BOX BREAKING/EVENT MINGLE: THE GENTLEMEN
Who: EVERYONE still in the city on Days 346-348 (Oct 24-29)!
What: The Gentlemen event mingle/box breaking log.
When: Days 346-348 (Oct. 24-29)
Where: Throughout the city.
Rating: PG-13, for mentions of murder/death. Anything too explicit or graphic should be taken to a separate log, please!
Beneath the cut is the brief TL;DR of the event, but the plot rundown HERE can provide you with all of the information you need about breaking the boxes, stopping the murders, and saving the day! Remember that your characters are voiceless, so feel free to get creative with how you're communicating across the city.
A brief rundown by day:
Day One ( Day 346 / Oct. 24/25 ): A small earthquake rattles the city for three minutes. Everyone loses their voices. Two people will die late at night with their hearts cut from their chests.
Day Two (Day 347 / Oct. 26/27): The bodies are found. Buffycast will do their best to explain the situation and people will start looking for the "box" only to realise there's more than one. Two more people will die.
Day Three (Day 348 / Oct. 28/29): Two more people will die. The last box will be destroyed right as they're cutting into the third and final victim. Screams of the victims will be heard across the city and the Gentlemen will die.
Everyone is voiceless for this event. No screaming or coughing or anything of the sort. This applies to animals and possibly even the gods; if you try to ring them up, they won't be answering. Voices will return by late evening of Day 348 (Oct. 29).
[ Please include the IC day (ex. Day 338 - that can be found in the info beneath the cut!) and OPEN/CLOSED in your top-level comment or your subject line when starting a thread. There WILL BE headers for the different districts, with a box-breaking thread beneath each header, but you ARE WELCOME to make your own threads beneath those headers for your characters OR to make new headers of your own. ]

Before dawn on Day 346 (Oct. 24), an odd red light will appear in the sky in the general direction of Muspellheim. It's not the sun rising early and it's not a glow cloud, just a single, large streak across the sky that might look like a crack. Seconds after it appears, a rumbling sound will accompany a small earthquake that might break a few dishes or rattle anything not secured off of its perch, nothing terribly destructive. The earthquake lasts about three minutes.
From this point onward, all living creatures in Asgard will be mute.

ODIN
ODIN BOX BREAKING
Day 348
Besides, the dress bothers her as she runs from house to house, trying to find the box the woman named Buffy described to her. Why the houses? Well, Tessa supposed that since others were already all over the place looking in open spaces she would go and look into the smaller, more intricate ones. It was worth a shot, right?
Coming out of yet another house without the box she was looking for, Tessa stood out there for a moment, looking around. Was she missing any signs? She had to keep looking. She only hoped not to get into trouble. ]

But now the hunt became and Naoto, not as familiar with the other districts, took to the streets of her own. It seemed like the easiest and most obvious place to start. Not only that but all her info gathering and clues had lead her to believe there might be a box here anyway.
She had a similar idea as Tessa to look inside buildings instead of the streets. Her logic was that hiding it in a public location was too obvious. She's stepping up to the building just as Tessa exits. She pauses, a bit startled. She hadn't expected anyone else to be searching homes.
Naoto waves her hand to gain Tessa's attention. She points to her and then the house, hopefully conveying her inquiry: "Did you search here?"]
/rudely barges in
Stay focused and crack this, and nobody else will have to get hurt, he tells himself; think of it that way, and don't get hung up on any of the other details, like where his missing friends are or who's going to be next. It's becoming less and less reassuring as the silence wears on and the tension everywhere in the city weighs him down, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth remembering. Not necessarily.
Closing the door behind him with a click that reverberates unsettlingly through this quiet street, he turns his head to give Naoto the probably predictable bad news - wait, what's she pointing at? Is something happening? He can't tell from over here, so all he can do is hurry down the street after her, but the look on his face once he catches sight of Tessa is worth a thousand questions.]
wow so late
She wasn't expecting to find two persons though, even less a couple that looked her age- and was that a girl pretending to be a boy? Naoto should be glad that Tessa couldn't talk, otherwise she would have blurted a lot of things without meaning to.
Then again, she was dressed in a Victorian Era dress, so it wasn't as if she blended right in or something.
Shaking her head, she supposed it was the easiest way to let them know she hadn't checked there. Waving an arm towards the house, she tentatively tried to convey a "shall we?" as she walked towards the door. ]

Her attention back on the stranger, she quirks an eyebrow at her attire. It's a little jarring but she supposes if everyone here is from different worlds it would make sense to run into someone who might look out of place. Then again she also supposed she looked out of place too...
She tilts her head and gets the message, nodding once and exaggerating the motion so Tessa understood. She waves for Yosuke's attention and points to the building as well. Might as well help search here. She assumes the goal of all three of them is the same anyway.
Naoto follows inside. The home is abandoned like the rest of them however it somehow seems like it was abandoned longer than the others she had seen so far. Long enough for it to be a little dusty inside and for the lights to no longer work. It immediately puts her on guard. After glancing around she gets the other two's attention again. She points to Tessa and left and then Yosuke and right. As for herself she plans to go forward. Surely they'd cover better ground that way and search faster assuming her companions decide to comply.]

...Wait, no, he was just telling himself he needs to focus! Belatedly glancing back at Naoto, he nods and heads in after the two of them.
Behind him, the front door begins to creak shut in the most laborious, drawn-out way possible, only to clunk into one of his boots. He starts, jerking his head back over his shoulder. On second thoughts, though, when the moment of initial panic wears off, he leaves his foot where it is - and before going along with Naoto's suggestion, he raps the back of his hand against the door a couple of times. How about leaving this open? he mouths. It's still light outside, and not so dusty in here that visibility will be a major problem for a while, but if nothing else, the noise is going to get annoying, isn't it? And there has to be something heavy enough to turn into a makeshift doorstop around here...]
/softly dies in a corner also
So she'll just head to the room and start looking for convenient places to hide a box, or a box shaped object. It should stand out, she figures, being all important and relevant to them recovering their voices.
If Tessa had her voice, she would be sighing rather loudly right now. ]
Day 346
It's only when he knocks on the first door he comes to and tries to cry out that he realizes that something is wrong. His voice is gone. He coughs, clears his throat, and still nothing. Then reaches up and clasps a hand around his neck, like he can find a physical restriction, and tries to yell, short and sharp.
Nothing. Something is very wrong. He moves fast downstairs, cutting quickly through the halls with the aim of reaching the common room, starting a commotion with everything he can. He employs the rather unsophisticated (inglorious, but effective) technique of beating a left over umbrella against the metal bars in the stairwell, against the door downstairs, to try to rouse someone, anyone, to find out if it's just him.]

The loss of her voice isn't something she registers until all the noise sounds from downstairs and the surprised 'oh!' comes out as nothing at all. She tries again, aiming to call out for anyone, and then she enters the bathroom to check her reflection when it fails.
Only once she's sure there's nothing physical involved does she leave her room, moving to the top of the stairs then down them to seek out the source of what seems to be the only noise in the house.]

[Bruce enunciates at her, very clearly, when he catches sight of her. He doesn't know if she's going to be able to understand the words or not, but at the very least she'll hopefully get the message, and be able to tell him if the same is true in return. (These strange things seem to get everyone at once, he's learned in his time here.)
He makes a gesture over his mouth, to further indicate his muteness.]

She's toyed with her bracelet enough to understand the use of it, too curious to let it sit for long. So, she makes use of it, only able to use one hand to type into something she doesn't plan to post to the network. Then she moves closer and to his side so he can read.]
I had no trouble with speaking before bed. The shaking isn't a normal thing here, is it?
no subject
He does not have the patience to type back, so he strides instead towards the common room, nodding at her to follow. They can make sure no one else was hurt, at a minimum. He's gathered the better part of a first aid kit together, which should do in a pinch.
He makes a shrugging gesture at her, glancing over his shoulder, as though to ask whether or not she has any speculation as to what might be happening.]
no subject
Belle follows without hesitation, figuring the man has been here longer than she has and knows the house better. If there's anything they need to gather or people they need to check on, he'll likely have a better idea.
The look is met with a shake of her head in response. She only mouths the words "a curse" at him as an afterthought, but it's only a guess as she has no idea what good a curse of silence would do for anyone.]
no subject
Well, at least sort-of ask.
Hopefully they'll be able to find paper and pens, too, for those of them who don't like typing on fiddly things.]
no subject
After a moment, she points at the kit then at him - a question of whether or not he's been hurt in this.
Pen and paper is something that crosses her mind as well because it would be much easier than using the bracelet, but the only place she's seen any is the library. And she's not sure wandering out there is the best idea.]
no subject
Which is why, having ascertained that Buffy and the dog are all right, he winds up there. It is early, barely light out, but that's nothing new for someone used to the timetable of a vampire slayer. He needs to see if this is city-wide, needs to see if there are any explanations aside the very worrying one which comes to mind for him.
He steps through the foyer and finds Bruce. Giles gestures, waves for his attention, frowning his concern. ]
no subject
An expansive gesture at Giles, asking whether or not it's the same for him. It seems to be getting everyone in the city, but it certainly doesn't hurt to check. He hasn't run into too many other people yet, so it's hard to know how widespread it is.]
