[ It had worked once before, back in the heat of late summer in Asgard, so Jade was trying it again. She had dragged the sign out to the front of the store, right in the middle of the sidewalk, and written in huge letters:

free hot chocolate! :D
just come inside ♥

The temperature hadn't broken the sixty degree mark today - it was getting chilly fast. Both Orihime and Annabeth were gone, and the store was oddly quiet. Jade will be found keeping herself busy throughout the day with odd little chores when it's completely empty of customers - sweeping, dusting, and occasionally dozing in a booth near the door when the boredom becomes too much to bear. ]

Doesn't seem like it, does it? I mean, they obviously ain't the sort of beans you eat normally...

Yeah. I'm gonna have to, now.

Uh-uh. [Head shake.] I mean-- I suppose there are probably lots of kinds of beans out there, but... it still seems strange. There has to be something more to it than that.

Mm. That's what the library is for, I suppose. It should have something on the subject, don't you think?

I've never been in there, but that'd make sense...

[After all, she's right, what else is a library for except to find out this sort of thing?]

[Gosh. Except now that she thinks of it--]

-- I suppose you haven't been here very long, after all. [She's just a big silly and latched onto the place almost right after getting to the city.] Do you know where it is?

[A brief frown-] Probably been past it. But I ain't sure if I could say where it is...

I understand. Mm.... [Hum.] I can show you some time, if you'd like? Or give you directions.

Yeah, sounds good. I mean, I can probably find it on the map, but...

[He doesn't entirely trust his map reading skills even now, he doesn't say.]

No harm in having a little help or some company, right?

[Poor guy. She laughs just a little, shaking her head.]

Don't worry, I was just kidding. [Hee. She says it kindly enough, anyway.] I know there are much more important things.

...Right. [He looks a spot embarrassed, there. But of course she was... yeah.]

When d'ya wanna take a look, then?

[She keeps her smile quite kind, anyway, without even the slightest hint of ill thought. No embarrassment, Kanji, gosh.]

[She shifts slightly as she considers the question.] Well, when are you available? I have work tonight, but there are a few hours before then, if you're not busy after this. [No pressure, though - that's evident in her tone.]

I ain't got a lot going on. So... any time's good.

[That's the one problem he's got at the moment. It's kind of easy to get bored sitting around...]

I see. We'll fix that, then - at least for today.

[She's not prone to stagnation, herself; even in the beginning she was dying to explore. Pardon her while she sips her drink--]

So you haven't found much to do, yet?

Still findin' my feet. Yeah, there's been stuff happenin', but between then? I'm still working things out. Startin' on a couple of things, but - they're nothin' big yet.

[She nods understandingly.] Everyone needs a little time to settle in, I think. If you need help, you can let me know. Are you considering looking for a job?

A job? I ... hadn't thought about it.

...Probably be a good idea, huh. I mean, the allowance ain't great and all.

It's nice to have a better income, yes. [A much better one, in her case. She's been saving up money waaaay too long.]

It would help you keep busy, wouldn't it? And-- if you can find a job you like, it could be fun, too. What power do you have?

Huh? The drawin' stuff to life one... you think that'd be handy anywhere?

[She sits back a little in her seat, eyes lowering contemplatively to her drink.]

A lot of places, probably, but maybe not ones that would pay. I suppose-- maybe advertising, [because hello signs that move themselves] ... but since you're just starting out, I'm not sure. You could ask around? Maybe see if anyone else in your House has some suggestions.

I don't know that many folks from there yet. Guess I oughta try and meet some, huh.

They may be able to help you with some things that no one else can. Besides, wouldn't it be nice to make more friends in the city?
