way, to just feel the warmth seeping into her hands, heat being something very familiar indeed to her.

"I was sorted into Heimdall's house."

"Heimdall, then you would have either the power to take a person's injuries away or lend your strength to them?"

He had made a small study on the powers that the Asgard Gods gave to the travelers. It was always interesting to hear more about others experiences with them.

"I was sorted into Freyr with the drawing life ability."

"I was told that I can take injuries away."

She tilted her head to the side, frowning a little in mild confusion.

"Drawing life?"

"A very useful skill, but you should be careful when practicing it."

Fully believing that seeing is better than simply explaining Leonardo searched around for a piece of paper that had not been too badly scrawled upon yet and set to work drawing a small bracelet. It wasn't much, just a simple woven chain design with a few pearls on it. The image was then shown to his guest.

"Any kind of drawing that I set to a page can be lifted from it and made real."

It sounded impossible until the page began to glow and the bracelet that had only been a flat image before pulled from the page and became very tangible.

Ghanima's eyes widened, and she put her cup of tea aside to reach out and touch the bracelet.

"Astonishing. And it will stay like this?"

Leonardo sat back to enjoy her reaction. People were always so surprised by Asgard's magic and he took a certain mischievous pleasure in that.

"Si, it will. Any number of things can be created in this way."

Ghanima probably would have too, if she had this ability. She was not above startling people with her own abilities to get an amusing reaction out of them from time to time.

"Must the drawing be of the same size as the object you wish to create?"

"That was the way it was in the beginning, when I was just learning the power."

He laughed and rubbed the back of his head.

"I found that out when I attempted to craft a sword. It came off the page... about the size of a pencil. It was not very useful for much. Now the power is strong enough that I can make those things I draw as large as I like."

She laughed a little too when she imagined his disappointment at creating the tiny sword.

"It seems as if it could be very useful, this power you have. What about living things? If you drew a bird and attempted to bring it to life, what would happen?"

Everyone always asked about that. Maybe it was something he should put some thought into but...

"I have never tried to bring a living creature to life. I was always worried it might injure the animal in some way."

He does have a soft spot for animals. There was no reason to have them harmed needlessly.

She nodded a little.

"It seems rather a lot more risky to me. It also begs the question if you could create a person like this."

"I have a friend who was worried about that too."

It was a dangerous thought. Could some one actually make a person with a drawing? Would they be free to think on their own or would they be a mindless slave?

"I do not know what might happen if that were to be tried. It is a terrifying thought..."

"And what if one attempted to draw a loved one from home? Would it succeed? Would that mean that the person was pulled from their own world or would it create a copy?"

She shook her head a little, much as the concept reminded her rather a lot of the ghola's created in her world. Clones, but capable of regaining the memories of the person they had been cloned from.

"As you say, it's an intimidating concept."

Very intimidating...

"At least I do not believe any one here has tried it. Most do seem to have more sense than to meddle in things of that nature."

He at least was worried enough about it not to try it. Still, it did make him curious enough about it to wonder if he shouldn't ask that question of the network sometime.

"I suppose any of these powers might contain negative side effects if used incorrectly."

Ghani would certainly be interested to hear what answers he might get if he did.

"Most things can be used for both good and evil, I think."

In an attempt to lighten the mood a little, she took a sip of her tea and smiled.

"This tea, however, I would most definitely call predominately good."
