Broken into the library, though that trick definitely won't work anymore. Someone broke in again and left it open for everyone so they gave up trying to hide the secret stacks. [She chuckled.] And yes, I suppose good mischief really should be novel.

So, tell me. What sort are you planning today, or just getting the lay of the land?

Getting the lay of the land to properly ascertain how I should go about it. I have to say that I am at a touch of a loss, so many points to start from. How about you, what are your plans for the day? I hope I'm not pulling you away from anything.

[Yeeeep. Definitely a pun.]

Bubbling beakers, poisons and dark, mysterious draughts for the most part, along with recovering from some ink I had done. You've caught me in one of those rare moments where I'm just tooling around.

You want the ten cent tour?

I could even go so far as the whole dollar tour, I'm sure it's worth it. Alas, I don't have any money on me. But if you'll loan me your time I'll try to pay you back in some way. I wouldn't want to be indebted.

Oh, I'll spot you for today, and you can fix me dinner one of these days. How does that sound? It's as good an excuse as any to see you again sometime, after all, and I'm all for cheap excuses for that to happen.

I make excellent rice on toast. [Also tomato on toast, beans on toast, spaghetti on toast with a side of sadly wilted salad.]

What sight are we heading to first?

Rice on toast you say... let's hit Freyr. I'll show you the comfort house and around the theater district. You can find the library here in Odin just fine I'm sure.

It's a fine delicacy I assure you. [She'd passed by the library earlier and made a note of how to get there. She's already marked out long chunks of time to spend there, reading and browsing the shelves.]

What exactly is a comfort house?

[She chuckled as the two of them started off. The paths were easy enough to walk through, the neighborhoods nice, clean and pleasant.]

It's a resort in town. Spa treatments, facials, saunas, that sort of thing. Little pricey and I usually don't like strangers putting their hands on me, but every once in a while it's nice to relax.

It sounds positively pleasant. I can't wait. [Rose will find some way to pay her back but for now she's content to be ushered along. What she's seen of Asgard so far has been entirely to her architectural tastes.]

Have you been here long?

Almost seven months actually... and time's weird here. It feels like I've been here longer than a year, and people've grown like that was a full year. But this place is just... odd sometimes.

[She laughed and shook her head, looking at the streets. Eventually, the comfort house became visible just around the bend.]

So dare I ask if our little expedition's ending early? I don't get to go in there that often. too busy.

I've noticed it's not the most standard of locations. But hardly anywhere is as simple as it first appears.

[She hesitates,] I was hoping to take a look inside but I could do that another day. I'd like to continue the tour, really.

[samantha_grey]

[She nodded, pausing to look up at it and simply turned, motioning her to follow.] You're right, of course. If we actually go in there, we'll never get anywhere else on this little tour of ours.

[She was starting to make her way through the streets of the Freya district, pointing out one or another small shops. It seemed to be a district devoted to entertainment in general.]

During the last siege, the comfort house doubled as a bunker for the non-combatants. Seems to be one of the best defended places other than the palace of any size. The hospital's hopeless for defense.

The hospital gets attacked? [A chill runs down Rose's spine. Hospitals are off limits in all cultures. Or so she'd thought.

Rose takes note of the places that look interesting enough for a solo visit later. Then gives up as the they continue, she'll find her way fast enough, there are enough places that a general 'yes' for a meander is in order.]

They've tried to reach it, but it's also right near the palace. That's the center of the town. If an attack ever actually reached the hospital, really reached it, we'd have bigger problems.

However, they've attacked triage tents in the past and used plagues to attack us. They don't play fair at all.

[Her teeth click together as she swallows complaints about it not being right. Not a lot of things are right in wars and if they have an enemy who crosses the lines she's drawn then that's why they're an enemy isn't it?]

And the ever mysterious 'they' are?

The giants. I'm not going to pretend the gods are faultless, but I haven't seen these kind of tactics get used by them yet.

Gods and giants. Oh me, oh my. I suppose I should be glad that there is some far too powerful being that at least doesn't attack the sick.

It's something to be glad for at the least. Added to that, you don't have to deal with the gods that often, which is sort of a bonus.
