BOX BREAKING/EVENT MINGLE: THE GENTLEMEN
Who: EVERYONE still in the city on Days 346-348 (Oct 24-29)!
What: The Gentlemen event mingle/box breaking log.
When: Days 346-348 (Oct. 24-29)
Where: Throughout the city.
Rating: PG-13, for mentions of murder/death. Anything too explicit or graphic should be taken to a separate log, please!
Beneath the cut is the brief TL;DR of the event, but the plot rundown HERE can provide you with all of the information you need about breaking the boxes, stopping the murders, and saving the day! Remember that your characters are voiceless, so feel free to get creative with how you're communicating across the city.
A brief rundown by day:
Day One ( Day 346 / Oct. 24/25 ): A small earthquake rattles the city for three minutes. Everyone loses their voices. Two people will die late at night with their hearts cut from their chests.
Day Two (Day 347 / Oct. 26/27): The bodies are found. Buffycast will do their best to explain the situation and people will start looking for the "box" only to realise there's more than one. Two more people will die.
Day Three (Day 348 / Oct. 28/29): Two more people will die. The last box will be destroyed right as they're cutting into the third and final victim. Screams of the victims will be heard across the city and the Gentlemen will die.
Everyone is voiceless for this event. No screaming or coughing or anything of the sort. This applies to animals and possibly even the gods; if you try to ring them up, they won't be answering. Voices will return by late evening of Day 348 (Oct. 29).
[ Please include the IC day (ex. Day 338 - that can be found in the info beneath the cut!) and OPEN/CLOSED in your top-level comment or your subject line when starting a thread. There WILL BE headers for the different districts, with a box-breaking thread beneath each header, but you ARE WELCOME to make your own threads beneath those headers for your characters OR to make new headers of your own. ]

Before dawn on Day 346 (Oct. 24), an odd red light will appear in the sky in the general direction of Muspellheim. It's not the sun rising early and it's not a glow cloud, just a single, large streak across the sky that might look like a crack. Seconds after it appears, a rumbling sound will accompany a small earthquake that might break a few dishes or rattle anything not secured off of its perch, nothing terribly destructive. The earthquake lasts about three minutes.
From this point onward, all living creatures in Asgard will be mute.

Out comes the pad of paper he'd brought with him for the purpose of communication.]
Looks like we all had the same idea. Where have you all looked so far? We can save some time if we rule those places out.
no subject
I'm afraid I have no leads. And it looks like there's nothing in the Welcome Hall itself...
no subject
They struck in the Welcome Hall. It's too risky to leave their box so close to one of their crimes. Maybe it's someplace unexpected?
no subject
She recognizes Ninian, and Jane, and proceeds to walk on over to observe silently. Then she scribbles something out as well:]
So we can rule out the Welcome Hall, then. I'm not sure it can be very far either, though.

He takes out his sketchpad, already cursing the fact that his tattoo has not yet healed to allow him to write in the air, and draws a map of Sigyn, carefully shading out the areas he has already checked. He had wandered into a lot of native businesses and explained about the boxes. He asked them to look through their own stores on the off chance that the box is somewhere in there, and they're to destroy it if they do find it. He doubts that it's somewhere so populated, though.]
no subject
That narrows it down a lot. I asked around and no one around here has seen those things around.
[It goes without saying that the creatures would be hard to miss if they are wandering the city. Merlin carefully shades in a portion of the Sigyn district's middle area on Sandy's map.]
The box must be hidden really well.
no subject
... Is there any other place where they could find potential victims easily? Where illnesses are healed, or people are taken care of?
no subject
More scribbles, but these are to the point.]
Doctor's office? Hospital? Old folk's home?
no subject
[Her pen presses just a bit too deep, as she writes this. She doesn't put it past these Gentlemen (oh, the irony) to try preying on someone who's too sick to fight back--after all, that'd just make it easier for them.]
no subject
And he's also seen too much to sit around twiddling his thumbs. He gestures for the others to come along and starts walking on the road to the hospital. He remembers where it is from his arrival.]
no subject
Still, it wouldn't hurt to have a look. The hospital's large, and the Gentlemen might have managed to sneak in without anyone noticing. Merlin follows Sandy's lead, only scribbling another message once they've arrived at the building.]
Terminal ward first?
[Of all the patients, those would be the weakest, and easiest to prey on.]
no subject
It would be a good start.... Do any of you know the shortest way there?
no subject
I don't.
[And then an arrow. She points it in the direction Sandy's going, and underneath it says:] He might!
[After all, he certainly seems like he does.]
no subject
[Even without her voice, Elphaba still has a lot to say.]
no subject
Sandy gestures for everyone to move faster. To him, doing a quick search of the entire hospital will be more effective than trying to target one part of it. After all, if the boxes are really so valuable, the Gentlemen will leave sentries by them. As he understands it, the monsters are difficult to miss.]
no subject
The terminal ward is a good place to start, and it looks like Sandy has an idea of where to go anyway. Best to follow along for now. Besides, he can always head them off if they head toward a densely populated area. His knowledge of the building should come in handy for that.]
